  2. As of right now when I am posting this, the NDP doesn’t have enough seats to even have a balance of power. This is bad news for the newly-formed Lieberal minority to have to rely on the Block to stay in power, given what Blanchet said about Carney recently.
    To the trolls like UnReal, this isn’t over. Don’t be so arrogant as to start gloating too hard.

    It does look like PP will be losing his seat, which I find to be the biggest shock of the night.
    Carney must be relieved knowing that he won’t have to face PP during QP, so don’t count on a by-election with PP any time soon.

        I may be wrong at times, but my gut has a much better record than I have. I’m disappointed to see that the liebs are now flirting with a majority, but I hardly say that I “ignored your warning.” Heck, I moved to Alberta, didn’t I? Wouldn’t you say that I saw the writing on the wall, and got the heck out of Dodge because of it?

        And so now, I am with my brethren, and together, we will decide OUR future, since Canada no longer has one.

    2. Repeating what I said earlier: this could be a lot worse. I truly feared runaway majority like Kathleen got in 2014. The crushing of the NDP is also wonderful: the True Left has taken real damage. Tonight they sold most of the family jewels just to keep the mortgage afloat.

      Here’s an idea: with PP out, try Rona Ambrose again. She was better as interim leader than anyone who came after her.

        If Canuckistanians couldn’t see the light, and vote for PP as the only real alternative to the oncoming lieberal freight train of socialism, it really wouldn’t matter who would be leading the party.

        (as an aside, yes, I said I was going to vote PPC, but when I got to the ballot box, I was somewhat surprised to find that the PPC candidate’s name was dropped from the ballot, so I voted for the only real alternative, and as I predicted, the CPC candidate in my riding won by a landslide.)

        The ONLY REAL option now for Albertans is glaringly obvious.

      I live in one of them: Edmonton Strathcona. All my MP Heather McPherson has to do is wait until October and she qualifies for her pension. Aside from cheering for Hamas, she doesn’t seem to do much in Parliament.

    4. @fc: If PP will lose Carleton, it will be because of the shenanigans with the extra 85 candidates. Which btw was Librano$’ doing and it’s because PP would destroy a mortician like Carney in Parliament.

      Who knows, maybe this result is for the better. Liberals won’t be able to do anything so probably Canada, ruderless, will be easier to overtake by Trump.

      At least NDP collapsed which is good.

      1. No it isn’t. That’s pure cope. There is nothing about having a bunch of names on a ballot that magically drains your vote. It was just a mistake to run there. Another tactical error on the part of Pierre. One of many.

        Trump isn’t overtaking anything. He’s collapsing his own party.

        2. Oh, UnReal… PP has been running in Carleton since the mid 2000’s, and was the MP representing that riding since then. I know. When I lived in Ottawa, Carleton was adjacent to my riding of Ottawa South.
          So why would PP run in another riding?

          The same protest that organized the oversized ballot in Carleton claimed that they didn’t have the resources to target Nepean, where Carney was running after stealing the riding from Chandra Arya. So tell me again that this wasn’t a targeted action. It was a pure tactic of voter suppression targeting PP. Many people complained, found the ballot confusing, and couldn’t find PP’s name on the list.

          You really should check your facts before spouting misinformation.

            To make things even more confusing, the ballot was arranged and sorted alphabetically by candidates’ last name, but the first column is the candidates’ affiliation, and the candidates’ names were listed first name first.
            I can imagine how much effort would have been required to find PP’s name, which wound up 2/3 down the list.
            This elongated ballot was an organized protest by activists who are peeved with the first-past-the-post system, but the organizers claimed that there was no political animus towards PP. They simply didn’t have enough resources to do the same thing to Carney’s riding of Nepean. If you can believe that…
            The irony is, that if this protest was legitimate, they should have targeted Nepean instead of Carlton, because it was Trudeau that failed to deliver on his promise to reform the system, but they didn’t do that.
            This was undoubtedly targeted to suppressing votes for PP. No question!

  10. Well, here’s more proof that this blog is a sanctuary for those to whom escapism is a way of life. People no less detached from reality than a typical woketard, but having different fantasies. Cheering for the “51st state” rhetorics, ignoring it initially when when the CPC massively tanked in the polls, then dismissing the polls as liberal-slanted, now pretending that missing a chance to get a Conservative majority doesn’t matter.

    Liberal = 7,812,000
    Conservatives = 7,522,000
    NDP = 1,100,000
    Bloc = 1,198,000
    PPC = 132,000

    2021
    Liberal = 5,557,000
    Conservatives = 5,742,000
    NDP = 3,035,000
    Bloc = 1,301,000
    PPC = 844,000

    Looks like the collapse of the NDP, with approx 2 million votes going to the Liberals.

    I suspect 700,000 PPC votes went conservatives. Plus 1,100,000 new voters to Conservatives?

    A better analysis can come after all votes are counted, and by looking at individual province/city results.

    1. Conservatives appear to have won under 50 vote and Libranos won the over 50 vote. Every successive cycle there will be less Libranos and more Conservatives. It is their swan song. More swine than swan though. They will do a lot of harm though.

        My are issues are;
        how will Pierre get a seat (ie. will any CPC MP volunteer to give it up a safe seat in return for a more permanent reward working within the party that wouldn’t have the risk of an election like a seat does); and
        that if we go from a 9 year recession into a full blown depression, at least the blame will be where it is deserved, on the Liberals. Of course if there is a by-election, you can bet that the Liberals along with the labour unions and government funded NGO’s will be putting all their resources into trying to ensure Pierre doesn’t get the seat.

        It is hard to fight a mostly unified legacy media front (with the exception of the Nation Post and its local papers), when the others are “subsidized” with our own tax dollars. It still amazes me, when somebody I know, gets upset over some absolute fantasy that came out of the CBC.

        1. They’ll find a seat, I am sure of that, I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that Mackenzie King was twice in this situation. He will be back an he will be better prepared. Also “Orange Man Bad” will lose its allurer after few months of Carnage. Also Libranos still have to find a coalition partner. Will the new NDP leader (who ever that is) volunteer?

    1. The man who has all his money off-shore was just elected to lower our taxes. Let that sink in. And he’s promised to eliminate the carbon tax.

    2. We lost a battle not a war. Libranos got a stay of execution, yes, they will do damage in the meantime but their win is due to exceptional set of circumstances unlikely to ever repeat themselves (Ford/Trump/NDP). Even with loosing seven seats because Maxipads (by last count) Cons did better than in the last three elections. Demographics will do the rest.

    USB (Swiss investment bank) bought and dismantled a Chinese BYD EV. Their conclusion was the car was better engineered and much cheaper than European versions. They concluded the European car markers will have a tough time competing. German automaker CEOs checked out the Chinese cars at a recent Euro car show and were both impressed and concerned with the Chinese EVs.

    One of the secrets of Chinese manufacturing is the high level of vertical integration (70% versus less than 50% for the legacy auto-makers). This means the car manufacturer sources most of its parts from within and is not reliant on the global supply chain. A second secret is that most of the legacy auto supply chain comes from China anyway so parts can be sourced locally.

    If Chinese car manufacturers are allowed in Canada and the USA the results will be devastating to the legacy auto makers such as Ford and GM but also to Tesla which can’t compete on costs without subsidies. This is what happens when you live in a world with more lawyers than engineers.

    2. One thing that cannot be ignored in trading with China is that they are at war with the western world. We are just too stupid to realize it. In WWII the American auto industry was producing tanks and airplanes. Every small machine shop was producing parts for military equipment. Every clothing factory was producing uniforms.

      Almost none of these factories exist anymore. The biggest reserve force any country can have is it’s industrial capacity. That’s all in China. We could cook a lot of burgers for our our armies but not much more.

  15. The most unfortunate part of this result is the corruption will continue unabated. We have a virtual dictator who has control of virtually every entity that can hold them to account. Look for them to consolidate their powers , and come up with new ways to confiscate normal peoples wealth. Home equity tax, capital tax, and central bank digital currency as well as subversion of dissenting voices are all likely to be on the table.
