Y2Kyoto: State Of Anorexia Envirosa

600.000 German Households can no longer afford to pay their energy bills;

…one first has to find out the real costs incurred by the German citizens by looking at the payments to owners of “renewable” energy generation as stipulated in the German EEG law. This law intends to promote “renewables” by guaranteeing the operators fixed electricity prices over a 20-year period. For the consumer, these gross totals are much more meaningful than the seemingly “small” premiums per kWh that he finds on his electricity bill. The trick here is that what he sees on the bill is only a minor portion of the real story. The total cost is ultimately passed on to him not only by his direct energy consumption, but also over his entire other costs of living. Set aside export goods, all electricity costs charged to industry, commerce, trade and the public sector will, by way of higher prices, charges and taxes, end up draining the wallet of the average tax payer.

Depression and Suicide Among Conservatives

Fair warning to all my Canadian and SDA-loving colleagues:
This is a LONG video. I did it to address a larger concern I had as I saw how my family and friends get depressed, some even contemplate suicide, because of the direction and future of the country and Western Civilization in general. I did it on a whim with some specific people in mind (thus a little rambling), but it has received a much larger and positive response than I thought it would. I speculate this is because MANY people are depressed about their futures and have a helplessness about them, but nobody has spoken directly about this topic.
If you know somebody who is down, depressed, hopeless, even suicidal over the apparent lack of a future, please send this to them, because life is too short to let a loser like Barack Obama ruin it.

Your Tax Dollars at (Non-) Work, Shania Twain Section

At The Gods of the Copybook Headings:

…Yes, I know Shania Twain is huge. But if Jesus had been born in Timmins I doubt the crowds would have been much larger. Say what you will, but at least Bethlehem is warm…
Much of the Canadian economy is littered with white elephants and grossly inefficient public services. The Shania Twain Centre is a small fiasco in the larger disaster that is the modern Canadian state.

Grade Inflation

If you’re an old fogie like me then you may have been similarly perplexed over the years as to how high school and university students were able to achieve extremely top marks yet seemed exceptionally ignorant about so-called basic facts. Quiz many of them on basic economics or history or geography or even the Times Tables and more often than not a blank stare is all you get back.
There is now an explanation for this and it lies in a trend called Grade Inflation. Simply put, this is the tendency of student grades to rise over time. There are several possible reasons for this phenomenon. All of them should lead employers to be very suspicious about the veracity of transcripts provided by younger applicants.
Some educators are trying to fight back against it but guaranteed there will be a lot of forces pushing back against them. Too many students now feel entitled to top marks even if they’ve done little to no work to justify them.
