Users of OpenAI’s latest coding and cybersecurity-oriented flagship model, GPT-5.6 Sol, are posting horrifying accounts on social media, claiming the model just up and deleted their files, data, even entire databases on its own, without asking first.
“GPT-5.6-Sol just accidentally deleted almost ALL of my Mac’s files,” wrote Matt Shumer, the founder and CEO of AI startup OthersideAI, maker of HyperWrite, in a now viral post on X.
“GPT-5.6 Sol just deleted my whole production database. That’s it. Not a joke. This had never happened to me before, with any other model, ever,” developer Bruno Lemos posted on X.
“Looks like I’ve gotten bit by Codex Sol’s overly ambitious system and it deleted some files it shouldn’t have. I have backups so I’ll be fine, but this is not cool, Sol needs to be toned down,” posted developer Joey Kudish.
Huh? Now we can all be CANCELED … virtually … and thoroughly.
Imagine that? My instincts warned against trusting “the cloud” to safeguard my data and information … and I was correct.
The data that we, Joe Public, control is miniscule. Banking, insurance, education and work history, and who knows what else, all on someone’s cloud. At the mercy of AI, programmers, hackers, or the government itself.
I failed French. So I didnt even think of trying Latin. And I’m sure as hell not going to spend a second trying to decipher Ancient or Modern Geek.
So glad I busted my ass, scrimped, saved, never bought any jewelry, denied myself cable TV, etc etc etc so that I could retire at 56 in November 2023, never once having to utilize AI, even though it was beginning to breathe down people’s necks where I worked.
I remember when our IT department migrated everyone’s files to a new server/cloud (whatever – I don’t understand these things!) in 2018 and they managed to lose a whole bunch of mine and other people‘s files. I’ve never trusted “the cloud” since.
The “cloud.” What a stupid euphemism.
The “cloud” is a pile of remote servers in data centers managed by 3rd parties so one can store a million photos and crap that bogs down one’s personal computer, etc.
If people deleted more useless crap, the “big data” issues would lessen.
Instead, we have to build more infrastructure and waste more energy and water.
But it’s worth it so retards can talk to AI friends and all that rot, eh, wot?

Wow. What a thing to have lived. Yes, I’m jealous.
I’m a serious hard bop fan, but with my folk-rock roots what I adore most is Fusion. It’s why I’m FIRST a Steely Dan Fan … then everything else. My ears have ALWAYS heard the Jazz in Joni’s music. Her vocal twisting, turning and unexpected syncopation has always sounded like Jazz to my ear. It’s what made me a raving fan from the very beginning becoming blown away by her First Jazz lp IMHO – Court and Spark.
And this … one of my all time favorites … is … is … pure … Folk-Rock-Hard Bop. LOL
