  1. If you’ve ever read Gulag Archipelago by Alexandr Solzhenitsyn it helps to make a little sense out of what we’re seeing today, at least it did for me.
Prison guards in the Gulag were prisoners themselves but were put in place to maintain order and make sure everyone toed the line. Murderers, rapists, pedophiles, phsychopaths you name it. They were good at it too. Given the best food…best jobs…sodomizing whomever they wanted and killed anyone they didn’t like. Hell on Earth.
Communists viewed criminals as an oppressed class and as such were given leniency not unlike what we’re seeing now.

    1. Burton, I think you’re reading that wrong. My understanding was that the Soviet government feared and/or despised the political prisoners and wanted to crush their spirit so they put the criminals in charge of them. It wasn’t because the Soviets viewed the criminals as a oppressed class, but as a weapon.

      1. Our current regime has the same intention – using criminals as a weapon to divide and destroy this country. We are, for all intents and purposes, in the fledgling state of a communist dictatorship. And the voters, lured with the false promises of immoral socialism, are sleep walking into tyranny.

        1. The Liberals in my parent’s family assured me this would never happen in Canada.

*I was sitting at the kitchen table reading selected passages from The Gulag at age “about 12” to my mom, and she asked me, “how can you read this sort of thing?” … my response was clear, “it’s easy mom, no one lives longer than 5-10 pages”
Yes, that’s not what she meant, but it’s exactly how I and others would have intended.

  2. I find it odd that Lorne Gunter doesn’t mention crimes commited by and the early release of Blacks, and Muslim and Indian immigrants,

He doesn’t say anything because he knows his boss will fire him. He doesn’t even need to be told not to, he can read the room.

So much of Canada is like that. Makes me angry.
