The grid frequency across continental Europe plunged to 49.85 hertz — just a hair above the red-line collapse threshold.

Diesel generator plant operators loved the old Detroit 20 cylinder 20V149 two stroke generator engines.
They fired a cylinder every 18 degrees of crankshaft rotation compared to a Cat 16 cylinder 3515 that fired a cylinder every 45 degrees.
Doesn’t seem like much but the two stroke could react to load surges quicker.

Did some homework and it was interesting reading about the concept of inertia in a power grid. Which solar and wind provide zero. They were warned by engineers, but politicos are used to ignore them to chase unicorn farts with little accountability.
Blackouts and the grid going down coming to North America… by design.
