Liberals, who’ve been on the receiving end of the ploy twice in the past three months, call the tactic entrapment, unethical and “Nixonian.” And they worry it could lead to the end of candour in federal politics, with wary politicians reduced to mouthing platitudes and reciting carefully scripted talking points.
In my mind, that should read, “…they worry it could lead to candour in federal politics…”
After all, it’s not like recording MP’s is a new strategy for their opposition.

The United States expressed concern on Thursday that Syria’s government might be harboring undeclared chemical weapons, hidden from the internationally led operation to purge them over the past year, and that Islamist militant extremists now ensconced in that country could possibly seize control of them.
I’m pretty sure the NY Times was all agog about Obama’s diplomatic coup in Syria at one point. It takes a special kind of stupid to be a cheerleader of someone the rest of the world was laughing at.
Oh, wait, here’s one.
President Obama deserves credit for putting a focus on upholding an international ban on chemical weapons and for setting aside military action at this time in favor of a diplomatic deal. The Syria crisis should demonstrate to Iran’s new president, Hassan Rouhani, that Mr. Obama, who has held out the possibility of military action against Iran’s nuclear program, is serious about a negotiated solution. Mr. Obama’s disclosure that he had indirectly exchanged messages with Mr. Rouhani was encouraging.

I don’t know how long it will take “corporation hating” Americans to realize that those same corporations who they love to loathe and blame their laziness and lack of work ethic…err “problems” on are also the primary source of:
1. Jobs
2. Careers
3. Economic innovation and growth
and
4. Their retirement wealth
in this country. And the fact they have made it so inhospitable financially, politically and socially to be a corporation here that corporations would rather
1. Spend money repurchasing their shares
2. Spend money buying other companies’ shares
3. Open factories overseas
4. Bribe/lobby politicians
5. Pull a Medtronic or Burger King
than hire and invest in the US should be a wake up call to all the Obama-supporting college graduates working as barristas for $9/hour.

A funny thing happened over the weekend: While President Obama took heat for saying he didn’t have a strategy to deal with the Islamic State (also known as ISIS and isil) in Syria, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) delivered a pretty remarkable statement (for a potential Presidential Candidate).
“If I were president, I would call a joint session of Congress,” Paul told the AP. “I would lay out the reasoning of why ISIS is a threat to our national security and seek congressional authorization to destroy ISIS militarily.”

Yesterday National Grid also contacted the owners of recently closed power plants to enquire as to whether they could be brought back online within the next few weeks. This is an option that has never before been used in Britain, and has been predicted to cost tens of millions as the owners would be paid all costs involved in getting the stations up and running, plus an above market rate price for electricity generated. They would be required to produce energy between 6am and 8pm between November and February.

Where Andrew Leslie is wrong.
I actually agree with much of what General Andrew Leslie, CF Ret. says about the latest Israel/Hamas conflict.
I do disagree with this part though.
Up until the moment the Israeli ground forces launch their invasion there had been three fatalities after 2,700 rockets have been fired at Israel, because they have a system to knock them down. So, tunnels [in Gaza] were not an issue at the time. They go in, they obviously get involved in the street fighting.
I think it’s quite obvious that Israel knew about the tunnels. I think Hamas kidnapping and murdering three Israeli teens was the spark.
As Gen. Leslie states, Israel had been rained on with missiles and did nothing, but as soon as the tunnels were used for terror against Israeli citizens, that’s when the fighting started.
Contrary to the General’s assumption that the missiles were Israels strategic objective, I think it is safe to say it was destruction of the tunnels. Once they were gone, Israel disengaged.
On the General’s point regarding ME backlash against Israel…The Saudi King, the Palestinian Authority and Eygpt beg to differ.
It’s Probably Nothing

“Ebola treatment centers are reduced to places where people go to die alone, where little more than palliative care is offered,” she said, calling on international community to fund more beds for a regional network of field hospitals. She also urged countries with biological disaster response capacity to dispatch trained medical personnel to the hardest-hit areas.
