Drowning In Debt

Predictably, another pandemic style spending spree is already underway, this time premised on the idea that it is the role of the state to insulate everyone from losses incurred as a result of tax hikes in another nation. One thing that is clear in this election is that all levels of government, provincial and federal, will be going all-in on opening the spending floodgates. Any party that dared to argue otherwise would be pilloried by the electorate.

Ontario businesses will see select provincial taxes deferred for six months, which Premier Doug Ford says will give them about $9 billion worth of relief amid global economic turmoil in the face of U.S. tariffs.

  2. when l was taking poli sci courses @ McMaster it was ‘blame de ‘mercuns’ ‘mercun hegemony’ etc etc. l wasnt very popular when l pointed out stuff like despite the longest contiguous border in the world, they hadnt tried any nonsense since 1814, plus that ‘thing’ George C Marshall had named after him which successfully locked in the peace and freedom post 1945 europe.
‘plame da ‘mercuns’ ‘plame da jooos’ ‘plame da ‘mercun jooos’
    and theyre still at it.

  3. I’ve said this before, there is an EASY soluition to all this rising debt load: just make the debt “Queer”

Debt, like heteronormative science is bad, Queer Debt – like Queer Science – is good!

    QUEER THE DEBT!!!!

  4. COVID ‘relief’ was a disaster which we’ll be paying for longer than I’m alive. Stupid battery plant support can be added in here. Now ‘tariff’ relief. I suspect every provincial and municipal government is running in the red, and there’s no question that the Feds are. Rising interest rates add to the fun.

We desperately need relief from all levels of government. And the polls supposedly have the Fed Liberals in the lead after 9 years of an absolute disaster provided by them (which would continue with the same players excluding Trudeau who were responsible for this mess!)

    Wake up Canada!

  5. Wait. I speak English … and the word used was “deferred”. So there will be a massive balloon payment of taxes due on Oct. 1? Yeah, great plan, Douggie. Smoke, meet mirror.

    1. Are you sure he didn’t say “defurred”? If he suddenly imposes Brazilian wax tariffs, remember this moment.

  6. I just wish one of our governments would explain exactly what Canadian tariffs actually are. I can’t imagine that all the Bronco and Caddy drivers I see on the road are paying an inflated price for a tariffed vehicle?
Why hasn’t China Con Carney explained why these tariffs are completely unjustified with numbers?

  7. And it would be so much more costly to provide the border security Trump has requested. Cost-Benefit analysis where are you?

  8. Kanaduh is going Venezuelan. What could possibly go wrong?
Stock up on dog food for your sleigh full of monopoly money coming from your unemployment cheque.
Vote for Carney to FREE SASKABERTA!!!

    1. I’ve said for years that the only two routes forward for Canada were Chile or Venezuela. And there’s no Canadian Pinochet. No, Milei won’t do it; the Canadian bureaucracy can resist anything short of helicopters.

    1. He’s not he’s a progressive conservative, an oxymoron if ever there were one, which roughly translates to a lite socialist too stupid to get in on the Liberal grift.

    2. Because riding on the coat tails of his late brother is what got him elected, despite him not really being that conservative

  9. I’m on the record in another thread as offering to buy the first Canadian $10,000,000,000,000 dollar bill.

No country in history ever taxed, borrowed, and printed its way to prosperity. Eventually, the bills come due.

  10. Most canuckistanian believe they are paying more because of US tariffs, when it is actually the reciprocal tariffs conllected by ottawa that is costing them more. But can’t fix stupid. The problem with this move is that Alberta will have to pay more equalization to ontariowe due to this. This is a deliberate move to harm Alberta by thug ford. Broad based tax reductions, combined with a gubmint spending reductions would be a move that could help business.
