He Carried Yellow Flowers

There was a time in America when a man was a man, a horse was a horse, and a man on a horse was just a man on a horse…

(You’ll probably like this, too.)

  1. I liked both of these a lot: authentic and very funny—and altogether off the beaten path, just what we need these days, as the political “beaten path” has become the proverbial “road to hell, paved with good intentions”.
A man who can laugh at himself—as these clips seem to show about Herman Cain—is most refreshing.

  2. Cain is – currently – the best of a mediocre lot. Everyone knows Romney is a RINO. He’ll stay around 20-30% of republican voters. Perry has also shown himself to have too many liberal views.
Tea Party is a large minority among all voters; they’re the majority among Republican voters. And they know if Romney wins next November, not much is going to change.

  3. Love the creepy smile and the horrible song at the end of the ad. It’s so bad it’s good.

  4. Gotta agree with Rita: shorter and tighter. OTOH, these ads are certainly unusual, and Rita and I might both be wrong. But I don’t think so.
And I wish Mr. Cain all the best. ALL the best!

  5. Dave in Missisauga,
What liberal views for Perry are you talking about?
I’m going to guess that all you have is in-state tuition for illegals and maybe Gardisil.
But in-state tuition for illegal aliens was nearly unanimously approved by the Texas legislature, which is majority Republican. Also, it can’t be said to represent a “view” in favor of amnesty, because Perry has been vocal against amnesty and has sent Texas troopers to the border to help secure it.
If you are talking about Gardisil, that never went into effect, and Perry has said he was wrong to do it, so that’s also not a “view.”. Even so, it contained an opt-out which only required a parent to sign a form opting out.
Where as Cain is very dishy-washy as to what he will do about life and other social issues, saying that “abortion should not be a political discussion.” even after “clarifying” his views on abortion.
Also, there is nothing conservative about new tax revenue streams and subsidizing corrupt, anti-business local and state policies through empowerment zones, which are part of the 9-9-9 plan.
So please add some meat to your accusation, if you have any.

  6. If Dr Paul isn’t the next president then America is done.
I notice no one wants to talk about Mr Cains job with the federal reserve, why?

  7. Cain has to lose that “creepy smile”. To some people, smiling on command doesn’t come naturally, and when they’re forced to “smile for the camera”,they look strained, phony,or creepy.
Jack Layton,a total phony ,smiled all the time,so we never knew of it was natural or not, just part of Jack’s made-for-the-camera persona.
Cain doesn’t HAVE to perform like a circus clown for the media, just be himself, and if he doesn’t feel like showing the pearly whites, damned well shouldn’t.
Look what a phony smile did for Michael Ignatieff.
Unfortunately, many voters go by image, rather than substance,if they didn’t,Obama would never have got as far as Dogcatcher in Chicago.
