The ban affects 581 million dollars of U.S. booze. That’s a significant amount to be sure.
But it has given us the opportunity to affect 20 billion dollars of Canadian goods. That’s a far more significant amount.
No, it isn’t about the booze nor the milk. BUT…they are under the USMCA umbrella and are products that the U.S. has charged Canada with breaking said treaty in the past (and not only in the past year or so, and not without some evidence).
