Shithole city: A 65-year-old man, who was out walking his dog in Schomberg, Ont., is now fighting for his life after being shot at 13 times in a random attack after he gestured at a speeding vehicle to slow down, police said. (h/t Mike)

(Ok, so Schomberg is outside of Toronto, but Toronto is still a shithole city, and something tells me they weren’t shooting at their own neighbors.)

  5. This is a horrible story that has not been played out fully. The police are still investigating and hopefully they will arrest & charge perpetrators and the judicial system will try, convict and properly punish the guilty. I know this is probably a long shot but will remain optimistic.
    As a Canadian I want to hope this happens as the rule of law is essential to a civilized society. As a resident in Schomberg I want this to happen yesterday.
    God speed to our fellow 65 year old citizen.

  7. Just for giggles, go to Google Maps and take a look at the location — “Centre Street between Rebellion Way and Church Street”. Not a main street. And look at the satellite view — not a hood by any means. A far cry from, say, Jane and Finch, or 20th St in Saskatoon.

    1. In light of Kate’s update — “Ok, so Schomberg is outside of Toronto” — I kinda want to update my comment above about the crime scene. My intent was not to mock the “Toronto is a shithole” take, but to point out that the shithole is exporting its crap further and further out, and to some pretty nice areas.

      That said, I suspect that the thugs here may have come from Newmarket. Newmarket is an up-and-coming shithole in its own right.

      1. Newmarket was a lovely town when I moved there in 2002. By the time I left in 2017, it was on the fast-track to shithole. I drive through Newmarket every couple of months to go to Holland Landing and each time I can’t believe how quickly it has changed since my last visit.

  8. The rcmp is a machismo organization. The first all women troop graduated in 1974. Women have never been accepted as equals in the force.

    Along comes the Bong and what does he do? The fool appoints a woman to lead. Lucki’s failure is on him. She never stood a chance. That said she wasn’t qualified.

    2. I was in training in Regina when the first female troop arrived. I saw Cpl instructors helping the female recruits setting up their dorms, carrying heavy things. I’m sure there was some benefits received on both sides of the equation.

  9. This whole area used to be wonderful small town Ontario. Not it has become Brampton spillover with all the associated enrichment. It is harder and harder to find a civilized place to live within driving distance of GTA.

    1. I lived in Brampton when the population was about 20,000 white people. Bought a house there in 1970 for $14,500.

  11. Schomberg is small town Ontario the same way Vegreville is small town Alberta or Weyburn is small town Saskatchewan. Farmers and lawyers rub shoulders at the arena, teachers and welders play on the ball diamond, electricians and business owners work together as Lions or KofC. We are not Jane & Finch or 97 th street in Edmonton or 20th in Saskatoon but are not immune to the crimes of those cities. I do not have the answers to all our problems but do believe part of the answer will be a belief in strong families and friendship. People need to ask are they a citizen or a consumer, a part of the community or the economy. When you know the answer you will know if your town is worth living in or not.

Here in the SF Bay Area … in and around Oakland, CA … where freeway shootings are a weekly happenstance … we have learned to NEVER reprimand any other motorist lest our vehicle become riddled with bullets from multiple illegal guns. No middle fingers, not waving hands, no yelling. And we know that all during our funeral … the local newscasters would bemoan “gun violence” in the Bay Area.

    We know better. Because Law Enforcement no longer exists.

  15. Why is society degenerating in this way? Some reasons: a. The government, media and academia scorn our Christian past. b. Families are degenerating because nobody understands perseverance in love. c. Police are not incentivized to uphold the law because those brought to justice rarely face significant consequences for their misdeeds. d. The progressive left nurtures a sense of entitlement and diminished personal responsibility. More?

    2. e. generalized civilian cowardice as well
      f. lack of analytical skills that would correctly identify these enumerated failings … and do something about it. Case in point – my local NextDoor app is filled DAILY with car burglaries, home invasions, catalytic converter thefts, smash and grabs, porch piracy, and assaults of all kinds … yet REFUSE to connect the rapid and bold increase in these crimes to a supermajority of leftist politicians in positions of power.
