How much? A zillion? Surely more than that!

NDP claim coal refurbishments will cost even more, while SaskPower minister tours Boundary Dam and Estevan mine

On a day when the Minister Responsible for SaskPower was touring the work done on the coal-fired Boundary Dam Power Station Unit 4 and the nearby Estevan coal mine, the Saskatchewan NDP was quoting another number, their highest yet, as an estimated cost of the coal refurbishments. But what are those numbers based on?
Pipeline Online digs into that analysis, and finds the scenarios each to have significant flaws.

  1. Money for Nothing, cont.
Funny how the obvious step of removing carbon pricing reduces the 20 year cost estimate by $16.2 billion.

  2. Scenario 0 is remarkably similar in its deceptive construction to the now thoroughly discredited RCP8.5 authored by the IPCC.

  3. L – Jim Warren’s article and illustrative charts are excellent. If Canada had a free press. He’d be the go to guy. Facts and reasoning in the pursuit of truth is so out of fashion in a mass media-verse.

But fear and “Climate Crisis”, SARS 2.0 Covid19 is “novel” (not we got through SARS 1.0 alright and found a treatment); but SARS 2.0 must be equivalent to the Black Death, Bring Out Your Dead and throw them on the wagons! “The sky is falling!” screamed Chicken Little”. Only Chicken Littles qualify as government approved journalists. Thus qualifying for government(taxpayer) subsidies. The Panic-demic revealed how the news is one panic worthy crisis after another and has been so for a long time.

  4. Hahahaha ha ha … more “experts” tell us that oil and gasoline pricing is solely dependent on supply and demand. How quaint. How pre-computer age. How pre-dynamic pricing age.

Tell that to Vegas hotel pricing during The Final Four. Same number of rooms … 3x pricing.

The oil companies calculate … day-by-day … the price at which demand will drop precipitously and crash the economy and crash their business. Sure … a shortage of oil … or a prediction of a shortage of oil ‘should’ cause a sharp rise in… according to this article the sharpest rise in history! As if the oil companies don’t understand the price point at which they will collapse economies and collapse their own business profits.

So yeah … keep believing that “supply” and demand drive oil prices. That’s such a precious opinion.

    1. Brent price today: 89.60/bbl USD -.19%
      WTI: 83.39 -.33%
COMEX: 83.37 (it’s saying -.9%, but that doesn’t seem correct, maybe it is)
Those are the prices I pulled off the internet just right now, so a quick look.

That’s approximately a six dollar spread.

      1. All because Trump promised to “hit ‘em hard” (The radical Islamist Terrorist Iran)? And then did … sorta. Sorta … because this titty-for-tatty is half-measure after half-measure … which is only half-American.

  5. That’s how much the government figures they can charge consumers to break the consumers’ finances. Your utility rate is a weapon they use against you.
