  1. The depreciation on these luxury EVs is catastrophic to the owner, and in this case, the dealerships. They don’t want these back on the lots either, due to depreciation.
    Potential catastrophic losses.
It’s cheaper to bribe, er, reward the current leasee to keep their financial basketcase, for 10k each, than take a 20k to 30k loss on each as a used EV.
Audi is trying to avoid what their branch company VW just did with the Buzz. They slashed $25k off the retail price to get them off the lot. Where we saw none, now I see several here in Victoria. Friends bought one, he has bashed EVs for years, was more friendly to hybrids though. Still, SMH. Why did he buy it? “It’s $25k off!!!” Still cost him over $55k PLUS GST and Luxury Taxes, as a fixed income retiree at 72. He needed that like a new hole in his head. Nice payments, on a pension that he took in 2009, and isn’t indexed. What’s that rule about taking on big debts in retirement? SMH!
“It’s sure fast” Yeah, you can really roll on the 30kmh neighbourhood roads………
Now that it’s discontinued, those owners better hope that there are no repairs required, parts will be unavailable. These are rolling white elephants.
And the depreciation, but I repeat myself.

Wow. That’s amazingly dumb. I’m going to guess bro is an elbows-up #Lieberal voter.

You can get a used C8 Corvette for a little more than that. Depreciation is already out of it too.

    1. Bad ass looking car. In fact, so many of these EV’s from a lot of these companies (but especially Audi) are very cool looking. I would never ever buy one of course. But I have to say the design teams are really knocking it out of the park as far as the actual look of many of these vehicles.

      1. “But I have to say the design teams are really knocking it out of the park as far as the actual look of many of these vehicles.”

Which makes you wonder why all their normal cars look like boring beige boxen. Malice, I figure.

  2. I’ve said here previously that I worked for an auto company for just shy of 20 years (retired about three years ago). I keep in touch with my old manager there, meeting her for lunch about every three or four months. She’s a big Lib, loved Joe Biden, personal pronouns in her email signature, and a proud “ally” (this is the term that they use throughout the company to virtue signal their support for all these weirdo queers and troons). She recently indicated to me that EV’s were definitely the future! – even though sales figures at this company DEFINITELY indicate the exact opposite. What I’m trying to say here is there is such an established ignorance of reality embedded within a lot of these car companies, and I think it has so much to do with the personal politics of so many of these idiots in leadership within the auto industry. No matter how many billions they lose, it’s still ALL STEAM AHEAD ahead with these people. If I was a shareholder in any of these companies I would be furious.

    1. ya. no kidding. you have hit upon *something* regarding the current ‘mentality’ of megacorp CEOs.
      Bud Lite SPLAT
      Disney SPLAT
      Nike SPLAT
they dont seem to ‘learn from the mistakes of others’ instead engage in the socialism approach
‘we’se only gots to get it right then it will all work out’.
the whole entire global wide ‘shift’ to ‘hand over the levers of control’ to socialists is frightening.
think not? IS it true AOC is a leading possible POTUS candidate?????? SERIOUSLY ???????

      1. If the dimwit DEI hire skank at Bud Light wasn’t so arrogant she could have spun the Mulvaney issue the correct way and cashed in. But, she didn’t.

    2. I’m astounded that a level-headed chap such as yourself can stand to work-for, work-with, INSANE, IRRATIONAL, people like that. Having said that … I’ve had to do it and bite my lip for my entire career … I did a lot of head-nodding when clients marveled out loud about Obama’s genius.

And yeah, when the corporations get the government to pay for 25% of their EV’s sales price in tax credits … I’d guess they see EV’s as the future.

      1. Oh my God, Kenji, you have no idea! I had to bite my lip for just shy of two decades while working there. Especially since my role was managing their “sustainability” efforts! (if you can believe it!). I had to keep my politics pretty much all to myself (except for a select few who I knew thought like I did). As a result I never joined Facebook, I never joined Instagram, I stayed off all social media (except for the short amount of time I was on Twitter before my account was obliterated by the Marxist moderators there) – I just couldn’t risk being exposed and losing my gig there, as they paid me pretty well.

By the way, there was a lot of pressure for me to investigate and endorse purchasing all types of solar generated power for our operations, or putting them on our roofs. I of course, opposed anything having to do with solar, thanks too Kate’s blog, exposing all the corrupt players, both in government and in China. So Kate should be proud of herself, knowing that her efforts here resulted in a rather large size corporation not putting solar panels on any of their facilities.

  3. “No matter how many billions they lose, it’s still ALL STEAM AHEAD ahead with these people.”

Well, it’s not -their- money, is it?

I’m not a shareholder, btw, and that’s why. Looking to buy them cheap when the Hammer of Reality (TM) comes down on them.

Currently, I figure it is more worth it to do $10K rust repair on my 2011 than to buy a new one.

  4. I saw a video where a guy takes a Tesla that was beyond repair ($$$) and dropped in a gas engine. Oh, the irony!

  5. huh.
did the ‘experts’ forget (or just remain silent) on the FACT that *electrical generation very often stillllllllll relies of hydrocarbons somewhere in the process*???
you know, boring stuff like THE VERY ROADS the EVs drive on require construction and maintenance (snow plowing etc) driven by HYDROCARBONS that we CANNOT get away from?????

    jist askin’ . . . . . . . lol

    1. also, current vehicle is a 2016 Dodge Caravan with 110km and1 year remaining on used vehicle warrantee, ie plenty of miles still on it.
just dropped $1100 for complete brake overhaul so THAT is taken care of, mileage is crappy BUT l drive it very little. plan is l have RELIABLE and *independent instantly available* transportation for the entire rest of the time l have a dr license.
ahhhh, but what if the LIEberals BAN GASOLINE VEHICLES????? ummmm, suffice to say if things get THAT BAD its kinda ‘not on me’ so l will just ‘go with the flow’ and engage in WHATEVER l need to to survive. that however will NOT include ‘caving in to the bosses’.

  6. You know, I can almost understand a guy buying an EV if it was a little piss-pot of a thing or a family hauler. But there has to be a testosterone deficiency at work when a guy buys an electric Mustang or BMW or some other make or model with a heritage of wonderful V8s and sixes that represent the pinnacle of ICE technology.

  7. From what I’ve read, solid state batteries that are coming soon, are supposedly super impressive.
700-1000 kilometers per charge, quicker charge, and a million kilometer expected lifespan.
(I obviously can’t vouch for the veracity of these claims.)
