  1. Their solution has two parts, one is intelligent, high quality content. If they come up with that?
I’ll tell them what the second part is.
I think, I just made the first part too difficult for them.

  2. Who trusts them anymore to tell the truth, to pay for NYTimes Marxist propaganda?
    You have to be nuts.

  3. I think the NY times should be pushing the advantages of their print version over the iPad; for example the print version can be rolled up and used to swat flies or spread out to protect the floor from paint drips when one is painting. The first application can be done with the iPad but at much higher cost. An iPad is not something I’ll ever buy as I refuse to purchase a computer that I can’t write programs for.
Unless through some miracle truly objective journalists arise, the current incarnation of the MSM newspaper is dead and the future of news will be bloggers. Just look at the quality, depth and informed discussion at WUWT in comparison to totally unscientific drivel that the MSM supplies.

  4. Blogosphere “fact checking” may relieve frustrations somewhat, but the system has already been captured to the extent that, no matter who is voted in, they have to operate within the system.
Education, the political, the economic system, and religious systems are already captured. “Fact checking” won’t recapture them. Only pure truth will do that. And only when it’s time.
“Fact checkers” bemoan the scales over others eyes, while happily ignoring the scales over their own eyes.

  5. The Victoria Times Communist tried a few years ago, as a pay site, then gave it up, wonder of wonders. Since this spring, they once again, have gone to a pay site.
Why should I pay, when I can receive most of the same regurgitated ‘news’ from other canada.com websites (The Sun, Province). Oh, yeah, local ‘content’……the TC preaches to the choir (local government workers, envirofascists, poverty pimps) and has nothing really relevant to offer. It bashes businesses, yet relies on same for advertising revenue.
    Stupid is as stupid does.

  6. I used to work for a VERY well-known weekly newspaper based in Saskatoon. Their web traffic today is almost exactly the same as it was five years ago, despite investing a huge amount of money in they “digital direction”. They remain convinced that farmers want to read everything on smartphones.

  7. I pay $10.49 for the digital version of National Post to support an almost national newspaper counterweight to the Grope & Flail. However, I am beginning to reconsider as the Post seems to be moving left to accommodate their collaboration with CBC.
To stay viable, the print and digital media will have to survive from advertising.

  8. Good point, DanBC.
Media has to choose between pay for viewing and advertising revenue.
If they charge a fee to view their content, then people who won’t pay the fee don’t see the ads and the ad sponsors pull their support.
A lot of internet ads these days are really irritating in-your-face popups that are trickie to close.
If a site I’ve been visiting annoys me enough with these type of ads I e-mail them telling them to stop it or I’ll stop visiting.
The problem with content in the MSM isn’t something they are going to correct.
I think many of these papers(NYT) exist for propaganda and would rather go bankrupt than become trusted news sources.

“I think many of these papers(NYT) exist for propaganda and would rather go bankrupt than become trusted news sources.”
they are too ideqalogically spun to be able to actually identify the fact that they opine (to the left)rather than report
