The most disturbing thing in this story is not that some kid identified as a cat and a teacher harangued students who wouldn’t play along.
The teacher at the Church of England’s Rye College in East Sussex reportedly told one student she was “despicable” after she refused to accept a classmate who identifies as a cat.
The 13-year-old girl and her friend were reprimanded at the end of a Year 8 “life education” class, in which they were told they can “be who you want to be and how you identify is up to you,” the Telegraph reported.
What’s really disturbing is the metamorphosis of a non-concept into a moral principle. If “how you identify is up to you”, culturally and politically this is going to lead to civil war. If the primacy of consciousness becomes a guidepost for life choices, what happens when some people “identify” as the “vanguard of the proletariat” or the “master race”?
This one’s easy. The little girl’s father our mother should walk into the school, tell them they self identify as the teacher’s boss, and she’s hereby fired. There is no argument the teacher can make. This is who I want to be, and it would be despicable for the teacher not to accept my authority on the matter.

And bullies in school that police the bullshit. There was usually one or two bullies in a class, one or two weirdos, and everyone else stuck together in the normal (more or less crowd). That included whites, indians (dot and feather), blacks, el salvadorians, chinois, boy and girls.
Bring back bullying and ostracizing weirdos and this shit goes away. The majority of people remain in the 90-95% of the bell curve and the society manages on “normal” stat quo.
This is growing up in the 80s/90s through elementary and high school. We didn’t get the strap, but our parents did, and we still respected authority, fit in and knew how to get along with other people, and we focused more on shared interest and similarities rather than what made us different.

In this case, the bully was the school teacher. I don’t think that bullying is the answer that I would look for.
If that teacher got punched once in grade school it would probably have turned out to be a slightly better version of itself today. I.e. no bs, I.e. “suffer” a minor consequence earlier in life for being a little too off the reservation, helps to reign things in a little.
I know what you mean though, and I appreciate that. I’m being a little facetious here, buts crepes all mighty…this stuff is getting crazy and there’s more “natural” ways of handling it.

The teacher should be forced to clean the litter box.
When one thinks of the legal consequences of having identity choice, it really destroys the concept of God given identity and the need for equality among individuals. It creates uneven playing fields and nullifies protections against racism and hatred directed at individuals. In short it makes anyone an arbitrary target. What’s happening to Trump could soon happen to millions of MAGA supporters. Simply because someone can define an identity with defined legal vulnerabilities and link whoever they want to that identity. Subversion by trash nonsense with no Democrat judges opposed.

Is ‘Woke” not really all about ‘identity choice’ of one belief over another to the point of moralizing, castigating and enforcing through whatever societal means are open to abuse ?

It is my belief that once a person’s self worth is removed, then it is a fairly simple task to reprogram them to whatever is deemed expedient.

When I caught the story, one of my thoughts beyond my thorough head shaking, was, I bet that the idiot who identified as a cat, doesn’t eat cat food and kibble, and doesn’t use a litter box either. Although, I may be mistaken! Of course we are talking about a ten year old child here, and kids can be allowed a little musing, and maybe the parents are weird and support such things, but the teacher is the one who’s truly despicable for reinforcing such idiotic drivel!
First thing I thought of was the yahoos I went to school with would have commented . ” My cat likes to be petted, can we pet this cat.” The boys would have had a lot of fun at recess.

During the recording of the argument, the teacher can be heard saying “gender is not linked to the parts you were born with – [it’s] about how you identify”. [ETC]
