Just Another “Isolated” Incident
15 people were arrested at a New York amusement park after Muslim women in hijabs were denied entrance onto rides because of safety reasons related to their headgear. Here is an explanation of what initiated the violence:
Earlier, a park cashier told a Journal News reporter that a woman wearing a hijab either pushed or hit a ride operator who forbade her from going on the ride. She said a police officer tried to restrain the woman and the woman’s husband took offense, at which point a multiple-person fight broke out.

Daniel S. Hamermesh needs help with the word “radical”.
A more radical solution may be needed: why not offer legal protections to the ugly, as we do with racial, ethnic and religious minorities, women and handicapped individuals?
No, that would be the conventional solution.
Look, if the left wants to talk “radical” solutions the template exists, courtesy of their ideological forebears. So, why not just say it? All of these troublesome inequalities would evaporate if a “final” solution were implemented for the attractive able white male problem.

A real-life farce in Vancouver is starting to look a whole lot like something out of Hollywood. The National Post Editorial Board is rightfully condemning the complete lack of progress by the Vancouver Police on charging the June 15th rioters.
If you live in the Metro Vancouver area and would like to be a panelist on this subject on Roy Green’s radio program this Saturday around 1:30pm PDT then please send me an e-mail asap. No exceptions, you must live in the Vancouver area.

Homeless in Vancouver? There’s a app for that. The Tyee reports with a straight face;
Take VanShelter, an app (still in progress) that displays which shelters in the Downtown Eastside have available beds, in real time. The idea is that the shelters update the numbers on twitter, and if you are a subscriber to the service, get free text messages on your phone.

Free Free Dominion!
The Ontario Superior Court of Justice has just tossed out a defamation action by John Baglow (Internet Blogger Dr. Dawg) against Mark & Connie Fournier of FreeDominion. The Ontario court was very clear when dismissing the allegations put forth by Baglow. The court dismissed the Defamation Action and ordered Baglow to pay costs to the Fourniers.
Full decision – and fairly amusing flamewar chronicle – here. (pdf)
This is awkward: At the bottom of Page 3 and the top of Page 4 of the PDF it is revealed that Baglow started also posting as “Ms. Mew” in an effort to support his primary alias, “Dr. Dawg”.

In fact even then in policy application essentially an aspirational exhortation:
But the lady turned less than her successor (p. 3):
…During Margaret Thatcher’s premiership public spending grew in real terms by an
average of 1.1% a year, while during John Major’s premiership it grew by an average of 2.4%
a year…
Moreover, given economic growth, this happened:
…
The Thatcher government brought public spending down from 48.1 per cent of national income in that year to 41.6 per cent in 1987-1988…
