The most frightening thing about all of this is those idiots can vote.
I’m not optimistic about how this is going to turn out. There are rattlings of a plea deal. Death Penalty has been off the table since day one ( or more accurately, 1963 which was the last time NY State offed someone). I could see Mangione getting a gift….(20 years for murder with a five year gun violation running concurrently; with potential for parole in 10).
I’d be pissed off, but I could see it happening. And, I certainly could see a NY Judge approving it. The question is whether the prosecutors (State and Federal) are actual prosecutors or political hacks. I think we know the answer to that on the State level.
Expect Mangione to try and leverage a “double jeopardy” ruling.
