Life’s too short:
When officials in the tiny Town of Stettin in Marathon County went to collect a civil judgment from 75-year-old Roger Hoeppner this month, they sent 24 armed officers.
And an armored military vehicle.
Better safe than in tears:
Marathon County sheriff’s officials aren’t apologizing for their tactics. Sheriff’s Capt. Greg Bean said while Hoeppner was never considered dangerous, he was known to be argumentative.

I guess the bureaucracy now considers everyone to be as dangerous as someone on a jihad.
Day-am! You stole the item I was going to post to tips.
Pretty open aggression – open display of excessive force and abusive process eh? Well get used to it, this is the festered underbelly of statist socialism and we are in stage 2 – the armed theft stage – before the gulag stage – ultimately when all the wealth has been vacuumed out of the middle class, socialism always leads to the gulag.
2 words to explain the cops behavior, COWARDS & BULLIES! but then again that is repeating myself.
Ve haf vays of making you… Vell…. Do anything.
They’re like little boys playing real-life GI Joes with big Tonka Toys.
Embarrassing dickheads.
What a beautiful day for a farm auction, folks.
Big crowd, hopefully some serious bidders among them.
Hello sheriff.
There are some people you just can’t trust in any kind of position of authority. They always seem to end up running podunk town police departments.
Object lesson: you give a bureaucrat a tank and a SWAT team, he will find a way to use it. Or make one.
Stop pussy-footing around. Next time bring nukes.
No need for the SWAT Team, I’ll come out peacefully, sheriff, if you bring that new tank thing they gave you and take me for a ride in it.
“…socialism always leads to the gulag.”
Exactly, and it does not matter if it is the communist or the fascist form of socialism.
This is becoming more common and quite frankly scary. A court order seizing his bank accounts would have been more cost effective. This was about power projection and control by self serving bureaucrats. If nothing is done to curb the size and scope of government, when the next “Great Depression” hits and it will, these bureaucrats which include the police, will stop at nothing to ensure the quality of their lifestyle is maintained.
The most egregious wrong here is not the excessive use of force (although that is a very serious problem), it was the attack on a productive business simply because it violated some petty ordinance. This guy was apparently trying to make an honest living, and was providing value to the world with his efforts when he gets slammed because someone objected to the view.
If merely being “argumentative” rates an armoured vehicle and 24 officers then what would they have brought if they considered the old guy dangerous, a squadron of M-1 Main Battle Tanks, attack helicopters and the marines. America is becoming a military state in which citizens can trust no one in authority.
When they kick in your front door
How you gonna go?
“He also repaired wooden pallets and this is what appears to have gotten under the skin of the town council.”
Green, environmentally sound. Oh, you can only do that with a government program and subsidy.
$500 dollars a day?
What kind of milage do you get with a tank anyway?
I hope that judge is elected.
“Argumentative”
Tanks
and
No Tanks
“It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is. If the–if he–if ‘is’ means is and never has been, that is not–that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement….Now, if/ BOOOOOOOM

You nailed it, Bud!
Go after the little guy. The guy whose taxes pay your salary. The guy who traditionally supports sensible law and order. Intimidate him, fine him, threaten his livelihood, humiliate him, piss him off…and then wonder why you get laid off and no one gives a shit.
Too thick, selfish, and uncaring to get it.
Note that OPP Union supported Ontario Liberals in last election. Means they have a vested interest in supporting goals of the Politicians in Power over those of the people. Coming to a place near you!
In Alberta, someone I know got arrested for civil contempt for failing to reply to a lawsuit. He got stopped for speeding and got arrested. I am not sure why the court hadn’t just ordered a default judgement but when he didn’t show the plaintiff’s lawyer ask the judge for an arrest warrant and it was served. Police should only get involved in civil offenses when things go bad. They shouldn’t be bill collectors.
Let us all join the movement to require all law enforcement to paint their armored and ex military “rescue” tanks and armored cars in the same colors and with the same identification as they do all other law enforcement vehicles in their jurisdiction. They should also be forbidden from wearing camo and black clothing on duty. If they say they need that MRAP for winter time rescue, let the lying bas..rds paint it red or yellow like their fire department rescue vehicles. They should be dressed like the rest of the officers in the jurisdiction. POLICE OFFICERS DON’T NEED CAMO OR MILITARY STYLE ARMOR IN ANY JURISDICTION. The only reason is to get around the posse comitatus, along with the fact they are generally cowards and thieves.
If you go here
http://www.co.marathon.wi.us/Departments/Sheriff.aspx
and click on 2013….Annual Report for the pdf you will read that the Marathon County Sheriff has a SWAT Team, Sniper Team, Bomb Team, Hostage/Crisis Negotiation Team, Dive Team and K9 Team all with their own vehicles (the SWAT team has a van and the Bearcat MRAP) all for a mostly rural area about 30 by 50 miles with 134,000 residents. There is also the Police Department of the Town of Wassau pop. 40,000 which is part of the 134,000 county population. The most common call-out is for fender-benders 569 and car vs deer collisions 469, in 2013. The SWAT team was called out 7 times in 2013, once for a suicidal person who gave himself up before they arrived. If they weren’t using the MRAP for a 75 year-old it would gather dust. Likewise, in 2013 the 11 man dive team salvaged a pick-up truck that was stolen in the ’90s from a lake.
The police should trade in their military gear for vest-mounted cameras and mics.
Iggy, are you quoting The Clash? I believe the song starts
‘When they kick in your front door, how you gonna come?’
and the next verse begins
‘When the law break in, how you gonna go?’
If the cops keep using these militarized tactics and equipment, one day soon they’re going to need them for real.
One of these days they will bite off more than they can chew, and in the process will have to decide which side they’re on.
Yea, yea, one of these days you guys will go to far and someone will get you.
Y’know, a low level pass by a couple of F-16’s from the local ANG would have been appropriate.
A criminal offence which has evolved in the last few years….unlegistalated and regrettably unregulated.
CONTEMPT OF COP.
Penalties range from simple arrest, to being beaten with a baton, tased or executed by a one man firing squad…..at the discretion of the offended cop.
How you gonna come?
Kneeling for everything or standing for something.

Beauty example is Const. James Forcillo, who we all remember fired nine carefully measured rounds into some kid with a tiny little knife last year. Then they stomped and tazed the kid as well. Or his exsanguinating corpse anyway, the experts differ on the exact cause of death.
No really, they do. Nine rounds of 9mm is competing with heart failure from the tazing as cause of death.
Just looking at the google today, it seems there’s an excellent chance Forcillo could skate. In the meantime, he’s out walking around free as a bird.
So be nice to the cops. The life you save may be your own.
Perhaps it’s time for a new national anthem. The old one no longer seems to apply and there is very little left to be proud of.
Just be glad the police don’t have an A-10 Warthog. Yet.
Unpalatable!
This was in Wisconsin, by the way.
I guess they have other varieties of heads there besides cheese-heads.
And then the folks are outraged when I can’t work out the tears for the “victims” of Justin Bourque. Nope sorry, fresh out. Try to stop behaving like an occupation force and maybe then I might begin considering the remote possibility that we are on the same side and that you do not represent a bigger threat to me than garden variety criminals.
+1 for Silly Me.
