A Hard Pill to Swallow

This recent post by an American who regularly worked in Canada caught my eye.

As a Canadian who has lived & worked in America for about a dozen years, I wanted to share some thoughts of my own. Before I say anything though, I need to state the obvious: If you’re a small “c” conservative, an SDA regular, etc., I am NOT talking about YOU!!!  I’ve met several of you in person and you’re all outstanding people! Kate is one of the most amazing women I’ve ever had the good fortune to meet! OMG if all Canadian women were even 50% as based & pragmatic as her, our home & native land would be thriving and not a WEF / Laurentian Elite psychological lab experiment.

With that clearly stated, let me share some thoughts and you all can let me know if I’m completely wrong, exaggerating, or just maybe onto something . . .

Puerto Vallarta Erupts… Developing

Shelter in Place: Edmontonians are stranded in Puerto Vallarta after cartel violence erupted following reports that Mexican forces killed alleged cartel leader El Mencho.

Guadalajara Airport chaos.

@TheAffairs51513 – Footage Shows CJNG Cartel Gunmen Setting Truck and Trailer Ablaze on Puerto Vallarta Highway.

More chaos here on the account of @LaPaginaNegraMX·

Spreading violence: … vehicles and businesses being set on fire in Mexico’s major tourist centers Cancún, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, and Cozumel.

NYT: Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho,” was the head of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel and widely regarded as one of the country’s most violent criminal figures.

I just learned I have family members there at the moment, so pretty concerned.

No business case, indeed

Remember when Germany came to Canada for LNG, and Trudeau took their Chancellor to Newfoundland for wind-generated hydrogen?
N.L. vows to chase wind-hydrogen companies for $34.5 million in overdue land fees.

And regarding wind power generation, I just posted this.

For 52 minutes straight on Saturday, Alberta’s 1760 wind turbines had zero output and couldn’t charge a cellphone

…. and its’s still showing zero right now, for at least another 24 minutes, and counting.

Money For Nothing

If Carney’s defense “plan” doesn’t fit the definition of a slush fund designed to line the pockets of Liberal cronies, I don’t know what would.

Carney’s strategy in making sure this actually gets done is a familiar one: create a new agency (in this case, the Defense Investment Agency) headed by a suit (investment banker Doug Guzman) whose job it will be to streamline processes and deliver results. That’s in addition to the existing entities charged with the work of defense (the Department of National Defense), subsidizing defense (the Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development) and purchasing the tools necessary for defense (Public Services and Procurement Canada).
