Breitbart- Trump to Sign Order Ensuring Truckers Speak English
“President Trump believes that English is a non-negotiable safety requirement for professional drivers, as they should be able to read and understand traffic signs, communicate with traffic safety officers, border patrol, agricultural checkpoints, and cargo weight-limit station personnel, and provide and receive feedback and directions in English,” the document notes.

But those guys who just got off the plane this morning and into a truck this afternoon paid good money for their trucking licenses!
Imagine having this rule in Quebec.
You mean having truckers being able to speak French so they can communicate with Sureté du Québec and 90% of the population? Great idea.
About a third of the population of Quebec speaks English, two-thirds of the population of Montreal does. Of course, about 98% speak French, so I am not going to pretend that it’s bad idea to speak French, just that it may not be as necessary as it might seem.
Wait until the Frenchy truckers hit America now….
If the international language of commercial flight is English … then why shouldn’t the same thing apply to the American highways … where you all have … statistically … a much higher chance of traffic death?

Yup. You’re not flying in US airspace if you can’t speak English. Makes sense.
In canadian airspace French is allowed in Quebec, many general aviation or bush pilots up there in the north never learned English. Also makes sense.
I’ve been in Quebec, on frequency, they do speak in French, I don’t agree with it, a standard is a standard and it should be adhered to for safety, especially in sensitive areas like Transportation. This is coming from someone who can speak all 3 of North America’s official languages!
Fear not, it may change, you never know?!
“The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) requires that pilots, air traffic controllers, and aeronautical station operators involved in international operations demonstrate English proficiency at least at Level 4 on the ICAO’s language proficiency rating scale. This level ensures effective communication during international flights and mitigates risks associated with language barriers.”
Well done GEOTUS!!!
Now do Canada next!
