Let’s Strum A Tune At 787 Dundas St W To Remember Jack Layton

Grab a tissue.
h/t Marc, who writes; In Raffi’s defence, I suppose that “Letter to a Nation” is considerably more succinct than “Letter to a Barely Legal Asian Hooker of Questionable Immigration Status.”

  1. Too bad the CBC didn’t give the same level of respect for Rob Ford’s privacy as they gave Layton when he was getting the velvet touch.

  2. Bu here is the text of Lenin’s last letter:
    “Let us say frankly that the Peoples Commissariat of the Workers and Peasants Inspectorate does not at present enjoy the slightest authority. Everybody knows that no other institutions are worse organised than those of our Workers and Peasants Inspection, and that under present conditions nothing can be expected from this People’s Commissariat.”
    Oh wait, did you say Vladimir LAYTON?
    Still suitable material for Raffi these days.

  3. One commenter says it should be the “new national anthem”.
    Should knock ’em dead at hockey games.
    Will SOME Canadians ever get over the myth of Jack Layton?

  4. Maybe it can used used by the Occupy Squats as a theme song . . . Koombayah doesn’t seem quite proper for a bunch of atheists, especially stinky ones.

  5. “love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair”
    Nonsense.
    ECCLESIASTES Chapter 3
    1 To every thing there is a SEASON, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
    2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
    3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
    4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
    5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
    6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
    7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
    8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

  6. Hey Oz, we can’t have that, you write about, it does not have the proper socialist/fascist nuances.

  7. Playing an American made guitar? Teh horror! I’d trust him more if he was plyaing a Seagull or a Larrivee. Then again, maybe not.

  8. Puff the magic dragon,
    lived by the sea;
    and every time he went to vote,
    he made it NDP …

  9. The bottom line is this… Jack Layton’s legacy will be that of destroying the Federal Liberal Party and ensuring that the CPC becomes the Natural Governing Party of Canada until we can replace them with a Right-wing party. Had Jack not voted against the CPC in 2011, we’d not have a CPC majority today. It’s poetic that Jack Layton’s dad was of the Progressive Conservative Party. “Things that make you go hmmmm” Arseneo Hall

  10. Raffi makes me sick.
    My kids grew up to his music, we used to have all his records, we went to his concerts, we sang along and clapped rapturously.
    Who knew, then, that he was a deluded, green glasses wearing, Suzuki-enamored-AGW acolyte? (Raffi’s an Honourary Board Member of the Suzuki Foundation.)
    As per usual with the NDP and their moneyed hangers-on, they like to masquerade as champions of the downtrodden, while flying all over to make more money for themselves and their families, often owning more than one house and property. Seeing as air travel is one of the worst culprits when it comes to huge carbon footprints, I’ve stopped listening to these guys.
    I’ve not only stopped listening to them, I have the deepest of contempt for their “do as I say, not as I do” verbal salvos aimed at the rest of us and for their carbon-heavy lifestyles.
    Hey, Raffi, Suzuki, Gore: Your feets too big! So shut up!

  11. In a related story, Canadian adult movie company, T & EH Inc., has announced it will be releasing a XXX parody of Jack Layton’s shiatsu massage escapades, titled: 99% Happy Endings.
    (Full disclosure of provincial and federal tax credits available to this venture are yet to be released)

    E JackU Layton you never did know when to stop

  13. Raffi. Huh. The guy had one (1) hit, Banana Phone. Done pretty much nothing else I’ve heard of.
    We are going to be concerned because a guy who sings about bananas wants to sing about a third rate socialist hack politician? None of us are ever going to hear it anyway, so why worry?
    The self be-clownment of the Left continues, relax, enjoy!

  14. O.M.G.
    CTV just played a clip of Raffi singing this sickening song. Raffi’s lost it. So, who’s getting the money?
    Raffi? Olivia? Suzuki?
    Count me out.

  15. CTV just played a clip of Raffi singing this sickening song. Raffi’s lost it. So, who’s getting the money?
    Raffi? Olivia? Suzuki? Yoko ONO?
    sorry, i denounce myself

  16. Baby Beluga will never be the same again.
    Young Asian hands down Dundas Street
    They work so quick but not for free
    Heaven above and the Jack below
    And little nimble hands on the go
    Way down yonder where the leader plays,
    Where they arrive all night and day,
    Johns roll in and the Johns roll out.
    Is that water squirting out of your spout

  17. Raffi mostly plays the slobbering blues on the old skin flute these days. Harper should name a local popular whore house after Jack, and give us all tokens for a free handjob with Jack Layton’s name on them. “Good for one free handjob in memory of Jack Layton.” Just like they used too do in the old west.

  18. “from the overwhelming nature of climate change to the unfairness of an economy that excludes so many from our collective wealth”
    “We can do our part to save the world’s environment. We can restore our good name in the world”
    Laynin’s Last Lament

  19. What’s a bleeping Raffi? Isn’t he part of manufactured Canadian culture that while no bleeping good gets shamelessly promoted by the CBC/NFB manufactured culture people.
    I’m sure Mileski and “Barney” Fife knew that Jack was taking the big sleep but they didn’t mention it for fear of helping Harper.

  20. Scar – Layton must have known during the election that he was likely dying; still he ran as potential Prime Minister. It is a type of fraud.
