We Need a Name for This Recurring Phenomenon

Imagine you’re a psychiatrist with decades of experience.  In recent years, you’ve noticed a new category of patients who possess all of the following traits:

  1. They’re well educated, often with a master’s degree or more.
  2. They’re gainfully employed, often in prominent positions.
  3. Politically, they are always Left of Centre.
  4. When significant political events occur, which they don’t support, they embark on a tirade of expletives on social media, demonizing their political opponents.
  5. The aforementioned outbursts causes them to:
    1. Lose their jobs.
    2. Delete/Hide/Protect their social media.

The most recent example of this is Laura Helmuth, editor-in-chief of Scientific American.  Her LinkedIn profile is still up but her Twitter page is now locked down. Young people are supposed to look up to the best and brightest, but then some of them publicly share things like this.  Perhaps this episode exposed that she was neither the best, nor bright?  Perhaps it’s proof positive that she was hired for reasons other than being intelligent and competent?  Unfortunately, her tenure at Scientific American has destroyed the reputation of this once highly regarded magazine.

It’s easy enough to conclude that people like her are infected with TDS or the Woke Mind Virus but a new term is surely waiting to be launched, to describe such hateful, insane people.  Do share your best ideas!

Blacklock’s- $18B Filibuster Freezes House

The House has been gridlocked since a September 26 ruling by Speaker Greg Fergus. The Speaker ruled cabinet failed to comply with a June 10 House order to produce documents regarding inside dealing at a now-disbanded federal agency, Sustainable Development Technology Canada. Directors were implicated in 186 conflicts of interest, according to auditors.

Conservatives have filibustered House proceedings, all but Question Period. The gridlock has prevented the introduction, passage or debate of all government bills.

The Zimbabwe Solution

In a country where the leaders refer to each other as comrade, it’s only a matter of time until they come up with a scheme to strip-mine investors. What could possibly go wrong?

Alarm bells are ringing in South Africa over the potential introduction of a wealth tax, a measure being pushed by several civil society organisations and now being considered by the National Treasury in collaboration with SARS.

If a wealth tax is to be introduced, questions remain as to whether it will tax wealth directly or focus on the returns generated by wealth, which are already subject to various taxes, including personal income tax, capital gains tax, and taxes on interest and rentals.

London Free Press- London cricket plant cuts two-thirds of workforce amid cash-flow crunch

Aspire Foods announced the jobs cuts Wednesday. About 50 workers remain at the plant in southeast London that opened in 2022 and received $8.5 million in federal government funding.

“It has been challenging. The company was ramping up but it became clear we needed to improve yields and we did not have cost structure” to improve production while keeping workers on site, he said.

“The mechanical systems were challenged, they were overloaded harvesting. We had crickets everywhere.”

The Complete Lack of Self-Awareness of an Educational “Leader”

Monica Asher is a high school principal in Central Ohio. She has forever become infamous for this letter she sent out to her staff. It’s well worth a read.

Here are some key parts of it:

  • “Know that Orange will continue to be a place where students, all students, find safety.” – This directly infers that any staff member or student who supports Trump may put some students’ safety in jeopardy.  In other words, she is accusing others of pre-crimes.
  • “It will continue to be a place that not only values diversity, but celebrates it.” – Except diversity of thought and opinions that differ from hers.
  • “Orange will continue to be a place where showing compassion and respect to those around us is a priority . . . .” – Implying that Trump supporters have no compassion or respect for others.  History has shown us that quite the opposite is almost always the case.
  • “It will continue to be a place where we support and uplift others.” – One can only wonder whether a student wearing a Trump hat or a Freedom shirt is at risk of severe demonization, ostracization, and grade degradation because of the overt prejudice openly expressed by Ms. Asher and her like-minded colleagues.
  • “[Buffalo] stick together for protection, with the stronger individuals leading and guiding the group, ensuring that the younger and weaker members are kept safe.” – Would this be akin to encouraging BLM or Antifa like mobs to target anyone who overtly supports Trump or simply chooses not to vocally support their Marxist-like herd mentality?
  • “We can move towards the light . . . .” – She is explicitly saying that anyone who supports a country’s borders, law and order, and a good economy is moving away from the light.  Wow!

Blacklock’s- New ArriveCan Plan By 2026

The program will see Canadians “provide their biographic, biometric declaration and other border-related information prior to arriving at the port of entry,” said the report Traveller Modernization. “Officers will be given smartphones to access the digital referrals and process them,” it said.

“Travellers will use a redesigned advance declaration mobile application to submit their digital photo, advance declaration and license plate information in advance of arrival,” wrote the Agency.

Y2Kyoto: Beginning Of The End

Ross McKitrick;

Trump’s remarks about energy during the campaign were unmistakable. When he quipped about wanting to be dictator for a day it was to close the border and “drill, drill, drill.” When asked how he would reduce the cost of living he said he would rapidly expand energy production with a target of cutting energy costs by at least 50 per cent. And on election night he said again: the United States has the oil, the liquid gold, and is going to use it.

Soon U.S. climate policy will no longer be a thing. The Biden administration delivered extravagant green energy subsidies under the Inflation Reduction Act. They were easy to bring in and will be just as easy for Trump to eliminate, especially the ones targeted at Democratic special interest groups. Trump 2.0 will not settle for merely stalling on new climate action; it’s more likely to try to dismantle the entire climate bureaucracy.

In 2016 Trump did not understand how Washington could thwart a president’s plans. But he learned many hard lessons merely trying to survive lawfare, resistance and open insubordination. It took three years for him to install people in senior positions in the climate area who could begin to push back against the vast regulatory machine. But at that late stage they had neither time nor capacity to get much done.

This term should be different. Trump’s team has spent years developing legal and regulatory strategies to bring full executive authority back to the Oval Office so it can execute plans quickly and efficiently. His top priority is hydrocarbon development and his team is in no mood for compromise. As for climate, Trump recently remarked “Who the hell cares?”

That’s the reality. Now our own policy-makers must decide what to ask of Canadians in terms of shouldering the costs of climate policies.
