I am dismayed that the K-12 school system do not teach the novel “1984” in which there are 3 world powers, 2 of which are at war with each other at any one time. Currently, the West is in a war against China with Russia sitting on the sidelines. Why, oh why, would the United States want anything Chinese on its northern borders OR have any trade with Chinese proxies such as Canada?
As stated previously, I am NOT a big fan of the federal Liberal party. However, back in the 1960’s under Lester Pearson and then Pierre Trudeau (I am also NOT a big fan of him), at least the Liberal party acknowledged that Canada needed a lot of trade with the United States in order to continue to prosper. As a result, the Canada/U.S. Auto Pact was signed in 1965 and provided 30 years of very good trade relations and union relations with Canada’s auto sector.
