Officers with Saskatchewan Highway Patrol’s Provincial Protective Services Branch stopped a truck and trailer around 12:40 a.m. on Jan. 20 and located what police described as a large quantity of illegal tobacco in the trailer. The driver, an adult man, was arrested at the scene.
Battlefords RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Yorkton Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team later continued the investigation. Police say a search of the vehicle uncovered 23 pallets of unstamped tobacco containing approximately 9.1 million cigarettes, which were seized.
Investigators also determined the driver was on court-ordered release conditions related to tobacco charges in Ontario, including a requirement not to be outside that province.
Harwinder Kahlon, 41, of Brampton, Ont., is charged with transporting or possessing unstamped tobacco for the purpose of sale under the Criminal Code, possession of unstamped tobacco under the Excise Act, possessing or transporting tobacco not marked in a prescribed manner under the Tobacco Tax Act, and failing to comply with an undertaking condition.
How dare you impose your Western Christian legalistic morals on a man simply expressing his culture’s black marketeering impulses. He’s simply selling cigarettes in a way that looks … and behaves … like him.
He’s Indian, so Canadian laws don’t apply to him. Sorry aboriginals, but the rules weren’t written by someone smart enough to tell the different brown peoples apart.

The only way to get them is illegally, but you can still get them!

As long as a pack of govt stamped fags cost >$10, and they’re pushing $20 last time I checked, everyone I know will continue buying tax free bootleg tobacco. The reserves just have to get more reliable smugglers to avoid the Highway Patrol.
