This Land Is Our Land

Kevin Klein- Aboriginal title ruling raises alarm over property certainty in Canada

This is the first slippery edge of the slope. Today, it’s public waterfront land. Tomorrow, it could be any parcel of Crown land in an urban area — land that borders your home, your business, your industrial site. Even if private titles remain intact, the value and usability of your property can be directly affected by who controls the land next to it.

Canada’s Wokeism is Now an International Embarrassment

It’s unclear whether the growing adherence to “safetyism” by assorted Canadian premiers is being coordinated at a higher level or these woke nitwits are coming up with these tyrannical policies all on their own. Language warning, but this interesting video from Carl Benjamin is well worth a watch.

Meanwhile, a serial arsonist in Saskatchewan received no fine and no imprisonment.

47: Just Doing Things

Kurt Schlichter: The feminized, Ken-doll-abdomened West is getting a hard lesson in the amazing properties of Just Doing Things.

The feminized, Ken-doll-abdomened West is getting a hard lesson in the amazing properties of Just Doing Things.

Somehow, we went from iron-hearted, iron-encased knights crushing pagan skulls with maces and became a civilization that prizes posing and proclaiming our virtue instead of pummeling our opponents into submission. […]

Donald Trump understands how to say “No.” He refuses to play along with a set of norms and guardrails that only we are supposed to observe and whose sole purpose is to prevent us from exercising our power to reject the decline our alleged betters have decreed we deserve. Remember, they can’t make us do anything. They have no guns and no upper body strength.

Related: Incredible to me that left-wingers apparently thought they could spend a decade fomenting various conspiracies to try to throw Trump in jai but that he’d just forget about it if he regained power. Have you met the dude?

O, Cascadia Subduction Zone

Hear my drum.

Seattle police arrested a 33-year-old man on Thursday afternoon after a chaotic and disturbing scene unfolded at a Capitol Hill Trader Joe’s, where the suspect reportedly threatened to kill people while armed with a knife, shortly after allegedly attempting to engage in a sex act with a store refrigerator.

A Mises Prophecy

“It has been necessary to dwell upon these truisms because the mythologies and metaphysics of etatism have succeeded in wrapping them in mystery. The state is a human institution, not a superhuman being. He who says “state” means coercion and compulsion. He who says: There should be a law concerning this matter, means: The armed men of the government should force people to do what they do not want to do, or not to do what they like. He who says: This law should be better enforced, means: The police should force people to obey this law. He who says: The state is God, deifies arms and prisons. The worship of the state is the worship of force. There is no more dangerous menace to civilization than a government of incompetent, corrupt, or vile men. The worst evils which mankind ever had to endure were inflicted by bad governments. The state can be and has often been in the course of history the main source of mischief and disaster.”

Ludwig von Mises [1881-1973]

This quotation comes from near the end of WW2, but one may wonder if Mises had a dream of Canada and the UK in 2025.

‘Your Suffering Doesn’t Matter’

National Post- ‘Your suffering doesn’t matter’: Harvard psychologist tackles Jews’ ‘traumatic invalidation’

That concept is traumatic invalidation. I realized that for Jewish people right now, there is a compound trauma effect, where a lot of us are still feeling the stress of the war, and worried about our loved ones at home, and carry the secondary trauma from October 7, from seeing those horrific pictures and all the horrors, but also the response that we’re getting from the environment around us.

The concept of traumatic invalidation is when someone is denying your pain, or focusing on the other side. Basically, controlling the narrative, ignoring you, not paying attention to your own thoughts, or telling you what to feel or how to act. I didn’t invent the concept of traumatic invalidation. It’s a known phenomenon in the trauma world, but no one ever applied it to the Jewish community, which is basically what I did in the research.

Self Imposed Sanctions

Who knew that Elbows Up meant shooting yourself in the foot?

While the pickles are assembled in Green Bay, Wis., Oakland said the company buys 11 million pounds of Ontario cucumbers every year and said all the lids on the jars come from an Ontario manufacturer.

Now, the company finds itself in an awkward situation or — some might even say — a pickle.

Sales are down about 25 per cent in the last three months, according to Oakland, who said, going forward, the company will buy fewer pickles and lids from its Canadian partners.

Embrace Hollywood!

I won’t spoil the ending.

At the height of the Great Awokening in 2021, [Gina] Carano posted that the then-current political climate — where people are hated for their political views — had a historical parallel in the Nazi Party’s efforts to make Germans hate their neighbors simply for being Jewish. To prove her point, critics launched a “#FireGinaCarano” campaign. As cowardly woke corporations so often do, Disney and Lucasfilm quickly caved to the pressure and fired Carano from her role in The Mandalorian.

It was a textbook example of how swiftly the online left-wing social media mob could mobilize to destroy someone for holding dissenting opinions — cancel culture, if you will. By bowing to that mob, Disney and Lucasfilm only emboldened it.

Not only that, but by firing Carano, both studios exposed themselves as massive hypocrites. Lucasfilm described her posts as “abhorrent and unacceptable” when she was removed. Conveniently unmentioned? Mandalorian co-star Pedro Pascal’s tweets comparing Trump supporters to Nazis, and another post with “#ThisIsAmerica” beneath an image he believed depicted U.S. immigration enforcement, but which was instead a photo from the West Bank. Beyond the fact that Pascal, lacking basic awareness, misrepresented the image entirely, the fact that he kept his job highlighted Disney’s ever-changing enforcement.
