Following a comprehensive, nation-wide, five-month search process, Chief Farooq Hassan Sheikh has been named the 15th Chief of the Regina Police Service.
Chief Sheikh (pronunciation, SHAKE) comes to the Regina Police Service from the Alberta Sheriff’s Service where he’s held the position of Chief since 2021. The Alberta Sheriff’s Service has over one thousand employees, who perform a wide range of law enforcement and public safety activities across the province of Alberta.
Chief Sheikh has over 31-years experience in law enforcement, serving in senior leadership roles for the London Metropolitan Police and West Midlands Police in the United Kingdom and as a member with both the Calgary and Central Saanich Police Services, among others. He has his Masters Degree in Criminology and is passionate about crime prevention through proactive policing. Employee health and well-being is also a priority for him, as policing becomes increasingly dangerous and complex.
“Chief Sheikh is honoured to be serving the citizens of Regina, and leading the incredible employees of the Regina Police Service,” says Board Chair, Jada Yee. “His extensive work with diverse communities and his passion for collaboration will serve our city well.”

Perhaps someone from the West Midlands area of the UK will remember his name when they write their memoirs… though to be fair there were so many unfamiliar names tossed about.

Put himself into a comprising situation with a co-worker, who happens to be someway related to some drug investigation and allows himself to be blackmailed. When he fails to comply, they forward all the comprimising materials to the board. Wow. Text book case of never having a security clearence ever again. And he wants to be put back as Chief again. Wow. Talk about delusional.
Yet a guy who was/is life long friends with a guy who became a member of the Hells’ Angels is kicked out and can’t get back in.
And if someone enters our home, yard and carries out illegal actions, we can’t defend ourselves and property even if those means never cause injury.
I am so tired of our justice system and the people running it.
After a nation-wide hunt they hired someone out of the UK? Is policing that bad? And you can be fired for flirtatious drug-trafficking (looks around nervously)?
