            The probabilities, at this moment, of the U.S. invading Canada within the next 6 months (minus a Black Swan event) are over 1000000 to 1. In short, not happening. Taken out on a 2 year timeline, the probability goes down to 1000 to 1, very unlikely (but the probability of a Black Swan event does go up significantly, at present that is a probability worth noting). These conditions are changing rapidly, given some of the other factors in other sectors…and your government isn’t helping, and neither is a large portion of your population.

            However, this event (helped along by rapidly deteriorating economic conditions) may push that potential event horizon back closer to the original odds. Seems some Canadians are getting a bit tired of the economy plus are more than a bit freaked out by this.

            In all likelihood, the probability of some sort of Emergency Act being passed in Canada, much like the one during the trucker protest is at better than even odds though, and by spring of next year (this may also trigger something in my country; we’ll have to see).

    For example, has the Canadian news reported on the US floating a $7 Billion loan to Argentina to assist them in developing their Oil and Mineral potential. The caveats to the loan are specifically structured to help companies operating in Argentina purchase equipment from American manufacturers and hire U.S. firms. And, we’re talking transport and utility grids, including railways, pipelines, ports, power networks, and digital infrastructure.

    So, in addition to likely setting up another competing source to Canada on Oil and Minerals, the US is securing significant revenue from the construction phase as well. Is the CBC reporting this? Or is this type information off limits from political expediency?

  25. Leftist Canadians are smug pricks who believe Canada has leverage against the U.S. I particularly laugh when the imbeciles say “shut off all oil, gas and electricity to the U.S.” and never realizing that to do so would mean it would be cut off from Canada as well.

    In fact, I would love to see Line 5 into Ontario shut off. Boy, would that ever tune up the smug pricks.

    1. I would expect to see sometime in December a statement from Trump something along the line of:
      “Due to the extreme environmental risk posed by the aging and decrepit Line 5 Pipeline, and to protect the downstream waters of Lake Huron, Lake Erie and Lake America, and in consideration of the Canadian governments concern over the global warming threat posed by oil consumption, the United States government will regretfully shutdown Line 5 until other considerations for oil transport are in place. We realize that this may cause some hardship in Canada over the coming Christmas and New Year season, however some sacrifices have to be endured to save the planet. Rather than freeze in the dark we invite Canadians to resume their past practices of vacationing in Florida and the other Southern States during this upcoming Festive Season. Thank you for your attention to this detail.”

      You can bet the farm if Carney has considered an invasion from America then Trump has considered shutting down Line 5. Why send in troops when you can bring a country to its knees and senses by just turning off a tap.

  26. took me an inordinately long long long time to realize what was LOST when the firecrackers were all siezed and banned. to whit, yes some kids get hurt. esp the stoooopid ones. but, a LOT more are severely hurt *every week* in auto collisions, right? and here’s the catch, SOME kids gain a curiosity regarding the whole issue of ‘things that go bang’ which can lead to careers as an adult in ‘things that go bang’ like building demolition or chemistry in general etc.
    same rationale when ALL the firearms are seized, NO ONE growing up learns hunting skill, the relaxing satisfaction of a zen like experience of a successful day at the target range, etc etc.
