Nine Out of 10 American Muslims Say They Vote Democrat, 76% Approve Of Obama’s Job Performance…
Is Rick Perry Too Stupid To Be President?
“I would therefore agree with the suggestion that in the future, our concern in this area is most appropriately directed at any employer who would even insinuate that someone with Mr. Chen’s extraordinary record of academic success might be somehow unqualified for work in a corporate law firm, or that such success might be somehow undeserved.”

Did you know? It takes 20 hours to drive the Hwy 281 route from Topeka, Kansas to Delisle, Saskatchewan – and the scenery never changes. It’s like I told somebody lately – The unspoken truth of “Canadian identity”? We are more like Americans than we are one another.
See you in the morning.
Post Torch Stress Syndrome
Citius, Altius, Fund Us:
The police guard for the 70-day Olympic torch relay will be offered psychological counselling to help them “reintegrate” after the event.
Some 28 unarmed Metropolitan Police officers will guard the Olympic flame as it journeys around the UK in 2012.
According to a Met spokesman,
“Occupational health specialists are already developing plans. The met already has specialists who work with officers. These include counsellors, occupational psychologists and other medical staff.”
Hey, can I borrow Jack for a minute?
Ten days ago The Globe and Mail published a facts-be-damned opinion piece by longtime NDP honcho Gerald Caplan in which he characterized concern about Islamism as being the strict purview of “Muslim haters” and racists who are “dedicated to inflaming hatred.” In a remarkable and rather surprising response, hundreds upon hundreds of commenters at the Globe and Mail tore Caplan a new one for his pontificating, condescending, politically correct royal “we” finger-wagging, and for his head-in-the-sand, polyanna-ish dismissal of the legitimacy of any concern about radical Islam.
In Caplan’s newest column — it begins “What an exit! What a classy way to go out” — the recently departed Jack Layton is uprighted to support Caplan’s previous column:
How disappointed Jack would have been had he seen the flood of ugly comments that last week’s column provoked…
Yeah – too bad he didn’t live long enough to express, in his own words, his acute disappointment with the unfavourable reaction to your column.

Sitting in a stationary position for excessive periods of time, such as when one spends too much time online, is known to significantly increase the risk of blood clots, strokes, and heart attacks. Tonight, in the interest of public health, we present a simple exercise routine that will get the blood flowing in your limbs and help obviate the risk of these serious health problems. So, grab yourself an inflatable ball, clear some space in front of your computer, and follow along at home. (h/t David Thompson)

Now is the Time When we Juxtapose
Almost barfed today listening to CKNW interview a woman from Toronto and a professor from Edmonton who have been successful in banishing food from school cafeterias. Canadian students are lining up by the 10’s for the top seller, bean curd, textured vegetable protein with a side of free range grass. Sales have collapsed but no worries, English and Science have been dropped from the curriculum. They found a slot between global warming 6.0 and the vital importance of of Jack’s beliefs 101 to indoctri…., er teach the little bolsheviks what they have eat to prepare them for their non-profit job.
School Lunches: New Nutrition Guidelines
“Our contractors have said that they’re anticipating huge revenue losses — some are anticipating as much as a 35 per cent [drop],” she says. “Pointing out that rural schools, where kids don’t have the option of nearby fast-food outlets, are generally much more profitable than urban ones.”
Want to Live Forever? Eat Chocolate
Eating more of it gives you one-third less risk of heart disease, and nearly a 30 percent decreased risk of stroke. By comparison, exercising regularly (rather than sitting on your butt all day, every day) only lowers your risk of heart disease by 45 percent.

Ontario’s ‘No Real Discussion’ Election
In just 39 days the voters of Ontario will decide whether to return Dalton McGuinty to power or to give Tim Hudak a chance at running things. Too bad there’ll be little of substance discussed with the voters. Don’t blame the politicians though, this is entirely the fault of the media for turning modern-day elections into shallow popularity contests where the only thing that matters are those “gotcha” moments.
The Cries of the Desperate
If you’re skeptical of AGW theory then, according to Al Gore, not only are you a “denier” (akin to Holocaust denier) but you’re also much like a racist:
One would think that some of the more intelligent environmentalists would much prefer if Gore just shut up. He truly is hurting “his side” … big time.
Update: Reportedly some aren’t able to watch the video. You can also see it here.
Update 2: Ezra Levant & Lorrie Goldstein discuss Gore’s assertion around 2 minutes into this video. And Charles Adler discusses it here.
Follow the Science
A common narrative of pundits & politicians on the Left is that they and their ilk respect science, whereas conservatives allegedly do not. This assertion has never made much sense to me but let’s put it to the test.
Lawrence Solomon reports on the latest findings of CERN in regard to global warming. Turns out that the sun and cosmic rays have a lot more effect on the Earth’s temperature than mankind does.
James Delingpole chimes in with his analysis too.
With such earth shattering new evidence coming to the fore, surely everyone on the Left who once claimed that mankind was mostly to blame for temperature changes, will now publicly admit they were wrong? Mr. Gore, Mr. Suzuki, as the men of science that you constantly tell us that you are, we look forward to these pronouncements this coming week.

Be Careful What You Wish For
The BC Teachers Federation (BCTF) has been dead set against keeping the HST in British Columbia. Not just a little, but a lot! That’s fine and it’s most certainly their privilege to advocate against it. Now that their wishes have been granted they, like the rest of the citizens in B.C., must accept the consequences.
With a whole lot less money now to be entering government coffers, the teachers union clearly must have understood that a whole lot less money would be available to pay out to their members.
Much like parents, a key role of teachers is to educate children that, along with privileges, comes responsibilities. Accepting the former but ignoring the latter would be highly unprofessional & hypocritical. But we’ve never seen any examples of that amongst Far Left Ideologues & Zealots, have we?!
To the members of the BCTF, let me quote directly from Jack Layton’s final letter to Canadians:
My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic.
We look forward to such positive sentiments from you all in the coming months & years. For we know that you each of you will share equally in the extra financial burdens that will be imposed on us all now that extra revenue from the HST is no longer available. Equality and Fairness, My Union Brothers & Sisters! Your mantra is now my mantra. Let’s all sing together now!

We’re not sure who’s paying for Pacelle’s tour—the book publisher or HSUS donors—but surely traveling to 100 cities is taking a toll on how effectively HSUS is run. It’s not like Pacelle is getting mobbed, at least judging by a couple of pictures of the event. And The Bond was immediately discounted 40 percent at Amazon and other e-tailers following its release.
In fact, HSUS’s original announcement was that Pacelle was only going on a 50-city book tour. At some point, the length doubled. So what’s the point? Is this really about promoting “the bond” between people and animals, or about Pacelle’s self-promotion?

The Future of Education?
Margaret Wente has a very interesting story about an American fellow named Salman Khan who has quickly become an educational maven. Here’s one of his videos, which I watched, that is absolutely excellent.
Bill Gates has given him some money to help him form The Khan Academy.
As more & more kids use his videos to actually learn something, watch for teachers unions across America and Canada to actively try to destroy him. 🙁
What’s Wrong With This Picture?
Call me a traditionalist, but doesn’t something seem just wrong with Christmas cards being sold in August?
