Brampton Man

Diversity Menthols;

Officers with Saskatchewan Highway Patrol’s Provincial Protective Services Branch stopped a truck and trailer around 12:40 a.m. on Jan. 20 and located what police described as a large quantity of illegal tobacco in the trailer. The driver, an adult man, was arrested at the scene.

Battlefords RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Yorkton Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team later continued the investigation. Police say a search of the vehicle uncovered 23 pallets of unstamped tobacco containing approximately 9.1 million cigarettes, which were seized.

Investigators also determined the driver was on court-ordered release conditions related to tobacco charges in Ontario, including a requirement not to be outside that province.

Harwinder Kahlon, 41, of Brampton, Ont., is charged with transporting or possessing unstamped tobacco for the purpose of sale under the Criminal Code, possession of unstamped tobacco under the Excise Act, possessing or transporting tobacco not marked in a prescribed manner under the Tobacco Tax Act, and failing to comply with an undertaking condition.

You Don’t Hate the Media Nearly Enough

A dear female friend of mine, who has likely voted Democrat her entire life, but isn’t a Woke Leftist, told me today that she’s worried that she could get deported from the U.S. I pointed out that she’s American, so this is impossible. She sent me this NPR article:

‘Homegrowns are next’: Trump hopes to deport and jail U.S. citizens abroad
President Trump says his administration is actively exploring a proposal to detain U.S. citizens and send them to prisons in El Salvador. Speaking Monday, minutes before a press briefing alongside El Salvador’s president, Nayib Bukele, Trump could be heard embracing the concept.

“The homegrowns are next, the homegrowns. You’ve got to build about five more places,” Trump said to Bukele, an apparent reference to prison space that would be needed in El Salvador to house U.S. citizens.

El Salvador is already holding hundreds of people in a maximum-security prison. They were flown from the U.S. in recent weeks after being detained for allegedly lacking legal status or having gang affiliations.

Read through the article by this journalist Leftist activist, Brian Mann, and see if you can spot the lack of context presented by him.

I did my own research and it revealed a very different picture:

Yes, there is substantial truth to the NPR report you linked, based on multiple corroborating sources. The article accurately reflects public statements made by President Trump in April 2025, where he expressed interest in exploring the deportation and imprisonment of certain U.S. citizens—referred to as “homegrowns” or “homegrown criminals”—in foreign facilities, specifically in El Salvador. These comments were made during discussions with El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, and the White House confirmed at the time that the administration was studying the legal feasibility of such an approach for violent, repeat offenders.

Truth be told, I find it odd that Trump mentioned any of this, but the chance of my friend being deported is zero. Isn’t it “interesting” that none of this context was included in Mann’s diatribe. He is Exhibit ‘A’ of why we don’t hate the media nearly enough.

That Sinking Feeling

The bad news just keeps popping up for the Canadian economy.

General Motors Co. on Friday will eliminate the third shift at its assembly plant in Oshawa, Ont., cutting about 700 jobs inside the plant, plus another 300 to 500 workers at parts companies that supply the facility, according to Unifor, the labour union representing the workers.

Update: Those workers can just transition to building Korean EV batteries, apparently. An “agreement” has been reached.

It says the the countries plan to co-operate on advancing a Korean automotive industrial footprint in Canada and to create domestic electric vehicle manufacturing opportunities.

Unity In Disunity

The cheery facade belies the deep divide that actually exists within “Team Canada”.

Eby said later that Alberta has yet to identify sites where a pipeline would exit, it has not yet identified a proponent who would fund it, nor engaged with coastal First Nations.

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew has also protested Ford’s plans to pull Crown Royal whisky from government-run liquor store shelves. The product is made in Gimli, Man.

Ford said he understands Kinew is “doing what any other premier would do, try to protect his jobs,” while Ontario is doing the same.

Is Our Diversities Learing?

Unsurprisingly: “The memo notes that the view that ‘immigrants living in the U.S. illegally should not be deported’ receives no more than 30 percent support among Democrats and young people, and even less among other groups.” And yet Democrats still won’t take the hint.

There Goes The Narrative

I predicted this rage bait story would have a half life of about 5 days, and it looks like I may be right.

Cult Classic

Maybe it’s time for a passive/aggressive approach to idiotic court rulings. In this case, I’d suggest putting every single story house on Bonaire on stilts and/or prohibiting the occupation of the first floor on multi-floor buildings. That much stair climbing will see that residents grow tired of climate change hysteria in short order.

A court on Wednesday ordered the Dutch government to draw up a plan to protect residents on the tiny Caribbean island of Bonaire from the effects of climate change — a sweeping victory for the islanders.

The Hague District Court, in a stunning rebuke of Dutch authorities, also ruled that the government discriminated against the island’s 20,000 inhabitants by not taking “timely and appropriate measures” to protect them from climate change before it’s too late.
