Every U.S. administration since Clinton has levied tariffs on Canadian goods, and every Canadian prime minister has fought to have them removed, with varying degrees of success.

When the last deal was announced, Donald Trump said Keystone XL Pipeline would be built as a result. THe Keystone XL announcement was a surprise as Mark Carney is vehemently oppsed to oil and gas development, he even wrote a book about it.

Ultimately, Carney pulled out of the deal citing tariffs on F450 trucks. FYI, Ford has manufactured ZERO Ford F450 or larger trucks in Canada in the last 5 years, but they were retooling to do so.

The killing of the Keystone XL Pipeline and the rejection of requests to sell LNG have cost the Canadians close to $1,000,000,000,000 in just a few years, we can’t possible sell enough F450 trucks to make up for what we have already lost.

At this point, every Canadian needs to be ask: what is Mark Carney’s agenda?

  • Negotiated the 2006 Softwood Lumber Agreement to temporarily suspend lumber tariffs.

  • First Term: Renegotiated NAFTA into the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), approved the Keystone XL presidential permit, and placed Section 232 tariffs on Canadian steel (25%) and aluminum (10%) in 2018 (later lifted).

     

  • Second Term: Invoked national emergency acts and trade law provisions to impose broad tariffs on Canadian imports, including select automotive, alcohol, and dairy products. Rescinded the Keystone XL cancellation order and granted new cross-border pipeline permits.

This post looks like the start of a VERY sophisticated and well-funded PR operation to get support for Democrats to regulate AI into oblivion. Let me show you how it works:

1.) This guy, with minimal followers and no previous account activity, goes to the Wall Street Journal which publishes an exclusive with quotes from him on his resignation 18 minutes BEFORE this post goes up. Planning was clearly done in advance.

2.) Within hours, it has tens of thousands of reposts and the account has 100k+ followers. The post is punchy, quotable, it almost seems professionally written. The first three accounts to quote tweet it all do so within 15 minutes of the initial posting. Remember, this account had basically zero engagement beforehand, so an organic reach explanation seems unlikely.

According to Grok those accounts are @_NathanCalvin (General Counsel at Encode AI), @peterwildeford (Head of Policy at the AI Policy Network), and @DKokotajlo (Head of the AI Futures Project), all of which are up-and-coming AI-Doomer policy advocacy nonprofits.

And posted by a guy who had worked for Anthropic a mere two months. Dave Rubin summarizes.

Deliberately choosing to pay more than you need to for inputs doesn’t make your province richer; the reality is quite the opposite. My guess is that the “buy local” gambit is going to be used not only as an excuse to shut out American suppliers but suppliers in other provinces as well. In any case, there’s no way a few sales to the Quebec government can replace the losses from being unable to sell into a market ten times the size of Canada’s.

The Quebec government has announced a series of measures to promote buying locally in response to the escalating trade war between Canada and the United States.

Premier Christine Fréchette says the measures will inject about $1.5 billion into the Quebec economy in the next four months.

A B.C. family doctor has been ordered to pay $28,100 after refusing to inject a transgender teen with a prescribed hormone blocker, citing religious and cultural reasons.

Dr. Henry Ajaero, who has run a family practice in Delta since 2014, was ordered to pay the compensation in a Sept. 1 B.C. Human Rights decision, which found his conduct was discriminatory.

In March 2021, Ajaero told a transgender teen and her mother who made an appointment at his practice that he would not inject a prescribed medication called Lupron, saying “he did not feel comfortable administering it.”

A smart provincial government could be poaching those doctors seeking escape. This would, however, require the backbone to actually take on the child mutilation cult in Saskatchewan and shut it down.

An Alberta First Nation says it aims to defy Premier Danielle Smith’s government by establishing a safe haven for gender-affirming medical care — contrary to provincial law.

The Saddle Lake Cree Nation, located northeast of Edmonton near St. Paul, says health care is a right under Treaty 6 and falls under its inherent jurisdiction.

The First Nation has invoked the “medicine chest clause” provision from the treaty signed in 1876, which Indigenous Peoples interpret as a promise to provide comprehensive health care.

“All children, including trans and two-spirit children and their family, will have safety under our treaty,” Saddle Lake Chief Dale Steinhauer said on Wednesday.

Well, that’s an awkward pivot from the narrative.
