One down….

The Q is host-less.

Please, don’t bother with prognostications of a slanderous nature in the comments. I really don’t like being sued and I can’t keep deleting your comments all day.

  1. Good effing riddance. They’ll probably find someone worse to replace him but its hard to imagine how they could do that.

  2. Won’t miss him one little bit. I hope that he does not return to host a hockey program like that other CBC dorkmiester did, Strobosuffleopagus or whatever hi friggin name is. He sucks as even worse as a hockey personality…

  3. If he has personal problems then he has my sympathy. However, along with Strombo, he is a hopeless green weenie and MAJOR anti CPC. I wish him no harm, but good riddance.
Interesting. You see this Tweet (Or Twat or whatever it is called)? Jesse Brown writes:
What I have learned about @jianghomeshi after months of investigation will be reported responsibly as soon as possible. Patience please.

  4. When I was stuck on my backhoe with only CBC(thank you Sirius sat radio) I’d listen to him and believe it or not, while he p@ssed me off often for being a prog, I didn’t mind him THAT much and often enjoyed his guests. So due to SiriusXM(praise de lawd) I didn’t even hear about any panty wringing going on at Mothercorp. So what’s up?

  5. I didn’t mind him too much either.
I just heard that he may be suing the CBC. See, he is not that bad.
My guess for a replacement is Kay from the National Post.

  6. Hadn’t heard of Ghomeshi until today. Whenever I hear an unpronounceable name coupled with CBC, I calculate the odds of the person being an affirmative action hire and move on.

  7. Who TF is Jian Ghomeshi??
Better that I don’t know. I’d just be ticked off with CBC spending millions to serve an audience of 12. If Harper wins the next election and doesn’t kill, draw, and quarter CBC, I will look at and promote other options. CBC should have been gone 4 years ago.

  8. Yet another CBC “celebrity” that I’ve never heard of. Sounds like I haven’t missed much.

  9. Nothing personal but I hope he doesn’t win the lawsuit against the CBC. If they have to cough up $50million, I know where they will get it, and it won’t be from the CBC pension fund or from cutting back on expenses.

  10. Somehow I get the feeling the truth is rather scandalous. What could a little brown person (as he refers to himself) get up to that would be unpleasant even for the CBC?

  11. Gee-yawn would have to demonstrate that the CBC has damaged him, and that the damages amount to $50 million…unlikely.

  12. “…Who TF is Jian Ghomeshi??…”
Scar, you bugger….you beat me too it again!
I watched the hockey last night on CBC, and when the intermissions came up, I flipped the channel for 15 when Mrs. Snuffleupagus’ little boy did his puppet show.

  13. gordinkneehill “Yet another CBC “celebrity” that I’ve never heard of. Sounds like I haven’t missed much.”
And I bet you’ve been waiting for years to actually see a star on Dancing With the Stars.

  14. If you follow the link in northernont’s comment you get told a story about a young woman’s encounter with a man who turns out to be a jerk. And then comments seem to come from other young women that they experienced similar behaviour from him. Nothing illegal, just a jerk (- worse things have happened to people more undeserving of them than that young woman seems to be.)
If such a fellow were in in the public eye in the course of his work, e.g. in entertainment, his employer might take against him because of it. But it’s a story posted on the internet that doesn’t name him and there is no proof it is true. If something is true, it will probably get published eventually, with evidence.

  15. Used to listen to his show more, but with more listening choices have only tuned his way about once a year.
I generally enjoyed him and his guests. He didn’t broadcast an outsize ego like Mansbridge or Enright. Nor would he suck up to guests.
Jian (born into an Iranian family in London) was a big part of Moxy Früvous. Perhaps not a big band, but better than anything I or Warren Kinsella will ever come up with.
Unless something egregious turns up, I wish Jian well and if his getting $50 million bankrupts the CBC he’ll be my hero forever.

  16. An interesting read pointed out above (blindgossip) about a “Keith” who gave one gal a creepy date the she didn’t soon forget. Maybe a sign of things to come about why something happened to “Keith” now.

  17. Perhaps the tide is turning at ‘Mothercorp’ if so the maybe “wee davey” is next. I rather doubt it though, more likely it is something along the lines of what happened within the real “Mother Corp”, the BBC.

  18. @ thetooner I agree that the story itself, while point to this “Keith” being a loser and a jerk, doesn’t seem to qualify as something you would get fired over. That said, that instance seemed to occur around 2012 and it’s possible it’s just a hint at what may have been the real cause of what happened to “Keith’s” employment.

  19. Perhaps it was discovered he wasn’t homosexual or liberal … no I can’t believe that … he was at the CBC after all.

  20. “[A] little brown person (as he refers to himself)…”
    Nice try, no cigar, Jian.
Iranians aren’t just “Aryans”, they’re the originals!
About 50 percent of the bad relationship between Arabs and Iranians is religious is in nature (Sunni/Shia). The other 50 percent is good old-fashioned race hate.

  21. Only heard him at the dentist’s office.
But, with two soldiers killed this week and Ezra collecting money for their families, how is this minor CBC celebrity worth 50M?

  22. We should thank Mr. Gomeshi, his lawsuit should encourage the government to defund the CBC, and let it pay its own bills, not me the taxpayer. His show was not to my liking, I am more of a saturday morning, all day sunday cbc listener. I listen because I need to know what the enemy is thinking.

  23. Heard about this on the car radio (NOT CBC), turned to my wife and remarked, WHO?
Never heard of him; don’t care. But like a previous post expressed, it rankles that the CBC gets $1 billion + annually for this – and other crap.

  24. Must confess I only watched one episode of his program. Truth be told, I sought out that episode on YouTube. It was an interview with Ayaan Hirsi Ali. I found it interesting to watch the seeming sanctimonious Ghomeshi interview a superior mind. The juicy bit is in the middle when he finds out that she, a former muslim, now and atheist, recommends Christianity to those women who want to leave Islam but have a religion. His reaction is priceless – almost unhinged.

  25. I’ll have to watch that episode, should be entertaining.
Liked his program at one time, when he seemed to conduct himself with some professionalism & less outright “progressive” bias. He lost that it the last couple of years, became an outspoken lover of all things Idle No More, Neil Young and his anti-oilsands nonsense, Occupy, etc.; he’s shown definite signs of Harper Derangement Syndrome.

  26. Saw a picture of him on CBC website. My first thought is that he needs a shave and a haircut followed by a hot shower. Never heard of him before today and hopefully will never hear of him in the future.

  27. Geez Jian, as a good progressive you must be aware that women NEVER lie about sexual violence. It just doesn’t happen and it is VERY misogynist of you to even hit that you are not guilty.

  28. It’s funny seeing the left now attacking the CBC, truly delicious.
I’m thinking there is much more to come out, considering he felt it necessary to admit to BDSM etc. I’m guessing his lawyers are trying to get out in front of coming serious allegations. Won’t be surprised if more women come out with their own stories. If that happens, he’ll be shamed into oblivion and the lawsuit will fade away.
Either way, it will cost the CBC, mean more financial stress and more cuts. All good as long as taxpayers are reducing our BS subsidy.

  29. Gee-yawn is within his rights to do with another consenting adult whatever the hell he wants, and on this, I think he’s being treated unfairly by the CBC. Not $50 million unfair, because Gee-yawn would never have earned that much; but reputational loss might indeed be an issue IMHnon-lawyerO. But it’s typical of the CBC, like all leftist organizations, to throw one of their own under the bus asap when it suits them. Gee-yawn comes off like a flakey drama queen most of the time, including in his Facebook missive, but he – so far – seems to be a wronged party here.
