Stupid or Liar?

Sorry for the lack of content today, but I was driving to Washington, DC and showing a friend numerous places along the way. Something very bizarre happened in beautiful Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, which still has my brain frazzled. Here’s hoping some of you can explain to me what happened.

A middle-aged couple was walking towards me with their dog. The man had a Baltimore t-shirt on, so I asked him if he was from there. He explained they lived nearby there. I then explained that I spent a month this past summer staying in rural Maryland and added that, while it was very pretty, it was too hot for my Canadian body. The woman suddenly burst out with, “You’re Canadian? I’m so sorry for you.” Given that this was an ambiguous statement, I asked her to explain. A few seconds later, I regretted asking her. She quickly demonstrated that she had full blown TDS and went on an anti-Trump rant. I then politely responded, “Well, I’m not too happy with my government either.” I added that Mark Carney had recently told the New York Times that he feared an invasion from America. She nodded in agreement with Carney’s sentiments. So I asked her, “Do you seriously believe that Canada is at risk of invasion from America?” She nodded in the affirmative. So then I asked, “Do you really fear Donald Trump more than you fear Communist China?!” She once again nodded in the affirmative.

I was about to ask her what her thoughts about Lindsay Clancy were, but strongly suspected I already knew.

She was lying to my face, right? Or is she really as stupid as the Elbows Up Lieberals in Canada?

  1. Some people don’t care about truth, they just frame everything they say around their emotions and beliefs, regardless of truth. These are the types of people that are never introspective, that never think about principles, that never try to form their own morality. It’s beyond their feeble intelligence. There are many people like this, maybe half the population. They are the dumbest people in the world.

So, for this person, hatred of Trump is her prime belief and emotion. Everything she says revolves around that. Every answer or statement she says will reinforce that. Truth is immaterial. Truth is irrelevant. Every answer she gives will be the answer that is most negative about Trump. Reality does not matter.

  2. -The woman suddenly burst out with, “You’re Canadian? I’m so sorry for you.”-

I’m Canadian, and I’m so sorry for me too!
Vote option 2 on Question 10 this October 19, Albertans. Stop me from feeling so sorry!

    1. OZ, I agree totally with OPTION 2……….it’s the only way to go………..IF NOT WE ARE DOOMED in ALBERTA………It’s way past time that we have say in our own Province…We do NOT need Ottawa telling us what to do at every turn………..More & more people here in Alberta are starting to realize what Ottawa has done for our Industries & Farmers for decades and decades…….

  3. Eastern boomtard. They all share the same cousins or something not sure. Anyway these idiots run our country. Once you recognize the boomtard you get it.

These people watch tv news all days everyday and believe it 100%

  4. Sorry, Robert, she is most likely not just dumb, but truly evil in what she supports. Not that she has enough clues to recognize it.

  5. She was lying to my face, right? Or is she really as stupid as the Elbows Up Lieberals in Canada?

Keep in mind that Maryland has over 200,000 federal employees living within. Most around the Baltimore area (but not in the city). That doesn’t even count the Federal retirees which is another 150,000. I have a cousin who lives down there. She caters those parties everyone is so willing to sell their souls to attend around DC. Her business is way down due to all the terminations on the Federal level by the current administration. There is a higher level of animosity in Maryland and N. VIrginia just due to that. So, if that couple has friends or relatives terminated, I’m sure it influences their political mentality. Also, I couldn’t help noticing that the male you met got the initial word in, and then was cut off by the woman. Beta Male. He was probably biting his tongue during the entire thing.

  6. Well Robert … you got wayyyyy too close to DC … the belly of the Beast. And that Beast has many disciples spreading the Evil word.

  7. Interesting.
I had the same back and forth with an American lady this spring. On a Holland America cruise. I’m from western Canada, she’s from New Jersey. Nearly identical exchange, word for word.
Although I did go a bit further, to point out that I agreed with her president in many ways. She turned in a huff and stalked off. TDS, indeed.

  8. I vote for liar, because I just can’t believe that any normal person could be so stupid as to fear Trump more than China. Sure, they might *say* that (because they are liars), but to actually *believe* it? That would be pure idiocy.

    1. I vote stupid because even though I can’t believe Americans think America is worse than China, many of them constantly prove me wrong.

  9. l coined the phrase broken brain syndrome, ie the portion of the brain that carries out rational thought, doesnt.
the power of speech remains but what comes out at times is psychotic gibberish.

  10. scf nailed it, it is just emoting instead of thinking, one is easy, the other hard. My vote would probably not be stupid although it is entirely possible, my vote is for lazy.

  11. Think of someone you know who is of average intelligence. Consider that half the population is less intelligent than that.

  12. I travelled for 6 weeks in Spain last year and met a lot of Americans along the way. I can’t remember any of them not apologizing for their government. If this small sample is anything to go by the Republicans are going to get wiped out in the midterms and it will be a long time before there is another Republican president. Enjoy it while you have it US, because you won’t have it for long.

    1. So you met a bunch of rich Americans. They have the means to travel. They’re likely Democrats because they go to other countries rather than tour their own thinking that Europe, in particular, is superior to their culture.
Typical elites who don’t want to find out what their own countrymen are like and why they think differently.
I pity any American who apologizes for what their President is doing because they ignore all the positives and facts based on their emotions.

      1. I’m not saying I agree with them, but DJT became president with less than 50 percent of the popular vote. It’s not like it was a landslide. Just be prepared to be mocked by all those people the American right think they are so much smarter than when Gavin Newsome, Kamala Harris, AOC, or some other such moron is sworn in as president.

        1. “DJT became president with less than 50 percent of the popular vote.”

Pass President Trump’s SAVE Act and then we can talk about the value of the “popular vote”.
Until then? There is only ballot harvesting representing questionable results.

Illegal Aliens and mail-in votes that were never in the mail may be popular but they don’t represent American Democracy.

          1. Ballot harvesting that the right will do nothing about. All those guns and ammo that they’re so proud of and they’ll let the left install whoever they want into the White House and not do a thing to stop it.

          2. “All those guns and ammo that they’re so proud of…”

Yes, Rusty Shackleford. That bothered me a lot when the election was so blatantly stolen in 2020.
That said, it would have required a leader to have another revolution and America’s leader, Donald J. Trump cautioned patience and here we are… sans thousands slaughtered in pitched battles all over the nation with foreign enemies sending advisors and arms to divide up the country into warring factions, with peace and security fading into the shadows for an unknowable time.
A new Dark Ages? No, patience is better.

“Ballot harvesting that the right will do nothing about.”

Well, they managed to stay vigilant enough to pull out a win in 2024.
Maybe vigilance and perseverance will overcome this November. Have hope.

    2. “I travelled […] in Spain last year and met a lot of Americans along the way.”

Do you know who moved to Spain recently? Amber Heard. She lives there now. Spain is a socialist country.
Same subset of American woman backed Amber Heard as back Lindsay Clansy. Same.

“DJT became president with less than 50 percent of the popular vote. It’s not like it was a landslide.”

      The Electoral Vote was: Trump538…Harris270
      https://www.archives.gov/electoral-college/2024

That IS a landslide. That is how the game is played in the U.S.A. and that is all that matters.
Donald J. Trump knows how to win and win BIG. Electoral College? Thems the rules.

      1. I didn’t say they weren’t the rules, I’m just saying prepare to be wiped out in the mid terms and prepare to live the rest of your life without ever seeing a Republican president again. When that happens I will laugh my ass off at the smug Americans here who think they are so superior to everyone else when they’re really no different. Every American big city is a dump and half the states are complete shit shows run by lunatics. You had four years with a president you like , then if you’re lucky you will revert back to an Obama, Clinton or Biden. If you’re not lucky you will end up with a president that will make Biden look like the best president ever.

        1. “I’m just saying prepare to be wiped out in the mid terms and prepare to live the rest of your life without ever seeing a Republican president again.”

I always prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

  13. Traveled through Pacific Northwest this summer. Talked to an older gal who said she’d heard good things about Canada (politically).

Told her she could have it & that I’d swap her straight across. We were distant enough from Portland to make it bearable. She declined…

  14. I ran into one of my neighbours yesterday. I hadn’t seen him for a month or two. First thing out of his mouth after G’day was a frightened, “So, when do you think the asshole is going to invade?”

“Don’t know. But I hope it’s before the f***** Chinese take us over.”

  15. “So then I asked, “Do you really fear Donald Trump more than you fear Communist China?!” She once again nodded in the affirmative.”

These people do exist. You know how there’s an IQ bell curve, and “Normal” is in the middle? And “Normal” isn’t really all that smart, honestly?

Half the population is dumber than that.

So whenever you feel like you’re surrounded by morons, that is not your imagination. You are.

    1. “These people do exist.”

      Low Information Voters, LIVs? Sure.
Pretend that you don’t spend some of your time at SDA, the Phantom.
Pretend, like most people, that you don’t enjoy knowing about politics and you just float along watching TV programming instead of being unplugged.

Out of NOWWHERE*, with no prior warning of note, America starts bombing Iran and President Trump says your country is at war.

President Trump is a guy noteable for being a peacemaker in his first term.**

Any LIV would be shocked by the war with Iran. To them, there was no cause nor forewarning.
Why then would a trade war with Canada not come as equally shocking to them?

*( Americans love talking about nowhere, just count the number of mentions in any TV production or movie)
**(I think DJT should have gotten the Nobel Prize for Peace for his first term moving the American Embassy to Jerusalem and brilliantly sideling the Paleosimians who never ever negotiated in good faith)

  16. Middle aged man, (in a T-shirt) wife and dog.
Interestingly vague, but my first question is are they recieving government subsidies?
I know you can’t ask that but typically what you have here is a blue collar male with his second wife (no kids in this marriage but he has two elsewhere) an overweight dog they can’t afford out touring and buying bric a brac they don’t need and can’t afford etc. The wife doesn’t work but used to be a school secretary. I also suspect a % of disability on either side, no 4 yr. college would have them as they couldn’t over come the quotas so associate’s degrees or less neting zero capacity for critical thinking. AND, most importantly, they don’t read, anything.
A preface and a question for this couple:
I understand Trump is a bit of a bomast
I get that Trump is a blowhard but do you know why Trump is doing what he is doing and why our Prime Minister is doing what he is?
Neither is who you think they are.
    But anyhew…. nice meeting you.
    The answer is C. Pathetic

  17. Brainwashed. They have to believe everything or their entire world view craters. This is why doubling down and failing up are so prevalent.
