UBC Wants Your Money

As an alumni of the University of British Columbia, I received an email with this content from the UBC Estate Planning Review group.

Here’s what I wrote them back:

What gall you have to ask me to devote even one cent of my hard earned money to you and your fellow woke ilk. You don’t believe in free speech and are now in the midst of a major lawsuit by professors and a former grad student against compelled speech!!! Mere words can never adequately describe how deeply disgusted I am by all of you DEI Social Justice Warriors. You are truly bad, evil people.

In case you’re not aware, this is the lawsuit against UBC by four professors and a former graduate student.  Thus, if anyone donates money to UBC, this is what they are supporting:

  • Declaring that UBC is on “unceded” Indigenous land.
  • Requiring expressions of agreement with, fidelity to or loyalty to diversity, equity and inclusion (D.E.I.) doctrines or other political beliefs as a condition of applying for faculty positions.
  • Making declarations of support or condemnation of Israel or Palestinians or stating opinions on the absolute or relative morality, lawfulness or political justification for violence in Israel or Gaza.

The smiling a$$holes here think it perfectly fine to work for an organization that supports these things.

Western Standard- Alberta sets groundwork for referendum day after Liberal election victory

To hold an independence referendum in Alberta, currently, the process can be initiated through two primary mechanisms under existing legislation, the Referendum Act and the Citizen Initiative Act.

A petition must collect signatures from approximately 600,000 eligible voters (about 20% of Alberta’s eligible voters, based on the 2019 election turnout) within a 90-day period.

If passed, the new law will cut the number needed cut in half to 10%.

National Post- Accused Filipino festival killer was under supervision of mental health team, says ministry

The statement from British Columbia’s Ministry of Health says Adam Kai-Ji Lo was being followed closely under the Mental Health Act, and there was “no indication of violence” in his presentation to the health team.

Interim Vancouver Police Chief Steve Rai said the morning after the attack that the suspect had a “significant history of interactions with police and health-care professionals related to mental health.”

Nationwide, headlines describe a spectrum of transgendered, nonbinary, and other “gender non-conforming” variations of criminal offenders. These range from relatively innocuous criminality—like Brinton’s—to deadly violence. In January, transgender repeat knife offender Jaia Cruz fatally stabbed a postal worker after jockeying over places in the sandwich line at a Manhattan deli. A few weeks later, transgender Nicol Suarez, who was being pursued by ICE for previous crimes, stalked and then raped a 14-year-old boy in a bodega bathroom in East Harlem. In February, 18-year-old transgender Trinity Shockley was arrested as she planned a mass Valentine’s Day school shooting. She failed where Tennessee transgender teen Audrey Hale succeeded; Hale gunned down six kids and adults at The Covenant School.

All of these cases raise a very obvious question: Do transgender Americans commit crime at higher rates or of different types than “cis-gender” Americans?

The answer is: We have no idea.

Wrong. The answer is: They won’t tell us.

Western Canada Secession: Why Does the West stay in Canada?

Alberta exported over $161B worth of products to the US in 2024.

Alberta and Ontario had $15.5B in two way trade in 2022

Saskatchewan exported $29B worth of products and commodities to the US in 2023

No clear data available for Saskatchewan trade numbers with Ontario, but suffice to say trade with the US exceeds trade within Canada.

British Columbia has 19 border crossings with the United States, Alberta has 6, Saskatchewan has 12, and Manitoba has 16. There is just 1 narrow 2 lane road through 1,000 miles of wilderness connecting all of Western Canada with Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces, yet the East rules the lives of Western Canada?

Ontario and Quebec won’t buy oil from Western Canada, preferring to buy from the US, or Saudi Arabia. Even Russian oil is preferred to Canadian oil.

Ottawa will not allow Western Canada to export LNG to other countries, forcing Europe to rely on Russian LNG.

The Liberal government won’t even fight the 100% tariff on Canadian canola.

The only thing Eastern Canada wants from the West are tax dollars which they give to provinces dealing with insolvency.

So why do we stay? What advantage is it to stay part of a government that hobbles us at every level? It’s time Western Canada breaks free from the Stockholm Syndrome that has held us back for over a century. I don’t know exactly what that will look like, but I do know it will be better than what we have now.

Special thanks to Quebec for paving the way forward.

Breitbart- Trump to Sign Order Ensuring Truckers Speak English

“President Trump believes that English is a non-negotiable safety requirement for professional drivers, as they should be able to read and understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officers, border patrol, agricultural checkpoints, and cargo weight-limit station personnel, and provide and receive feedback and directions in English,” the document notes.

Narrative Contradictions

Who would have thought that a warmer climate could create more frequent spring frosts? It’s not as if you can expect fewer frosts in a cooler climate. But maybe that’s just my bourgeois logic at fault. If you find that people aren’t buying that argument anyway, you can always just blame Trump.

Traditionally, the plants’ buds break out in spring, emerging with colorful grapes that range from the cabernet franc’s deep blues to the soft greens of the region’s most popular grape, riesling. However, a warming world is making that happen earlier, adding to uncertainty and potential risks for farmers. If a frost comes after the buds have broken, growers can lose much of the harvest.

Political tensions, such as tariffs amid President Donald Trump’s trade wars and the administration’s rollback of environmental policies, are also looming problems.
