Courtesy of Robert W., here’s a lovely time-lapse video, shot from the deck of a cruise ship, showing various scenic locations around the world. It’s hi-def, so do yourself a favour and watch it full-screen.

Any Time, Jack’s Place

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
Michael Ignatieff, Apr.1 – “Canadians truly deserve to see us go face to face in a contest of ideas, values and very different visions for our country. That is what democracy is all about.”
Montreal Gazette, Apr.1 – If Canadians find themselves being governed by a Liberal-NDP-Bloc Québécois coalition following the May election […] Only 27 per cent of the poll’s respondents said they’d want Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff to be top dog, compared with …. 59 per cent who said Layton.

Free Andrew Bolt!

Here we go again.

Herald Sun columnist Andrew Bolt has been dragged before a judge and accused of thought crimes against the high church of political correctness. He’s being prosecuted and persecuted for the lese-majesty of challenging the cult of victimhood that dominates racial discourse in Australia.

Y2Kyoto: State Of Aneroxia Envirosa

In 2005 Enstrom authored an extensive study that found no relationship between diesel particulates and premature deaths. He says his study, as well as other evidence that agrees with it, have been ignored by an agency bent on passing ever more stringent regulations regardless of their effect on California’s economy.
Enstrom blew the whistle on CARB for, among other things, failing to publicize that the lead author of the study that was used to justify the new regulations falsified his education history (he purchased his PhD from an online diploma mill).
But UCLA didn’t come to Enstrom’s defense. In fact, officials informed him that, after 34 years at the university, he was out of a job

Vote Compass Roundup

A ragtag sample of media coverage of CBC’s “vote this way” tool:
United Press International:

Online quiz makes everyone a Liberal.

Chris Selley, writing in the National Post, says he took the test and came up Conservative, but –

That said, the Vote Compass is certainly a bit crap.

The Sun’s Brian Lilley:

In one video promotion, show host George Stroumboulopoulous tells viewers to take the test, “In about five minutes you will know who represents you the best. You might actually be surprised.”

Some participants are very surprised, mostly to find out they are Liberal.

After noting that the “director of analytics” for Vote Compass was a policy advisor for Ignatieff’s Liberal leadership campaign, and that a member of Vote Compass’s advisory board “savaged Stephen Harper in the press, claiming he was destroying the ‘integrity’ of government”, Ezra Levant observes:

It’s possible that cadre of diehard Liberals can be neutral. But there’s only one way to be sure: The formula that Vote Compass uses must be disclosed publicly.

Why wouldn’t they, really? Just to assuage the toothless proles.
QOTD goes to Lilley:

CBC has defended the Vote Compass. A spokesperson for the CBC said they had nothing to do with the methodology.

We have no clue about the methodology – we’re an arms-length news organization – but we’re positive it’s on the up-and-up.
Insert Gallic shrug here.

Good Luck With That Strathcona Seat, Jack

Now is the time at SDA when we juxtapose!
Jack Layton, March 26th – “Because here in Edmonton, everybody knows, only New Democrats defeat Conservatives,”
Jack Layton, March 31st – “Under Stephen Harper, every single Quebecker is sending roughly $75 a year to subsidize dirty fossil fuel producers”.
I’ve got an email in to Grant McMurray to ask him what he meant by that.

A reply!

I have forwarded your request to our campaign team. I am busy with other aspects of the campaign and not with following the media.
Hope that helps,
Grant
