Saudi Aramco has informed at least two oil refining customers in Europe that they will receive no crude oil next month following an attack on the kingdom’s main pipeline to the Red Sea, according to a report from Bloomberg News, citing people familiar with the matter.
Canada used to look like a slightly colder, slightly nicer version of the United States. In 1980 the two countries were basically tied on GDP per capita. By 2026 the United States is 56% richer per person. That is not a rounding error, it is a completely different economic model.
Canada chose a different path from the US: slower productivity, heavier regulation, housing that prices out its young people, and population growth as a substitute for output growth. The result looks more like Western Europe than Texas or Florida.

Following a comprehensive, nation-wide, five-month search process, Chief Farooq Hassan Sheikh has been named the 15th Chief of the Regina Police Service.
Chief Sheikh (pronunciation, SHAKE) comes to the Regina Police Service from the Alberta Sheriff’s Service where he’s held the position of Chief since 2021. The Alberta Sheriff’s Service has over one thousand employees, who perform a wide range of law enforcement and public safety activities across the province of Alberta.
Chief Sheikh has over 31-years experience in law enforcement, serving in senior leadership roles for the London Metropolitan Police and West Midlands Police in the United Kingdom and as a member with both the Calgary and Central Saanich Police Services, among others. He has his Masters Degree in Criminology and is passionate about crime prevention through proactive policing. Employee health and well-being is also a priority for him, as policing becomes increasingly dangerous and complex.
