If you ditch the “effective altruists” euphemism and just call them tyranical Communists, which is what they actually are, then this sounds pretty right.
My hope is that “AI” as we still call it will be less lame and more useful than it has been to date. My expectation that “AI!!!” could kill us all is zero. If AI ever manages to really kill anybody, that will be a murder because humans will be doing all the work.
Also, worst-case scenario, my money is on 4 billion years of relentless, merciless evolutionary tuning over some Silicon Valley crap that is at most 40 years old. Humans are the top predator on this Earth for a lot of reasons.
If an AI system can keep a single server farm free of mice, then maybe I’ll start wondering about the AI-pocalypse.
