Fooled You

Funny how our small army of official “fact-checkers” missed this one.

Blacklock’s- Gov’t Faked Tesla Suspension

Tesla vehicles remain eligible for federal rebates despite Transport Minister Chrystia Freeland’s claim that she froze payments to punish America. The transport department did not comment. “All vehicles that appear on the list have been deemed eligible under the Incentives For Zero Emission Vehicles Program,” said a department notice. Eligibility is restricted to electrics of any make or model that sold for less then $55,000, complied with federal safety standards for road use and “have at least four functioning wheels” to disqualify electric bikes.

The Media to Liberal Pipeline

Peter Menzies- Traditions thrown overboard as media leave unexplained Carney’s redefinition of acceptable conduct during an election

He’s able to do so because at the dawn of this campaign, he got the authority to do pretty much whatever he wants when fresh guidelines for appropriate behaviour were posted. Either no one within our media noticed, or there was a collective decision the changes didn’t amount to a big enough deal to let people know about them.

Randy Hillier Hasn’t Given Up!

Good news coming out of Ontario:

… the Ontario Court of Appeal has accepted former Ontario MPP Randy Hillier’s appeal and overturned a lower court ruling that had dismissed his Charter challenge to Ontario’s lockdown regulations. These regulations were in effect during the 2021 Covid lockdowns.

Four expert reports were filed to support Mr. Hillier’s case, including the report of Dr. Kevin Bardosh, which extensively reviewed the many ways in which lockdowns harmed Canadians. They showed alarming mental health deterioration during the pandemic among Canadians, including psychological distress, insomnia, depression, fatigue, suicidal ideation, self-harm, anxiety disorders and deteriorating life satisfaction, caused in no small part by prolonged lockdowns. Many peer-reviewed studies show that mental health continued to decline in 2021 compared to 2020. The expert report also provides abundant data about other lockdown harms, including drug overdoses, a rise in obesity, unemployment, and the destruction of small businesses, which were prevented from competing with big-box stores.

Drowning In Debt

Predictably, another pandemic style spending spree is already underway, this time premised on the idea that it is the role of the state to insulate everyone from losses incurred as a result of tax hikes in another nation. One thing that is clear in this election is that all levels of government, provincial and federal, will be going all-in on opening the spending floodgates. Any party that dared to argue otherwise would be pilloried by the electorate.

Ontario businesses will see select provincial taxes deferred for six months, which Premier Doug Ford says will give them about $9 billion worth of relief amid global economic turmoil in the face of U.S. tariffs.

Nothing To See Here

Ron Butler chats about a story that is getting completely buried in the current election: the real estate crash in the GTA and Vancouver. That would not be a good look for a government needing to pick up seats in those regions, but I’m sure the media water carriers will see to it that the story remains buried.

“…we’re at the point now where a building will not close…somebody will have finished 300 units and 60%  of the people who bought the units pre-construction will say “I’m not going to close.” Yeah you can chase me but I’m not going to close because the media information is getting out there in a bigger and bigger way and once that happens nobody’s going to close…”

Great Success!

Blacklock’s- Predict Middle Class Doomed

Canadians should expect to become poorer over the next five years, says a Privy Council report. The forecast was drawn from interviews with “experts across the Government of Canada” who said economic outlooks for families were so stark they predicted a national mental health crisis. “Downward social mobility is the norm,” said the report Disruptions On The Horizon. Collapse of the middle class was rated among the “top 10 most likely disruptions” over the next three to five years. Another likely event was “people cannot afford to live on their own,” it said.

Killing gophers and wind

Brian Zinchuk: Gopher control and a scholarship took precedence over a half billion dollar wind project.

You read that right. Gophers and a scholarship which only had one applicant, while high priced help for a half billion dollar project weren’t even offered a chair for 3.25 hours.

Don’t worry, folks. I’m doing a speech on Monday also talking about wind output going to zero frequently.

I, For One, Welcome Our New Self-Driving Roverlords

“I’m shocked — shocked — to find that China is asshole!”

Security researchers have uncovered a pre-installed, undocumented remote access tunnel in 🇨🇳 Unitree Go1 robot dogs.

Each Unitree Go1 robot dog is shipped with a preconfigured tunnel client that initiates a connection to 🇨🇳 CloudSail — a remote access platform developed by 🇨🇳 Zhexi Technology, based in China.

“Anybody with access to the API key can freely access all robot dogs on the tunnel network, remotely control them, use the vision cameras to see through their eyes, or even hop on the RPI via SSH.” […]

The discovery raises serious concerns about supply chain trust, especially as these robots are widely used in academic, corporate, and even defense-related environments.

Our Chinese-Installed Governor In Ottawa

Mark Carney has a brother.

Andy Lee (2023);

The Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) is touted as an “independent philanthropic organization” according to its website, spending £618,739,409 (approximately $1.05 billion CAD) on charitable causes in 2021 according the Government of the United Kingdom’s website. A behemoth of an entity with billions of dollars in assets, it is one of the largest philanthropy-based organizations in the world, parented by The Children’s Investment Fund Management, which naturally has a holding company located in the Cayman Islands. It was founded in 2002 by billionaire activist hedge fund manager Sir Christopher Hohn. The charity was managed by Hohn’s wife before being handed over to a CEO, who is now Kate Hampton, a main player in the formation of the 2016 Paris Accords, which pledged to, among other things, keep the rise in global temperature below 2°C (but preferably under 1.5°C) to mitigate the harmful effects of climate change.

Kate Hampton, a WEF Young Global Leader, also sits as a Council Member on the [China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development]. The CIFF’s involvement with this CCP-led environmental “think-tank” doesn’t end there though. Lei Hongpeng of CIFF works with her, acting as a Special Advisor to the organization. The charity is seemingly intricately involved with the CCICED, co-hosting conferences held by Energy Foundation China (EFC) to discuss pressing matters such as “China’s Role in Global Climate Governance.” Energy Foundation China is led by CEO and President Professor Ji Zou, another WEF member who negotiated the Paris Accords, who coincidentally also sits as a Special Advisor to the CCICED. Energy Foundation China was formerly a part of the Energy Foundation, an organization operating under the direction of the vast umbrella of the Chinese government. It’s Beijing location is reportedly registered with the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau, an entity tasked with a broad array of domestic national security activities, and answers to the National Development and Reform Commission, a department aforementioned in this article as being formerly run by Vice-Chairman Xie Zhenhua, who now leads the CCICED. The incestuous overlapping nature of the members of these bodies cannot be understated, nor are they fully explored in this article. EFC has a rather simplistic mandate as noted by Influence Watch: to assist the People’s Republic of China to become “the world leader in clean energy production,” particularly in the areas of wind and solar energy generation. The unreliables, that is. The ones that China desperately wants to provide us with. Do we see where this is going?

April 7, 2025: Reader Tips

Dear Kidz,

Before there were computers and printers, there was something called a “typewriter”. For many years, pressing a lettered key on a typewriter caused a metal arm to swing forward and “type” the designated letter on the paper via a ribbon of ink. If each key on the typewriter was pressed slowly enough, this worked well, but when keys were pressed too fast in succession, these metal arms tended to hit each other and lock up. In 1961, IBM released a new kind of electric typewriter called an IBM Selectric. It replaced the metal arms with a chrome-plated plastic ball that rotated and pivoted as each lettered key was pressed.

The IBM Selectric came to my attention [again] because of a recent stay at The Domain in North Austin, Texas. Turns out, this typewriter was manufactured there.

Your best tips, starting and ending with any letter in the alphabet, are much appreciated!

Records Were Meant To Be Broken

Sportsnet- Alex Ovechkin scores No. 895 to break Gretzky’s NHL goals record

Gretzky’s total of 894 goals had long seemed unapproachable. Ovechkin passed it even after missing 16 games in November and December because of a broken left leg, a testament to his durability and a knack for putting the puck in the net consistently for two decades. He surpassed 40 goals this season for a 14th time — two more than Gretzky and also the most in league history.

Gretzky broke Howe’s record a little over 31 years ago, since he scored 802 on March 23, 1994. He added 92 more before retiring in 1999 after a total of 1,487 games over 20 seasons.

Seems Legit

Sam Cooper- Retired Toronto Police Executive Who Joined Chinese International School Flagged in Canada’s Election Interference Inquiry Replaces Paul Chiang as Liberal Candidate

Retired Toronto Police Deputy Chief Peter Yuen, who joined the board last year of a Chinese international school in Markham flagged in testimony on foreign interference in a neighboring riding in 2019, has been named the new Liberal candidate in Markham–Unionville. He replaces Paul Chiang, who resigned last week amid an RCMP review into controversial remarks suggesting a Conservative opponent could be handed to Chinese officials for a bounty.

Update, from Kate: Meet Mark Carney’s “newest candidate in the GTA, Mr. Peter Yuen singing a “glorious” ode to CHINA & CCP *in uniform*”
