Freezing In The Dark

Spiked- Berlin’s blackout was a grim taste of our Net Zero future

Berlin’s horrendous four-day blackout, which plunged over 45,000 households in the city’s south-west into darkness, is finally over. Beginning last Saturday and lasting for four nights, the blackouts left homes, shops and care facilities without light, heating and communications access – just as a particularly nasty cold spell sent temperatures plummeting to minus-10 degrees Celsius. The far-left ‘Volcano Group’ (Vulkangruppe) has claimed responsibility for the blackout, which it reportedly achieved by setting fire to electricity cables connected to Berlin’s largest gas power plant.

Postcard from Kashechewan

CTV- ‘Woefully inadequate’ response to Kashechewan crisis, officials say

The crisis began after the water treatment system failed, sending sewage into homes and contaminating the water. It also flooded the only health-care facility, requiring a temporary move to the community school. Residents are still without potable water, but bottled water has been brought into the community.

Probably just a one off event…

Whitesplaining 101

If you’re a White Woke Woman, here’s a lesson from one of your woke sisters on how to explain your own warped reality to a black law enforcement officer:

Key takeaways: Frame the scenario based on your emotions. Don’t let pesky “facts” get in the way of your tirade. Be sure to interrupt him repeatedly whenever he says anything you don’t like. Refer to him as “this one” to intentionally degrade him. Refer to his mother as an “immigrant”, even though you have no idea whether his family has been in America a lot longer than yours. Walk away feeling that you are a better person than him, convincing yourself that his views are “misguided”, unlike your enlightened views.

Most importantly, hold back any creeping thoughts in the back of your mind of what you truly are: an entitled, racist P.O.S.

Not Quite Ready

Not every investor seems ready to plow capital back into the Venezuelan oil patch. If it were my choice, I wouldn’t rush in either.

“You have an ultra-risky jurisdiction with massively uncompetitive financial terms, in an area where the rule of law is far from certain, in an oil price environment that is challenging, and in a country where the infrastructure to produce said oil requires billions and billions and billions of dollars,” he said in an interview.

“It’s a fairly high conviction call that the appetite on the part of U.S. oil CEOs to re-enter Venezuela today is very, very low.”

Decline Watch;

An arbitrator has ordered the reinstatement of an Ontario postman fired for hoarding at least 6,000 pieces of mail during the summer of 2022 because Canada Post wasn’t aware of his post-traumatic stress disorder.

Hyun Min Jang was terminated from his job as a rural and suburban mail carrier in King City, Ont., “for misdirection and delay of mail, as a result of the discovery of thousands of pieces of undelivered mail in his personal vehicle,” according to a recent decision from Kathleen G. O’Neil, the arbitrator.

Issues Of Earth-Rumbling Import

The question “what is queer food?” is, we’re told by Professor Elias, “a question that’s coming up a lot lately.” If only among academics desperate for an angle, an excuse for claiming a salary and wasting other people’s time. Academics much like Professor Elias.

Elias said she does not have a definition for what “queer food” is, but wants “recognition” it exists.

Welcome to the bleeding edge of human mental activity.

Quite how one can write “an illustrated guide to queer food,” complete with recipes, as Professor Ilias has, while simultaneously being unable to define what such a thing is, should it exist, is a question I leave to the reader.
