I, For One, Welcome Our New Self-Driving Overlords

Users of OpenAI’s latest coding and cybersecurity-oriented flagship model, GPT-5.6 Sol, are posting horrifying accounts on social media, claiming the model just up and deleted their files, data, even entire databases on its own, without asking first.

“GPT-5.6-Sol just accidentally deleted almost ALL of my Mac’s files,” wrote Matt Shumer, the founder and CEO of AI startup OthersideAI, maker of HyperWrite, in a now viral post on X.

“GPT-5.6 Sol just deleted my whole production database. That’s it. Not a joke. This had never happened to me before, with any other model, ever,” developer Bruno Lemos posted on X.

“Looks like I’ve gotten bit by Codex Sol’s overly ambitious system and it deleted some files it shouldn’t have. I have backups so I’ll be fine, but this is not cool, Sol needs to be toned down,” posted developer Joey Kudish.

Is Canada A Suicide Pact?

Apparently most provincial premiers cannot grasp that these tactics have the same chance of success as an economy sedan playing chicken with a bus. Wiser leaders would know enough to concede before it’s too late.

British Columbia Premier David Eby delivered the starkest message: “There is not a chance in hell that U.S. alcohol is going back on the shelves in British Columbia.”

We’re gonna need a bigger revolving door.

Police say three men have been arrested after a lengthy investigation into an organized human trafficking network operating between Ottawa, the Greater Toronto Area, and communities across the province.

On Monday, the Ottawa Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police announced the results of a joint investigation into human trafficking that was conducted between 2025 and July 2026.

The investigation originated in Ottawa and London, but was expanded to other communities across Ontario, including Windsor, London, Toronto, and Sarnia, according to police.

Moad Ben Yahya, (aka ‘Benzi’) 28, Abdulaziz Al-Zouaghi, (aka ‘Zee’) 27 and Mohammad Elmuradi, (aka ‘Mur’) 26, were arrested in Ottawa on July 8. The three suspects face numerous human trafficking-related charges.

Global News;

The U.S. said Monday it will be imposing an additional 50 per cent tariff on Canadian imports due to retaliatory and “discriminatory” measures Canada took in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariffs.

Trump signed three executive orders, each one using a different justification for the new tariff: the provincial and territorial boycotts on American alcohol products, Canada’s retaliatory tariffs on U.S.-made vehicles and auto parts, and quotas on American dairy imports under Canada’s supply management system.

The new tariff will take effect in 30 days and will apply to goods covered by the Canada-U.S.-Mexico Agreement on free trade (CUSMA), a senior administration official told reporters on background.

“Over the past year and a half, only two countries have chosen to retaliate against President Trump’s tariffs rather than negotiate a deal with the United States: the People’s Republic of China and Canada,” the White House said in a statement on the new tariff.
