Wind is the most expensive and least reliable of all the so-called ‘renewable’ energy sources, and has one of the two worst environmental costs associated with the production, installation and disposal of it (solar being the other). It is a HUGE scam that only benefits the people who make money from the design, sale and installation of it….after that it is all ongoing costs and disappointing returns.

Perhaps the Council is well informed by Zinchuk’s own data about how unreliable and worthless the wind generators are.
And perhaps the Councillors realize that the half-billion “investment” will ultimately be scammed out of the taxpayer and power consumers.
How a wind turbine works:
Power from grid,
provides electricity,
to turn the pinwheels,
and appear to care for the environment.
Wind and solar power for a national electric grid is not economically sound. The energy source is erratic and unreliable (no sun or no wind) when that energy is required by the grid.
Nighttime is a real bitch, as there is no sun and wind tends to die down.
To make up for this shortfall, most provincial grid operators have hidden subsidies built in to the regulatory and operating framework to assist these companies when they produce electricity the grid doesn’t require.
It does make economic sense if you use solar powered driveway, patio or garden night lights for your evening lighting avoiding costly underground power cable runs.
Perhaps the leaders of Weyburn see the Seven Stars Energy Project for what it really is, a grift.
A modular mini petroleum refinery would be a better project to build.
northernnont, we can’t seem to build anything in Canada on-time and on budget. the newest refinery in Canada in Redwater was way over budget and way behind schedule, the same as TMX and Coastal GasLink. Unless those modules are completely built by China, assembled on site by temporary foreign workers and site prep work is contracted out to the same foreign firm, ( not to mention the massive subsidies and tax relief the owners will require) there is no way that a refinery can be built economically in Canada.
We need to put an end to this anti-coal insanity…..
I may suggest that the Redwater refinery is over budget by trying to incorporate a carbon capture solution in the refinering process to try appeasing the enemies of fossil fuel use.
In effect handicapping the refinery from the get go.

Even if the RM shot down the project, at the very least the council should have recognized the importance of the project AND should have shown the proper respect to the Enbridge representatives. No grasp of future consequences.. yea or nay, the council deliberately created animosity . To argue that a project is useless, but should be done because it creates jobs is to ignore the opportunity costs. Is there a better use for that investment money? Is there something useful that could be produced rather than windmill parts?

If Zinchuk had an ounce of conservatism in him and understood rural Saskatchewan beyond that of a wannabe photographer, he’d understand that gopher control is infinitely more important than a virtue signalling project like wind turbines.
I have to disagree with you Mr. Zinchuk. Irrespective of the issues involved, if I’m running a meeting and one of the issues coming up is known to be contentious or involve a lot of time with discussion and testimony, I would move everything else ahead of it so I can be sure they will get done today, rather than risk the big issue taking up too much time and having some of the other issued deferred to another meeting. Sure it can be tedious for the people passionate about the big issue, but it ensures other issues don’t get drowned out completely.
This is why I sold my Enbridge stock. They are actively generating what will be enormous liabilities ten or twenty years in the future.
The homeboys are feeling powerless in the face of Big Money.

Anyone who supports unreliable power,ie. wind and solar, simply ask if they plan to rely on only that power supply. I think the grid should supply an option that supporters of unreliable power have their power shut off every time the grid experiences a power loss because of unreliable power generation. Another option would be power generators only get paid for power that is generated 24-7 as that is what customers want. Each windmill farm or solar array complex would have to have some form of backup generation so when their unreliable generation stops a reliable form of energy generation kicks in and the grid remains stable.
