Equality Of Outcome Regardless Of Inputs

Or, Equity, Baby:

The genius of the “equity-focussed” policies, also being advanced in California and elsewhere, is that they are likely to have negative consequences for both ends of the ability spectrum. The cognitively untalented will be spared the normal incentives to master at least the basics, even the basics of behaviour, while the gifted will be denied access to advanced material more suited to their abilities, resulting in boredom and demoralisation.

Two birds, one stone.

New, Improved Parenting

By harnessing the untapped power of unrelatedness, diffused responsibility, and a total lack of attraction.

Readers are invited to ponder the appeal, for any gentleman with fatherhood in mind, of effectively becoming a sperm donor who is also expected to perform household chores, for many years, and to pay child maintenance. In a sexless relationship with random lesbians who may find him barely tolerable, a necessary complication. But this, it seems, is how one “redefines the family unit completely.” It’s “the ideal parenting setup.”

How Dare You Even Ask

Apparently, the professor was removed from his position as Dean for demanding the “abolition” of policing and incarceration, and demanding a “new, liberated society… free from violence and oppression.” And in which habitual criminals and assorted sociopaths roam freely and unimpeded.

In Professor Dettlaff’s imaginings, a world without physical consequences for robbery and predation would mean “individuals have everything they need to thrive.” Except, of course, any third-party protection from the aforementioned habitual criminals and assorted sociopaths. This “new, liberated society,” in which policing has been “firmly disavowed,” will, he insists, “truly keep us safe.”

Progressive “thought leader” is offended by an occasional request for evidence.

On Sex-Swapping Bond

We’re also told, “A gendered spin on the character can open up more potential for exploring Bond’s individuality.” And this exploration of the character’s individuality will apparently be achieved by erasing a rather fundamental aspect of the character – his maleness – and replacing him with an entirely different person of a different sex.

Readers are invited to ponder whether similar transitions might enrich the character of, say, Miss Marple, who, via similar logic, could be depicted as male, and as always having been male. Thereby exploring her individuality.

Mama Needs Her Hit

Ah, but “highly gendered” and “offspring-focussed” health care – for pregnant women and their babies – makes it “challenging” for sexually dysmorphic women who wish to be perceived as men, even while heavily pregnant. In short, “Screw the wellbeing of the baby, the inhibited lactation, and the risk of serious birth defects. Just jack me up on testosterone and refer to me as Sir.”

I paraphrase, of course. But nowhere near as much as one might hope.

On the unspeakable; on pronoun leverage; and on “queered” health care.

Waiting, Waiting, Waiting…

Its a feature not a bug.

Trust the Evidence- Intractable waiting lists

We are told that in the NHS in England, more than 7 million people are waiting for a hospital specialist or surgeon or whatever. Over 3 million patients wait over 18 weeks and 370 thousand over a year for treatment.

By any measure, these figures show we have an emergency on our hands – yes, a real one, not model-driven or PCR derived. Presumably, these are folk who have long-standing problems and need help. We do not know the makeup of their pathologies, but all are at risk in the forthcoming NHS winter crisis – we have become modellers and see the future.

Here, kitty kitty….

The most disturbing thing in this story is not that some kid identified as a cat and a teacher harangued students who wouldn’t play along.

The teacher at the Church of England’s Rye College in East Sussex reportedly told one student she was “despicable” after she refused to accept a classmate who identifies as a cat.

The 13-year-old girl and her friend were reprimanded at the end of a Year 8 “life education” class, in which they were told they can “be who you want to be and how you identify is up to you,” the Telegraph reported.

What’s really disturbing is the metamorphosis of a non-concept into a moral principle. If “how you identify is up to you”, culturally and politically this is going to lead to civil war. If the primacy of consciousness becomes a guidepost for life choices, what happens when some people “identify” as the “vanguard of the proletariat” or the “master race”?

MORE BIKE LANES

CKOM;

The City of Saskatoon is facing a $52-million shortfall as it begins its budget process for next year.

That revenue gap is “probably close to double” the amount that city administrators have faced in the past when starting the budget process, chief financial officer Clae Hack said at a media briefing on Wednesday.

If there are no cuts to services or future growth plans, city residents would face a property tax increase of 18.56 per cent next year and 6.95 per cent the year after, the city said. But the multi-year budget process for 2024 and 2025, which is starting this month and will wrap up in November, will be focused on lowering that number.

Hack stressed the city isn’t recommending a property tax rate at this point, just offering a “fully transparent view” of what administrators and city council will be wrestling with.

Yes, But Do You Have Them In Brown?

At which point, I’m tempted to ask how these target percentages relate to any actual expressed interest or aptitude – say, among school-leavers – or to any tactical utility, according to which an unusually high number of women and racial minorities would somehow confer a military advantage. Or are they, as seems to be the case, entirely arbitrary?

Trying It On, You Say

Another “non-binary” adventure in ladies’ changing rooms.

At which point, readers may note how Mr Firico’s professed “non-binary” status doesn’t mean that he’d be content in the men’s changing rooms, as an option, with either being fine, and instead grants, in his mind, an entitlement to violate store policy and the boundaries of women. He’s “not a man,” you see – and by the same logic, if that’s the word, not a woman either – but apparently, that women’s space is his kingdom now. And ladies who’d rather not get undressed near some random male interloper – whether that man is mentally ill or an opportunist pervert – are expected to shut up and comply. Because his identity, or feigned identity, trumps theirs.

It’s all terribly convenient.
