A Scandal Called “Farmgate”

And it’s not about South Africa’s murdered farmers.

South Africa is facing deep political turmoil and corresponding uncertainty across markets amid growing calls for President Cyril Ramaphosa to step down over an emerging bizarre scandal centered on the alleged theft of $580,000. The over half million in cash was literally found stuffed in a sofa at a farm that Ramaphosa owns. The timing of the crisis couldn’t be worse given long-awaited economic reforms had only just begun to take shape and improve the country’s outlook.

The mysterious cash payment has sparked outrage particularly among the opponents of the ruling African National Congress, and with his allies holding emergency consultations. On Thursday South African media is reporting President Ramaphosa is to imminently address the nation as prospect for his resignation grows, and as he faces impeachment.

More: Ramaphosa came to power after the ANC forced Jacob Zuma to step down following an almost nine-year tenure during which the government estimates more than 500 billion rand ($29 billion) was stolen from state coffers.

Groomer Kingdom

John Nolte;

Disney’s latest animated feature, the gay, green Strange World, just tanked at the box office.

Gee, what a shock. You mean no one wants to waste their Thanksgiving weekend having their children prematurely sexualized by groomers with a side order of enviro-guilt?

Strange World cost anywhere from $150 million to $180 million to produce. Add at least another $50 to $100 million to promote, and what you have here is a straight-up catastrophe, a quarter of a billion — with a “B” — write-off […] on course for a three-day opening weekend of just $15.8 million. Over the five-day holiday weekend, it is estimated to reach only $20 to $23 million.

[…]

Strange World’s environmental propaganda sounds obnoxious enough. But Disney also had to add a gay subplot involving two teenage boys…

Adult sexuality in a kids’ movie.

Why?

We.

All.

Know.

Why.

Failure is unlikely to deter them.

Poetic Justice

The Simulation does have a mean streak.

A criminal justice reform advocate who helped pass sweeping changes to the criminal code including reducing sentences for those convicted of crimes in Washington, D.C., was shot and killed in the city last Tuesday, just hours before the city council passed the bill.

Kelvin Blowe, 32, worked as a policy and advocacy associate at DC Justice Lab and testified before the DC city council about reforming the city’s justice system.

Around 5:25 a.m. on Nov. 15, he was on the way home from his job as a security guard when he was shot and killed in the southeastern part of the city.

“It’s kind of hard to put into words what it feels like to see his work come to fruition without being able to share in that celebration with him,” Patrice Sulton, Executive Director DC Justice Lab, told Fox 5 DC. “In some ways the timing of it is an added injury on top of the loss. And I think we lost a really powerful voice in a really important movement and that’s not something that we’ll be able to replace.”

The city council passed the criminal justice overhaul hours after his death. If it is signed by Mayor Muriel Bowser, then it will get rid of most mandatory minimum sentences, expand who is eligible for jury trials, and reduce maximum penalties for burglaries, carjackings and robberies, according to the Washington Post

Go Woke, Go Broke

Shakeup at the Groomer Kingdom.

Bob Iger has replaced Bob Chapek as Disney’s CEO, a shocking turn of events for the world’s largest media company that has been in turmoil ever since Iger stepped down as CEO in February 2020.

The shakeup that caught the entertainment industry and Wall Street mostly by surprise was confirmed by Disney’s board of directors late Sunday. There had been rumblings of a shakeup in the C-suite but the prospect of Iger returning to the CEO job still seemed far-fetched.

“We thank Bob Chapek for his service to Disney over his long career, including navigating the company through the unprecedented challenges of the pandemic,” said Susan Arnold, chairman of Disney’s board of directors. “The Board has concluded that as Disney embarks on an increasingly complex period of industry transformation, Bob Iger is uniquely situated to lead the Company through this pivotal period.”

Chapek’s ouster comes on the heels of a third-quarter earnings report that spooked Wall Street as spending on content and marketing for Disney’s direct-to-consumer platforms hit its projected peak of $1.5 billion in fiscal 2022. Even though the Disney had previously guided Wall Street to losses of that scale, and even as Disney+ posted subscriber growth for the quarter, the river of red-ink still took a toll on Disney’s stock price. Shares fell well below the $100 mark, to $90, on Nov. 9, the day after Disney’s after-market earnings report.

Hard Truths for the Hypocritical Left

While Giorgia Meloni directs her aim at French President Macron, everyone in France and every member of the Left in the West should feel equally lambasted by her truth bombs but, of course, we all know how conveniently they ignore the end effects of their disastrous policies.

NEW🧵: @PrideToronto exploited Cree artist Kent Monkman’s name on yet another federal grant.

This $1million @FedDevOntario grant was not included in Pride Toronto’s apology and KPMG review earlier this year, current leadership must be held accountable for this cover up.

Since 2019, this is the third federal grant that @PrideToronto used Kent Monkman’s name without permission.

This is the fourth federal grant where Pride Toronto promised benefits for Indigenous artists and communities that were never delivered. This now totals $2,850,000.

The grant required that @PrideToronto submit authorization from the Board of Directors, this enabled staff to administer the project funds. Pride Toronto submitted to @FedDevOntario forged signatures of the Board.

If It Wasn’t For Anti-Hate

There’d be no hate at all.

Today we learned that our board member lost their lawsuit against the Kays on a technicality. The judge found that he wasn’t the party they attacked. We were. It was frustrating sitting on the sidelines watching the Kays, in our opinion, mislead the court about antifascism.

If we had standing, we would have torn their testimony apart because the Kays only have a Fox News level understanding of antifascism. They still think it’s an organization, or a group, or an organized group, or something. They don’t know.

Awkward

Former NDP MLA pleads guilty to breaching Alberta’s Health Information Act:

Between Sept. 19 and 23, Dang’s computer program made 1.78 million queries using Kenney’s personal information. Dang admitted to RCMP the queries were randomly generated guesses aimed at revealing the premier’s health care number.

Court documents also refer to Dang’s attempts as a “brute force attack.”

After uncovering a woman’s healthcare number, Dang informed NDP chief of staff Jeremy Nolais and NDP director of communications Benjamin Alldritt of his findings, court documents show.

One month after informing Alldritt of his actions, the NDP promoted Dang to the party’s Democracy and Ethics critic role.

Emphasis mine.

From Storming the Beaches in Normandy to Suffering Microaggressions in Ottawa

What has happened to the once noble, proud people of Canada? When did Permanent Victimhood replace Honour, Pride, & Dignity? Has this devolution of the populace occurred solely because of Justin Trudeau or was he merely canny enough to capitalize on a large voting block of truly pathetic grown children?

Are all residents of Ottawa really this pathetic?

Update: Here’s another view of supporters of the Freedom Protest that you’re not going to see at the ongoing hearings. h/t LindaL
