  1. Well it’s the morning after.

If Poilievre loses his own seat he can’t possibly continue as party leader. He then has to resign in disgrace, and the Liberals would be sorely tempted to call a snap election while the Conservatives are in disarray and win their majority.

Does it even matter anymore? Canadians made it pretty clear that they (hard to use the “we” here) don’t feel they need saving from Liberals. Ever. They’re peachy keen with everything Liberals propose. Liberals, Liberals, more Liberals, huzzah, elbows up and all that.

I think we passed the point of no return sometime in the past decade.

    1. Yes I.M.; I also feel we have passed the point of no return. A friend commented this morning it’s like sheep to the slaughter. I had great hopes for Poilievre and the the Conservatives but it was not to be. It will be interesting to see if Daniel Smith is as good as she portrays or just a lot of hot air. Unfortunately I think that Canada as a country is finished; the only thing now is, will it be a slow painful death or a quick end to what was once a country with great potential. Steve O

      1. Smith’s heart is in the right place, but she’s accomplished nothing. Yet another feckless, chickenshit ‘conservative’.

  2. Canada needed a Trump, or at least a Farage, but got a Romney with too many vowels. I think I.M. is correct, the point of no return has already passed. I’ve said it before, people will need to decide to either surrender, or really fight. It will be interesting, but probably not much fun.

  3. Will now have to see if anyone in the west can grow themselves a nut and climb down off the turnip truck and actually do anything. Up to this point they have just been a like a bunch of beady eyed barking chihauhaus – big mouths, no bite. Forget about the Blubber Dougie crowd being any sort of allies. The ball is in the wests court – do something concrete about your situation or shut up and be good milch cows.

    1. You do something about it kada your a typical liberal sit back and bitch and hope someone else carries the load. The blame on this fiasco clearly lies on eastern canada we will move on without Eastern Canada and prosper

      1. What if we are not “of the west”, and it’s not our load to carry? Unfortunately, many of us can’t help you, due to our present location. The “west” is your business, we don’t live there. The “east” will never change, deal with it, either way.

  4. Re. The Politics Of Kindness and Jacinda Ardern. When she resigned “her party was in free fall in the polls, having plunged from 60% in October 2020 to just 27% by late 2022.”.

Looking at Canada this morning, she should have stuck it out.

  5. kinda peculiar, but *personally* the LIEberals benefit me.
the housing bubble has induced me to sell my 5th home. prices have dropped since the panic subsided but lm still much further ahead.
so lm going to rent. and rent it casually appears got some sanity back.
so if l scrimp scrimp scrimp maybe, juuuuust maybe liberalism will bring the day when instead of 1 house per city block has a for sale sign, 10 or 15 of them do.
at which point cash is king. at which point l pick up some windswept shack for 20 cents on the dollar. we should know a lot more about tiny homes then too, lots of resales available for 10 cents on the dollar.
bluudy Liberals gonna smash Canada. they will rule over a corpse.

  6. The Bloc and whats left of the NDP will keep Carney in power. To keep them happy he will promise Quebec lots of free stuff and promise the NDP more socialist policies.

  7. Soon, long suffering residents in Venezuela and Zimbabwe will point to the Chinese Lieberal Democratic Peoples Republic of Kanada and say, “Well, things could be so much worse.”
