Operation Fast and Furious

Finally, someone’s saying it out loud;

Your Department has made an enormous error in judgment. It instructed federally-licensed firearms dealers to illegally sell at least 2,000 guns that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) intended to be trafficked to drug cartels in Mexico. The results of this error in judgment have implicated the United States in well over one hundred deadly crimes and the deaths of two federal agents.
This not only raises serious questions about your ability to serve as the head of the Justice Department, but also begs the question of why an anti-gun Administration would knowingly force licensed firearms dealers to sell guns to violent criminals. I raise this because Operation Fast and Furious — if the facts of this case had not come to light — would have been used by this Administration as another false argument to attack law-abiding American gun owners.
The American people deserve to know if your Department had any intent to link the legal purchase of firearms here in the U.S. to crimes committed near our southern border. Operation Fast and Furious funneled firearms legally purchased at gun shops in the U.S. to known criminal syndicates to prove these syndicates have access to legal purchased weapons. This is a deliberate attempt to vilify and attack the millions of gun owners in America who value our Second Amendment and have never broken the law.

  1. That is because the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives decided to concentrate on the latter part of their name “Firearms and Explosives”!
This has now resulted in the “Dept. of Injustice” suffering what is known in the shooter’s world as a bad case of “BACKFIRE”.
I’m sure the NRA will have all their guns trained on Holder’s Dept for authorizing this ill conceived and badly executed plan to attack 2nd amendment rights. The ‘killshot’ by the Dept of Injustice will have only served to decapitate the enablers of this nonsense.

  2. The sad truth is that if Obama were to shoot and sodomize Eric Holder, he would get a bigger boost in the polls than Qaddafi’s biological conversion provided him. Its hard to believe that there remains a significant percentage of the population that still thinks Obama’s administration is doing a good job. I think we should start to refer to this group as “the cave people”.

  3. While Walsh’s definition of “begs the question” may be off a hair, Mike, I still love “Rocky Mountain Way”.
    You know; so there’s that!

  4. Obama is in a really tough spot.
If he keeps holder on, the inquiry deepens and the evidence mounts and the risk of damaging emails etc coming out – especially possibly linking people inside the white house to the scheme and/or evidence that an underlying motive was to damage the gun lobby – grows.
If he throws holder overboard, then the issue become page one above the fold even with the la times and the NYT. And the politcal damage could enormous and pressure for even deeper and far more publicized inquiries could be irresistible.
The chicago way is to do the latter – thus this scandal will grow like a cancer likely right up until election day. I hope the GOP has evidence bombs to drop along the way.

  5. The ALi Bama regime still thinks this is “below the radar” and their complicit media will succeed in suppressing this.
They sat on the Iranian assassination terror plot since may to divert attention..it didn’t. The internet is disseminating this F&F conspiracy and it is no longer completely under the radar.
This too good a bomb for the Republicans, in an election year….it WILL be used…no bout adoubt it…
IMHO it is too late for Ali Bama to just throw Holder under the bus..and proceed…and probably can’t because Holder knows where all the bodies are buried…

  6. To the left the deaths of millions are nothing in comparison to advancement of their ideologies.
In this case selling guns to known homicidal criminals to justify taking guns away from US citizens does not even rank in their thought processes as an issue. To them it was a good play gone badly, oh well move on to the next kick at the can.

  7. What’s really damning is they tried to pull this off on Arizona’s border. Nov. 2012 can’t come soon enuf for me. But for a sitting President to be involved in this caper to bypass the 2nd Admendment to take our guns is just inexcusable, Holder and Obambi should be tarred and feathered and run out of the country.
On another note, I have several Liberals on my email list (I have always believed keep your friends close and your enemies closer) , anyway, these Liberals claim they never heard of Fast&Furious, they thought I was talking about Vin Diesel. So I got to figure, either they are playing stupid, or the Alphabet Channels are not covering F&F. Probably both.

  8. Mexico’s attorney general still doesn’t have any answers on this fiasco.
n a statement released by Mexican Attorney General Marisela Morales, she called Operation Fast and Furious “an attack on Mexicans’ security.”
Morales told Mexican reporters that she is demanding a full and honest explanation from the United States government especially since evidence is being gathered that reveals the Obama administration was more involved in Operation Fast and Furious than top officials admitted in their sworn statements.

Can anyone here even fathom the outrage of the CBC if it was learned that Holder et al let guns walk to the Hells Angels in Quebec? Or how about arming the Red Scorpions or UN gangs in Vancouver.
If a Canadian cop got killed by a walked gun,,,should the gov’t ask for Holder to be extradited,,,and should the CBC care?

  9. Thanks for those clips ‘G’…yep the alphabet media should be all over this testimony.
Comment from the link provided is interesting…

As a trial lawyer, with prosecutorial experience, these clips left me stunned. That these clips did not dominate the nightly news is mind boggling.
This woman a former state and federal prosecutor? You have got to be kidding me. We are so screwed. So screwed.

  10. It’s my understanding that the POTUS, on assuming office, takes an oath to protect the constitution of the US. The 2nd Amendment is perhaps the most important part of the US constitution. Operation F&F was designed to create conditions which would allow BO and his marxist pals to introduce legislation which would be in violation of the 2nd Amendment. Prior to BO becoming TOTUS, the US Supreme Court ruled that the 2nd Amendment is an individual right. Thus, the TOTUS has violated his oath of office and should be impeached. I’m curious if there is any move to impeach Obozo in the works at this time?
While the MSM may attempt to hide F&F, they’d have a hard time trying to make an impeachment process disappear. Unfortunately there aren’t the senate votes necessary to impeach BO, but starting the process would be one way of publicizing the details of operation F&F. All of the NRA emails I get have reams of information on this operation and I was getting emails on F&F even before SDA first started mentioning it. At least Bill Clinton only had to explain stains on a blue dress.

  11. Thanks for the link Knight 99. While I didn’t care much for GWB as he was a statist RINO, he looks like a saint in comparison to BO.
Some nominally leftist organizations are coming out more and more against statist policies of the current US administration such as the EFF. The EFF pisses me off enough at times that I haven’t donated to them lately, but they’re getting more and more vocal about wanting statist copyright, DRM and unconstitutional spying legislation repealed.
BO is now firmly in second place in the category of the worst president of the US, but there’s still a year left in which he might take that title away from Abraham Lincoln, instigator of the war of northern aggression.

Unfortunately you’re right. The problem for a fair minded Harper government is that he is indeed the Prime Minister for ALL Canadians. “All Canadians” now means a large and growing minority of loons that need a bone thrown their way every so often to keep the streets safe.
We need to change that by going back into the education “System” from where it all started to go wrong post 1967. Short of that we are in some big trouble down the road.

  13. “The American people deserve to know if your Department had any intent to link the legal purchase of firearms here in the U.S. to crimes committed near our southern border.”
The question arises: why bother? It’s already widely known that a good number of the guns used illegally in the US and Mexico (and Canada, for that matter) originally comes from US gun retailers via straw purchasers. All illegal guns were legal once. Why would the Justice Department undertake such a high-risk operation if their intent was solely to “prove” the already proven link between “legal” firearm purchases (by gun-trafficking straw purchasers) and subsequent gun crimes in and outside the US?
No, Operation Fast and Furious, poorly conceived and tragic as it was, used the same operational principle as letting low-level drug buys happen in order to trace things back to the major drug cartel networks. The fact that the ATF lost track of some of the guns sounds more like the usual bureaucratic incompetence — really, is anyone surprised? — than any cloak-and-dagger political malfeasance.
Still, it’s a political mess now, and more heads will probably roll. But that’s no reason to entertain untenable conspiracy theories.

  14. Davenport said: “It’s already widely known that a good number of the guns used illegally in the US and Mexico (and Canada, for that matter) originally comes from US gun retailers via straw purchasers.”
Well that’s the point, isn’t it Davenport? It is widely -reported- that crime guns in Canada and Mexico all come from straw purchases in the USA, but the actual truth of the matter is they don’t. Those reports are -propaganda-.
Holder (and Barry!) had to ORDER both the ATF and the gun shops (who were very unwilling to play along) to let these guns by, because the measly trickle due to “normal” crime wasn’t enough to get anyone’s attention. Even MSNBC has trouble pimping a story like “Almost DOZENS of guns from the USA found in Mexico!!!”
The “good number” of straw purchased guns you refer to is in the low hundreds annually. Like, under three hundred or so. (Mostly found on Canadian Indian reservations as it happens.) Fast & Furious is over two thousand pieces. They armed a whole Mexican drug cartel. I think the conclusions from that pretty much make themselves.
You know where most criminal orgs in Mexico get their guns? China. Norinco to be specific. Crappy SKS’s and AK knock-offs. Through Cuba, Guatemala and other Central American banana republics.
But I suppose that doesn’t fit with your preconceptions, prejudices and blind faith in the news media. You need to do some research, girlie.
