On Sex-Swapping Bond

We’re also told, “A gendered spin on the character can open up more potential for exploring Bond’s individuality.” And this exploration of the character’s individuality will apparently be achieved by erasing a rather fundamental aspect of the character – his maleness – and replacing him with an entirely different person of a different sex.

Readers are invited to ponder whether similar transitions might enrich the character of, say, Miss Marple, who, via similar logic, could be depicted as male, and as always having been male. Thereby exploring her individuality.

  1. Women can develop their own characters of interest to women.

    Actually they have: Harlequin Romances

  2. Even better: instead of a Bond chasing villains, why not a Bond chasing his gender(s) through new revelations and repeated transitions! 🙂

  3. “The name is Bond. Jane Bond.”

Ummmm…… nahhhhh. Doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.

  4. The so-called “wokerati” have taken it upon themselves to eradicate James Bond from popular culture. Their argument is that Bond epitomizes the notion of a straight, white, masculine male, a deplorable archetype that we should not encourage young boys to emulate.

    1. Well, ‘they’ did let Tom Cruise play Jack Reacher. Was that character assassination or what?
I refuse to watch it, even for free on TV.
I haven’t forgiven Lee Child for that travesty…

  5. Let’s have Liam Neeson play Martin Luther King in a biopic, then.

See how well that goes over…

  6. Hardly.. When the best you can do is dig up dead bodies so you can hang them again.. You are lost in the symbolism of your own politics..
James bond needs to be replaced with a woman as much as Taylor Swift needs to be replaced with a man..

Then when it fails.. You can redouble your efforts, because clearly your work is not done yet.. First you sort your garbage, then you celebrate it.. If we fail to agree its our fault for not being you, I guess..

Marxism is a cultural flesh eating disease.. We are running out of dead bodies to desecrate.. They are already in our schools and government.. They will be coming for you soon enough..

Im thinking .. The Spy Who Loved Me • Nobody Does It Better • Carly Simon is a fitting epitaph..

  7. Well, at least there is a weapon at our disposal. Do not go anywhere near that movie, and let no mention of it cross your lips. When it flops they will whine and say everyone is racist, but they will still lose their investment.
