Documents reveal the Liberals’ Climate Change department paid the World Economic Forum (WEF) to produce a report that made an economic case for their environmental agenda, including the ever-increasing carbon tax.
In August 2019, the Environment and Climate Change (ECCC) department’s then-minister, Catherine McKenna, gave $493,937 of taxpayer dollars to the WEF to produce the report, as revealed in response to an Order Paper Question sent by Conservative MP Leslyn Lewis.
Specifically, the documents reveal the ECCC gave money “to enable [the WEF] to produce and disseminate a report that will establish the business and economic case for safeguarding nature.”
“This report will be directed at senior decision makers in governments and businesses who have the influence and ability to shift business-as-usual approach,” the ECCC stated. [Emphasis added]
In the report provided six months later, the WEF sourced papers favouring a carbon tax. It concluded its policy recommendations by stating, “What is required is bold policy ambition and decisive political leadership to signal that business-as-usual is no longer viable.” [Emphasis added]

The China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development receives funding from an organization founded by a British hedge fund manager who has previously bankrolled the radical Extinction Rebellion group.
The billionaire backing the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, a key player in the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), has also donated extensively to radical Extinction Rebellion activists.
The CCICED, a joint venture between the Chinese Communist government and Canada, is chaired in part by Environment Minister Steven Guilbeault.
Minister Guilbeault travelled to China this fall on a diplomatic mission to participate in the annual general meeting of the joint China-Canada venture.
Ding Xuexiang (丁薛祥), a former top adviser to Xi Jinping, is the official head chairperson of the committee, ranking number six in the CCP Politburo pecking order and currently acting as the vice-premier of the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Xuexiang and Guilbeault are flanked on the executive by his overseas counterpart, Huang Runqia (黄润秋), minster of ecology and environment.

Hope that the trial of two Freedom Convoy organizers would last only four weeks may be dashed after the defence raised complaints about receiving heaps of new evidence three days after the trial began.
Justice Heather Perkins-McVey told the court there is a potential risk for the trial to go “off the rails,” if it continues to evolve in the way it has been going. She used the day of court time on Friday to try to “crystallize the evidence” for the remainder of the trial.
Before that, there was a sense of tension in the courtroom as Crown and defence lawyers sparred over the timing of the delivery of binders full of text messages.
The justice called a short recess to step away from the bench to “settle” herself after telling the lawyers she was “very unhappy” about the late-stage disclosure.
“This should have been done well before the trial,” she chided before leaving the courtroom.

After months of deliberations, the federal government is launching a public inquiry into foreign election interference in Canada, and has found a judge to lead it.
Minister of Public Safety, Democratic Institutions and Intergovernmental Affairs Dominic LeBlanc announced Tuesday that Quebec Court of Appeal Justice Marie-Josée Hogue will serve as commissioner to lead the probe, which will look beyond China to other foreign meddling.
“Justice Hogue will be tasked with examining and assessing interference by China, Russia, and other foreign states and non-state actors, including any potential impacts to confirm the integrity of, and impacts on, the 2019 and 2021 general elections at the national and the electoral district levels,” LeBlanc said.

“We do not expect this to be the trial of the Freedom Convoy,” Lich and Barber’s lawyers said in a joint statement Friday.
“The central issue will be whether the actions of two of the organizers of a peaceful protest should warrant criminal sanction.”
Lich told a federal inquiry last year that when she told supporters to “hold the line,” she wasn’t encouraging them to stay in the capital, but rather to “stay true to your values in the face of adversity.”
The trial is expected to last at least 16 days, and is likely to include hundreds of social media posts by Lich, Barber and others, including videos that were livestreamed throughout the protest. Organizers used the live videos to document their experience and share thoughts and updates to supporters.
The court will likely also consider Barber’s private text messages with Lich, which were obtained by Ottawa police and entered as evidence by the Crown during one of Lich’s bail hearings last year. There is a publication ban on any messages regarding anyone other than Lich and Barber.

Good morning, folks. In a shocking turn of events out of Eastern Canada – or maybe not so shocking given the liberal tide sweeping Ontarios institutions – Ontario’s court has just ruled against the renowned professor and free speech advocate, Dr. Jordan Peterson. Yes, you heard that right. Dr. Peterson, an individual who has always advocated for intellectual freedom and has pushed against the stifling boundaries of political correctness, has been ordered to undergo – wait for it – social media training.
So, what’s his big crime? Well, Peterson, a well-respected member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario, dared to use his online platform to comment on various public issues – including giving his opinion on a plus-sized model and actor Elliot Page. For this, the governing body received complaints and deemed that Peterson’s public statements could possibly be “professional misconduct.” Can you believe that? This is where we’re heading – criticize or merely have a different perspective on mainstream liberal narratives, and you might be at risk of losing your professional license.
Dr. Peterson did what any sane person would. He challenged this decision, arguing that his political commentary isn’t within the college’s jurisdiction. But the Ontario Divisional Court didn’t see it that way. They upheld the college’s decision, claiming it’s within their mandate to regulate the profession “in the public interest.” And, of course, they added the cherry on top by asserting it doesn’t affect his freedom of expression. Sure, just undergo forced training for expressing your opinions. Sounds very free to me.
Remember, Jordan Peterson isn’t just some random figure. He’s a retired University of Toronto psychology professor who’s made waves with his deep critiques of liberal culture and has penned the successful book, “12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos.” But apparently, in today’s climate, academic achievements and a career dedicated to the exploration of free thought means little if you don’t toe the line of the so-called ‘woke’ agenda.
When one looks at the latest ruling against Jordan Peterson in Ontario, it’s hard not to think that we’re witnessing the makings of a Banana Republic in action.

Justin Trudeau’s environment minister, Steven Guilbeault, is pulling double duty as an official adviser to the Chinese government. Turns out, he also wants to make Beijing an ally on the environmental issue and will head to coal-powered China at the end of the month after lecturing Canada’s premiers on using fossil fuels.[…]
Guilbeault is going to a meeting of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development. It is described as a think tank but is actually a creation of China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment.
The ministry, part of the Communist Party of China, selects the leadership as well as “providing guidance for its operations, implementation, and daily management.” The council is tasked with conducting research and offering proposals to the Chinese government.
Guilbeault is also currently listed as Executive Vice Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the CCICED. He sits alongside Ding Xuexiang, who serves as the chair of the CCICED. Xuexiang is also the first vice premier of the People’s Republic of China and stands just behind Xi Jinping in the pecking order of the Communist Party of China.
