Keir Starmer’s Britain

Where the foxes caper unmolested, the government packs your school lunch and the death watch has begun.

Sir Keir Starmer will announce as early as tomorrow that he is quitting as Prime Minister in the wake of Andy Burnham’s decisive victory in the Makerfield by- election, it was claimed last night.

The PM was said to have reached the conclusion that his position was no longer tenable after talking to Cabinet colleagues, No 10 advisers, union leaders and key Labour donors.

Sources insisted Sir Keir, who is this weekend discussing his future with his wife Victoria at their country retreat Chequers, had yet to make a final decision.

However, senior Labour figures told The Observer that they believed a clear statement could come from the PM as early as tomorrow or later this week.

The Libranos: Call The Bookkeeper

It’s a 3B$ bailout of BC developers, and even the CBC is mad about it.

B.C. is facing a glut of empty condos. Thousands of Metro Vancouver units are sitting empty and some developers are facing insolvency.

Now, some housing experts are questioning a plan by the federal and provincial governments to buy some of those vacant units and turn them into affordable housing.

They say it amounts to a multi-billion dollar bail out for developers who refuse to lower prices to reflect a sluggish real estate market.[…]

Yan has a lot of questions about the plan by Mark Carney and David Eby to spend up to $3 billion to buy vacant condos in “priority growth areas” and turn them into affordable housing.

Recent data from the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation shows that as of last month, there were 4,376 completed condos sitting empty in Metro Vancouver, a 76 per cent increase from the year before.

Yan has crunched the numbers, with his analysis showing that a third of all condos without owners in Metro Vancouver cost over $1 million.

He questions how deep a discount the governments can get to make those units truly affordable.

Wrong question.

If It Weren’t For Fake Hate

Daily Wire (paywalled);

In this new indictment, the DOJ alleges that a high-level [Southern Poverty Law Center] official — the director of their “intelligence project” — was sleeping with an informant in a white supremacist group called the “National Alliance.” The group was founded by William Luther Pierce, who wrote “The Turner Diaries,” which inspired the Oklahoma City bombings.

On top of that, according to the indictment, the SPLC was funneling more than a million dollars to this particular “white supremacist,” while their “intelligence director” was sleeping with him.

Here’s an apparent picture of the intelligence director:

The New York Post reports that the SPLC official in question is “believed to be Heidi Beirich, a 58-year-old fascism expert who was the director of intelligence at [the SPLC] between 2012 and 2019.”

Think about how on-the-nose this is. The SPLC was going around saying “f*ck fascists,” and what do you know? They were f*cking fascists. And funding them too.

NY Post has lots, lots more.
