Turns out there’s a new development out of the story that took place on Monday.
Justin Trudeau on Monday didn’t think much of Saskatchewan’s clean energy projects.
On that very day, characterized by fog throughout much of southern Saskatchewan (where the wind turbines are located), SaskPower’s total wind power generation fell to “-1 megawatt,” as in negative one megawatt, according to the Crown corporation’s Where Does Your Power Come From web page. This is the lowest number Pipeline Online has seen since the page went online in September, 2022. It’s also an average throughout the entire day, not just at a particular moment.
According to SaskPower, “The turbines were iced up and unable to produce. The -1 megawatt was load to service the facilities.”
Saskatchewan has 617 megawatts of installed grid-scale wind power generation.
Also, SaskPower is now paying people extra just to stay in Coronach instead of walking away early from the doomed coal plant.
First Germany comes to Canada, looking for LNG (liquefied natural gas). Then Japan. And we have nothing to give them. Why?
Justin Trudeau. That’s why. And his merry band of anti-energy protestors and ministers.
While the US has moved fast and hard to get LNG export facilities in place over the last decade, Canada has dragged its feet and stubbed its toe. We let protestors (Coastal GasLink), provincial governments (Quebec) and the federal government (Energie Saguenay) get in the way. Now, while the world is crying for LNG from Canada, we have nothing – NOTHING – to give them.
What else would you expect from a government who killed the Northern Gateway and Energy East pipelines? That scared off Teck from its $20 billion Frontier oil sands project? That hardly whimpered when Biden killed Keystone XL?
The only way this will change is if we have a change in government in Ottawa, and a change in attitude in this nation. We can’t be Can’tada any longer. The world needs us.
Why was Diane Francis ever hired to write for a supposedly conservative newspaper in the first place? Note that skyrocketing borrowing is not mentioned as the main problem here, but rather Republican efforts to use Debt Ceiling legislation as leverage to restrain spending.
If you don’t feel alarmed yet, just look at the horrors that Diane Francis lists. Horrors, I tell you, horrors!
Some of the Republicans are isolationists and want to use their newfound leverage to slash financial support for the Pentagon and cut military aid for Ukraine.
Legislative control seems prudent, but some Republicans are threatening not to increase the debt limit unless severe cuts are made to Social Security and Medicare.
In a liberal nutshell, debt ceiling legislation is just fine….provided that you unquestioningly raise the debt ceiling limit in perpetuity.
Whatever it takes to make Liberals look better.
Much of the current debate about inflation focuses on how Canada is doing relative to other countries, especially the U.S. Unfortunately, many people, including economists, are quick to simply compare the consumer price index (CPI) in the two countries. The latest readings were 7.0 per cent in the U.S. versus 4.8 per cent here, which suggests inflation is less of a problem for us. But this ignores how the CPI (and many other statistics) differ among national statistical agencies.

Statistics Canada’s excludes used car prices, which rose sharply in North America in the pandemic after a shortage of computer chips resulted in fewer new autos being produced just as demand accelerated. There is no theoretical reason to exclude used cars. Statistics Canada simply does not have the resources to survey them adequately. At the moment, used-car prices are adding over a percentage point to inflation south of the border. We almost certainly are experiencing some used-car inflation; we’re just not counting it.
There are other differences in the CPI, notably the treatment of housing, one of the largest components of prices. There is no right or wrong way to measure housing prices, which is why how it’s done has changed over time in both countries. The reasons for the difference are less important to users than the fact that there is a difference.

Not even 24 hours after burying OPP Const. Greg Pierzchala, who was allegedly shot by a man who had skipped bail on gun charges, a major crime incident occurred in London on Thursday that saw a man in a retail store shot in the chest and his female co-worker hit in the head with a blunt object that sources say was a hammer.
Both victims are in hospital in critical condition.
Another: 22-year-old man arrested for attempted murder while already on release for a separate attempted murder and firearms offences.

Two days ago, Canadian Members of Parliament, including Federal cabinet minister @OmarAlghabra and Green Party Leader @ElizabethMay, met with and hosted a dangerous antisemite and Holocaust denier.
“The Canada-Palestine Parliamentary Friendship Group”, chaired by Liberal MP @SalmaZahid15, hosted Nazih Khatatba and his “Meshwar Media” on Parliament Hill for a celebratory event.
Khatatba’s Meshwar Media has referred to the Holocaust as the “Holohoax” – “the biggest lie in history.” In 2015, the newspaper called Judaism a “terrorist religion,” in which killing is ingrained.
In 2014, Meshwar Media praised the the synagogue massacre in the Har Nof neighbourhood of Jerusalem, in which Canadian citizen Chaim Rotman was murdered with an axe while at prayer, as “courageous”.
More recently, he praised the heinous nail-bomb murder of 16-year-old Aryeh Schupak as a “quality operation” by Palestinians.

Well, at least they put organized crime out of business.
Canadians who invested in cannabis companies have lost more than $131 billion, according to data collected by law firm Miller Thomson, which calculated the total losses of 183 publicly traded and licenced cannabis producers.
It’s a staggering number that if divided equally between an estimated three million active investors would equate to each losing about $43,000.
Larry Ellis, a lawyer with the firm, points out to CTV National News that he “doesn’t know of many Canadian investors who can afford to lose $40,000 individually.”
