  1. I have all the admiration in the world for any politician, like Ford or Harper, that is conservative as the attacks are unceasing. When you read the comments from the myriads of leftists that post on these threads in the Grope and Flail or the NP it just gets so tiresome trying to respond to any of them as we all know its pointless as they just repeat the same ad hominems, slurs, or lies over again.
Ford has a temper and it just gives more ammunition to the left when he reacts angrily. Consider this is the mayor of Canada’s largest city yet the police that supposedly report to him take 10.5 minutes to respond to a 911 call.

  2. So let me see if I’ve got this straight…
The CBC fabricates almost out of thin air a racy, defamatory quote against Mayor Ford…
But Sun News is a biased news network.
    Have I got that right?

  3. Dear federal Conservative politicians,
    Please de-fund the CBC.
    You have a majority.
By funding the CBC all you are doing to Conservatives at all politicial levels is stealing votes from them at the ballot boxes.
The little old blue haired ladies listen to the CBC crap and they also make a point of voting.
Grow a pair and stand up in the House and proclaim that the savings from the budget line that was the CBC are going into health care.
How can the opposition argue with that?

  4. Okay, so here is the email I just sent to James Moore:
    Dear Mr. Moore,
At the behest of the extremely pleasant young woman on your staff with whom I just finished speaking on the phone, I am writing you this note to express my dismay at the CBC for their behaviour surrounding the recent fiasco of Mary Walsh accosting Toronto Mayor Rob Ford at his private redidence, and my dismay at my treatment by CBC Audience Relations when I phoned them to complain about the same.
I first called the CBC Ombudsman’s office, and was informed that this matter was not theirs to deal with as they only dealt with CBC news. They were very helpful in directing me to CBC Audience relations. When I called them, and expressed my concerns, almost the first question I was asked was “Are you a member of Rob Ford’s staff?”. I was somewhat taken aback by this, and replied that I am a Lutheran Pastor in Edmonton Alberta, and have never met the man. I went on to say that I thought that This Hour Has 22 Minutes had stepped over the line in accosting Mr. Ford at his private residence, and at refusing to leave his property when they were asked. She answered “Well, they were on his driveway, which is probably city property.” An interesting notion, but hardly accurate. I then pointed out that CBC news also erroneously reported that Mr. Ford said “You … bitches! Don’t you f–king know? I’m Rob f–king Ford, the mayor of this city!” (as reported by the Toronto Sun: http://www.torontosun.com/2011/10/27/mayor-ford-blasted-911-after-cbc-ambush ) . She denied this, and was adamant that Mr. Ford had spoken just as the CBC had reported.
As an aside, herein lies a big part of the problem with the CBC, and why some taken to calling CBC News “CBC Pravada”. One is left with the disquieting sense here of a circling of the wagons by the mothercorp in protection of one of their own.
In any case, I was by this time thoroughly gobsmacked with what I was hearing, and with the attitude I was receiving. I went on to say that the folks at This Hour Has 22 Minutes ought to be ashamed for frightening a 6 year old girl. The woman from Audience relations then said that there was no little girl there. I said “Are you saying that Rob Ford is lying?” She said “No, I am not saying that.” Then I said “So then his daughter was there?” She replied “No, I am not saying that either. Did you see that segment of the show?” I replied that I had. She said “Did you see a little girl on the segment?” I said “No, I did not. But all that proves is that you have no video of her, and we then have to contend with Rob Ford’s word on the matter. And if you don’t believe him, then that means that you think he is lying. Either she was there, or he is lying. You can’t have it both ways.” She then replied “Well then, it is my word against his.” To which I replied “Your word has nothing to do with it unless you were there.
Then she hung up on me.
This had been a most unpleasant experience. CBC really needs to get better, and less defensive people in their Audience relations department. And This Hour Has 22 Minutes owes Rob Ford and his daughter an apology. I realize that the operates at CBC is at arm’s length from government (or at least from Conservative government) and that you may not be able to do much about this. But I thought you should at least be made aware. Complaining to the mothercorp does not seem to get one anywhere, unless of course one is complaining about Don Cherry.
Thanking you for your consideration of this letter …

  5. I don’t know about de-funding the CBC… sometimes I wonder which ideological side the CBC helps the most.

  6. I listened to Jian Ghomeshi spew the cbc bs on his show last night. His bottom line ( the first thing a politician has to learn is to get along with the satirists ) I laughed at that lie.
Obviously the first thing is to get along with the CBC. $$$$$$$$$$

  7. It’s quite remarkable that Stephen Harper looks like someone who is approachable and has a sense of humour when compared with Robbie Ford.

  8. I’ve never cared for humor that sets someone up as a figure of fun to be ridiculed. We are all so concerned about bullying these days. To me, this is a type of bullying. It involves a public figure, who, apparently, is fair game to anyone trying to score a few laughs–but it’s still a type of assault. How else do you describe setting someone up to be humiliated and trying to force him to go along as if it’s just good fun? It would have been better if Ford had not overreacted. There would have been ways to handle it which would have worked out better for him. But I defy anyone to be that nimble in their thinking early in the morning when you’ve got dozens of things on your mind and you’re accosted by some virago from hell.

  9. It would make no difference how Mr. Ford reacted.
The CBC would belittle and embarrass him regardless of what had happened. Make a “faux” news story out of it…just like they are doing…and have done so many times in the past to others.

  10. I’d love to see the headlines if fat ol’ Rob Ford had laid the beeatch out on the driveway with a shot to the jaw. That’d be choice.
And by the way: If I was the mayor of the City of Toronto, and I called the cops with an emergency, and the cops weren’t there in two freaking minutes, being sworn at would the least of the 911 department’s problems.
I think perhaps Ford has found a department that needs its budget cut.

  11. I agree Phantom. This bloated department with over 5,000 officers and 2,600 civilian staff with over half now earning of $100k needs major trimming. Paid duty officers get $67 an hour to stand around looking at city construction.
If the mayor has to phone 911 3 times to get assistance heads should roll. The person who released the 911 tape should be kicked out the door.
Of course the cops are a public union and not a friend of Ford’s. I still remember the cops at the drop off centre during the last garbage strike and ignoring their brothers in the garbage union beating up on citizens dropping their garbage off.

  12. Mayor Ford was hung out to dry by the CBC and the cops.
As a citizen of Toronto, I’m not feeling encouraged or inspired. In this stunt, the CBC and “Toronto’s Finest” are a bunch of dicks.

  13. Don’t get me wrong, Ford is exactly what what over-taxed Toronto needs, but he looks silly on this.
I can’t stand Walsh and her subsidized crew, bt seriously,if any of us walked out of our house in the morning and saw Ms. Turd standing there, would we have:
    (a) retreated into our house
    (b) called the cops
Don’t think so. We would have:
    (a) ignored her, or
    (b) ordered her off the property, and,
    (c) kicked her fat arse off if she didn’t leave
Ford’s starting to look, smell and sound like a typical Trawna Conservative.

  14. What a great culture we are forced to pay 1.2 billion for.
The CBC’s utopia is too incendiary for me, and for us. Dissolve the hate train.

  15. I know expecting anything resembling a balanced response from the SDA crew would be expecting too much, but come on guys.
    A few things…
You think a reasonable response is to punch her? Honestly?
Or that Ford repeatedly calling 911 to report a 60+ year old woman in a Viking costume with a camera crew warrants an emergency?
And that because the cops of a major city didn’t make this a top priority, their budget should be slashed. And further, you dispute whether or not cops, those dudes who put their lives on the line, deserve $100k per year to live in what is basically one of the most expensive cities in the country.
The retardation that is found here is astounding.
At least agree with this… Ford should release the tape. It’s within his power. If you are so confident that CBC is in the wrong, why not call for the one thing that could clear it up.
And hey, even if it shows Ford lied, you can still deny it, just like you deny all the other things that have been proven such as evolution, climate change, and this totally nutty theory the the Earth is round.

  16. I guess if Ford wants some privacy he will have to tell the CBC he is a war criminal.
The CBC won’t run the pictures of the war criminals because they respect their privacy and aren’t sure if they did anything though there are warrants issued for them and they have been through the system, but they have no problem smearing Rob Ford.

My understanding is that RF has received death threats, and that the police told him to call 911 if any incident developed.
As well, the police are always telling citizens that they should not defend themselves or use any force when confronted by a potential threat and only to call police to arrive some minutes/hours later to deal with the situation.

  18. Diana Swain and Esther Enkin in conversation about the ethics of ambushing a Toronto politician:
    http://www.cbc.ca/video/#/Shows/The_National/1242568525/ID=2161263519
Esther Enkin makes no sense at all. She’s trying to defend Walsh’s ambush of Rob Ford by gratuitously telling the viewing public that there’s “a difference” between shows like This Hour Has 22 Minutes and the news.
    DUH.
Enkin: “The point of this story is to call someone to account.”
    HUH?
What utter crap. And we pay this moron a hefty salary to contemplate her navel and to talk around the real issue, which is the ethics of ambushing Mayor Rob Ford at his home? What about her accountability and that of the CBC?
    DEFUND. THE. CBC.

  19. Guys, you seem to be missing the point that this is what this comedian does, and she does it to everybody equally.
You guys just have the “oh, pooooooor us! everybody is out to get conservatives” whiner syndrome, that is so fashionable these days.
Cripes, even Harper, the most humourless looking man manages to be on these shows in a way that is funny and engaging.
Ford can’t because he’s a stupid little pimple.

  20. Why would Ford ever watch CBC? I rarely do. It is entirely possible that he had no clue who Walsh was. I wish I didn’t. I can only recall her routine once, maybe twice many years ago.

  21. Rob Ford’s response is understandable, considering where the early morning ambush occurred and what has been lobbed at him so far.
“In the one-page, unsigned letter sent to the mayor, Ford’s life, along with those of his wife and children, are repeatedly threatened.
‘Glad to know you’re open to having anyone visit your home,’ the writer states. ‘Where we come from in our native land we hunt scumbags like you down and feed them to the animals … but your fat would probably kill them.
We think that wouldn’t be enough so instead we might take your littlest one and then your wife. That might help you understand what hardship you’re inflicting upon many citizens of a city that’s being put under undeserved stress aside from hard-working employees being tormented with injustice.”

  22. If Ford can’t tell the difference between a crazy sending a death threat, and a camera crew, he has no business being mayor of the country’s largest city. Most murderers don’t bring a freaking video camera along on the job.
Do I like Walsh? No. Do I like 22 minutes? No.
But a lot of people do, and they consider it good satire.
Now, I know that most rightwingers have difficulty with the concept of satire, as it takes at least average intelligence to understand what’s going on, so I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that it’s beyond guys like Ford and the SDA mental ward.
Again, Walsh does this to everybody. She wasn’t just picking on Ford.
But while we’re talking about Ford… how’s about he release the tape so we can hear for ourselves whether CBC’s sources are making sh!t up, or Ford is.
    What are you afraid of?

  23. I still gotta ask, where is the security protocol for the mayor of the nation’s largest city?
To stop the extreme nay sayers on here, no you don’t need 24hr surveillance, but you should have at least some TO cop patrol drive by every hour if not more, as well for sure have one in the vicinity every time Mr. Ford gets out of the house in the morning.
Even just for optics, have a bike cop ride by would help.
What am I hearing, 10 mins before they showed up? I find that hard to believe as well, but then again if something does happen to Mr. Ford (read Mussie wackjob) the TO police have blood on their hands.

  24. John, Walsh’s version of humour is lacking, but correctly, satire is picking on someone’s weakness.
Not sure why you try to pass as someone with average intelligence with “know that most rightwingers have difficulty with the concept of satire” reeks of smug air headed left thinking and not someone with a balanced view on life.
You were doing well with asking a point till you made that foolish statement, akin to shooting your foot.
Me thinks you are afraid of something actually…

  25. Now, I know that most leftwingers have difficulty with the concepts of private property and personal space because they love spreading the wealth and telling the rest of us how to live, and as it takes at least average intelligence to understand what’s going on, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that the fact that most Canadians think it isn’t satire for an ugly and unfunny lady to invade Ford’s home is beyond guys like John and the CBC mental ward.
Who watches CBC, anyway? There’s nothing more boring than propaganda.

  26. johnbrooks,
Not afraid, frustrated. I have no idea why i come back here to waste my time pointing out what should be obvious, hence eventually referring to a lack of intelligence on the part of the rightwing.
In this case, I’m specifically referring to the mindbending acrobatics that are taking place here to avoid seeing what’s going on with this case.
Ford, like many politicians, was put on the spot by a comedian, and not only failed to engage in any way even remotely witty, he panicked, called the cops, and freaked out because his call about a camera crew with a 60 year old female viking wasn’t prioritized. Now it appears that he’s been caught in some lies. (too dark, scared kid, “attacked”), and this is not the first time where his integrity has been called into question.
So yeah. I question the intelligence of the gang here. And pawleez don’t suddenly act shocked that I would stoop sooooo low as to basically call the SDA gang stupid. This is just such a sadly hypocritical ploy that totally ignores the constant stream of abuse directed at anyone who isn’t far right.
You guys want respect, then elevate the dialogue… and stop being so stupid. (see what i did there? that’s funny sh!t)

  27. We all realize Ford behaved less than stellar here. But we have far more sympathy for him because of the nasty bullies who caused his flustered flubbing than we do with say, Trudeau biking around Montreal Jewish neighbourhoods while wearing Nazi gear during WWII, or Layton visiting an underage, exploited illegal immigrant for a “massage”. There is something creepy and nasty in those politicians’ characters that we have not observed in Ford’s.

  28. “There is something creepy and nasty in those politicians’ characters that we have not observed in Ford’s.”
But the difference here is that those things are largely hearsay, Most of those things about Trudeau were said after his death (great because he can’t defend/explain himself), and Layton was never charged with anything during that visit to the rub n’ tug. Does that mean they were innocent? I dunno.
    But let’s look at Ford.
I mean hey, who hasn’t been arrested for DUI/drug charge, or thrown out of a Leafs game for being a freakazoid? Or arrested again for assault and uttering death threats against one’s spouse?
    http://www.thestar.com/News/GTA/article/356840
And who, when confronted by the mean ol’ leftwing media on these issues hasn’t attempted to lie and cover them up? And now this witless little incident where he, Mr. Let’s cut back on city services, panics when the cops don’t rush to his home after 3 calls to 911 over a camera crew in his driveway.
That’s the issue with Ford. He not only displays poor judgement on a variety of issues, he regularly displays a very poor character that is totally befitting of a mayor. They’d be better off if they’d elected Ricky from Trailer Park Boys.

  29. John, with one exception (Jess; remember Jess?) you are the nastiest, ugliest troll to post on SDA. You are vicious, stupid, incoherent and abusive; you are also whiny and self-pitying. You make Alex look like William Buckley. Bugger off.
Ford should insist that the 911 tape or tapes be made public.

  30. Had Marg and her crew done their homework so that they knew he would be leaving at that time of morning with his daughter?
If so, it was a non-satirical ambush. Even you must recognize that John.
Ambushing him at his office would have been more appropriate. (If one is into the whole tacky warrior princess routine of Walsh.)
But the shoe doesn’t fit on the other foot well, does it? Look at how they appreciated Ezra Levant’s visit to their corporate office and how amused and receptive the security staff were. And how well hidden the bosses remained. No humourous repartee there, but John will recognize the irony I’m sure.

  31. Gellen, good point.
Throwing my 2 cents in again, nice to be Canadian eh, in that the mayor of Canada’s largest city can leave his own house in a minivan.
I keep stressing ‘largest city’ because there is a benchmark of reasoning behind this versus say the mayor of Moosebreath, Sask.
I do hope the Islamic freaks don’t pick up on the vulnerability of Mr. Ford. I am also disappointed in the Toronto Police for not have some routine in meeting him BEFORE he leaves his house.
However, the CBC, well, they are exposing who they are, scum. Time to pull the plug on that outfit.

  32. “John, with one exception (Jess; remember Jess?) you are the nastiest, ugliest troll to post on SDA.”
You are quite possibly the stupidest person I have ever met. I don’t agree with John in his assessment of Ford, but he’s provided a reasoned, detailed argument, and supplied links to back them up. In return he gets insulted by you and the rest of the peanut gallery. And that makes him a “nasty, ugly troll”?
I’m serious. You don’t have the brains of a gnat. You’re a pathetic excuse for a human being. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that, judging by the moronic babble, the complete inability to make a coherent point, and the constant use of the word “troll” to respond to anything you don’t understand, you’re probably a Phantom sock-puppet. Go away. The average IQ would rise by 20 points if you left these forums.

  33. Alex, as far as I know we’ve never “met”, thankfully. I was thinking about John-boy’s comment at 3:03, and any number of others he’s made.
But don’t be jealous, Al; I think you’re a nasty little piece of work too, although, I admit, I do find it slightly touching that you apparently really don’t regard yourself as a troll.

  34. John = trollex? Mebbe so.
But WTH, let’s roll with it anyway.
john said: “In this case, I’m specifically referring to the mindbending acrobatics that are taking place here to avoid seeing what’s going on with this case.”
What’s going on with this case is:
    -trespassing.
-borderline assault, cornering Ford half in and half out of his car. Also she put her hands on him, even though she didn’t actually -strike- him.
-ambush journalism of the very worst possible kind, to the point of deliberate menacing.
-massive fail by Toronto police to provide security for the mayor.
Way up at 8:46 pm John said: “You think a reasonable response is to punch her? Honestly?”
Crazy woman with a sword runs up my driveway at me first thing in the morning yelling “We got you, we got you!” Oh yeah. At least. I’ve punched younger, bigger people for less.
See, you don’t know who she is, how old she is, what her freakout is, what that sword is, who the clown with the camera is, who else is in that SUV and with what weapons… all you know is what your brain can gather in the time it takes her to run ten feet. That’s under a second.
Her behavior was dangerous and stupid. She’s lucky he didn’t give her an elbow in the head.
That’s called “reasoning” John. Its what you do to figure out if some action or statement is “reasonable”.
John’s other idiot question is: “Or that Ford repeatedly calling 911 to report a 60+ year old woman in a Viking costume with a camera crew warrants an emergency?”
The -mayor- of Toronto called in an -emergency-. Three times apparently. The cops can’t possibly know the situation. Ford could have been surrounded by Al Qaeda for all they know. Their performance is a dangerous failure here.
Performance like that is why we SDA types say “call 911 and die”. Because if 911 is all you’ve got to defend yourself, you are going to die with the phone in your hand.
Sorry if that upsets your happy-slappy worldview John. Hopefully you’ll grow a brain before your assumptions bite off half your @ss some day.

  35. Mamba, Phantom: any attempt at presenting a cogent dignified concept to Alex or Latrine…er..Crapper..er, oh yeah..John..that’s it! is completely lost on them!
Retarded trolls!- perfect example of the systemic rot of the leftard doltdom.

  36. Ohh, you’re so sneaky BM! This time you waited a whole half hour before posting with your other nickname! We’ll NEVER figure that one out!
    Get a life, troll.

  37. Kind of ashamed to admit this, but RF reacted just like a silly little lefty.
    What a wee-wee.
