There is nothing questionable about depiction of gay relations in media. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot and needs to adjust themselves because the future will be real difficult and painful for them.
You choose to ignore a key basic point here — this film is aimed at kids under ten. No self respecting teenager would be caught dead at this flick so it’s not a question of ‘depicting gay relationships in media’ as a norm when reaching a broad audience, it’s about inappropriately inserting sexualized plot line in a film purely targeted at young kids. I’m a gay male and I find it quite creepy. But then again I find introducing drag queens to kids’ reading programs a mistake because every drag queen I’ve ever met was self-absorbed, rude and devoid of listening skills. Not exactly a good fit fir children’s programming.
You keep using this phrase ‘inappropriately sexualizing’ but there’s nothing like that in the movie. No one has given any such example.
The plot line focuses on a sexual aspect of a relationship in a film designed for under ten’s. If you don’t understand that is sexualizing a film designed for that age group then you truly are dumb as a bag of hammers.

When parents have some say or choice in the content their kids are exposed to, be that in entertainment or education/(indoctrination), most work to protect their children from harmful influences.
