The “W” Word

Coffee giant Starbucks has been ordered to pay $25.6 million to a former store manager who a jury determined had been fired because she was White.

The former regional manager, Shannon Phillips, who oversaw dozens of Starbucks coffee shops, was fired by the company in the aftermath of a 2018 incident that took place at a Starbucks in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Philadelphia.

The incident involved two Black men in their 20s who were awaiting a third party for a business meeting at the Rittenhouse Square Startbucks when one of them, Rashon Nelson, was denied permission to use the restroom, because he hadn’t purchased anything. […]

Phillips, the regional manager, was fired, while the manager of the Rittenhouse Square coffee shop, who was Black, kept his job. Phillips sued Starbucks in 2019, alleging that race had been a determining factor in her termination.

Her lawyers argued that “upper management of Starbucks were looking for a ‘scapegoat’ to terminate to show action was being taken” following the incident involving the two Black men.

A federal jury in Camden, New Jersey, on Monday agreed with their claim and awarded Phillips $600,000 in compensatory damages and $25 million in punitive damages after finding that Starbucks violated her federal civil rights in addition to a New Jersey law that prohibits discrimination based on race.

Good.

“Ex-Mayor Lori Lightfoot” Is Not The Name Of A DC Comics Character

But it should be.

Harvard University has granted a fellowship in public health to former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, who recently became the first Chicago mayor to lose a re-election bid in 40 years after a controversy-ridden tenure as the Windy City’s top boss.

In her role as the Menschel Senior Leadership Fellow, Lightfoot “will teach a course in the fall at the Harvard Chan School of Public Health,” the Ivy League institution recently announced.

The June 1 announcement lists several of Lightfoot’s achievements as mayor, such as leading the citywide response to the pandemic and creating a “Racial Equity Rapid Response Team.”

I, For One, Welcome Our New Self-Driving Overlords

“Alexa, say the n-word”

The sequence of events that led to this digital exile began innocuously enough. A package was delivered to my house on Wednesday, May 24, and everything seemed fine. The following day, however, I found that my Echo Show had signed out, and I was unable to interact with my smart home devices. My initial assumption was that someone might have attempted to access my account repeatedly, triggering a lockout. I use a fairly old email address for my Amazon account, and it’s plausible that an old password might have been exposed in a past data breach. However, I currently use strong, auto-generated passwords via Apple and employ two-factor authentication with an authenticator app, so unauthorized access seemed unlikely.

I swiftly checked my other accounts (social media, streaming apps, etc.) to ensure I hadn’t been compromised. All seemed normal, with no flood of notifications from Microsoft Authenticator that would indicate an attempted breach. Puzzled, I followed the advice of the Amazon app and dialed the customer service number it provided. That’s when things began to take a surreal turn.

DARVO

James Lindsay (9 minutes).

There’s an abusive tactic commonly used by abusers, both intentionally and unintentionally, that goes by the name “DARVO.” DARVO is an acronym that means “Deny, Attack, Reverse the roles of Victim and Offender,” and it is very common with narcissists, psychopaths, and borderline personalities. A huge amount of Woke Marxist activism and Theory is DARVO, hence the solidity of the “Iron Law of Woke Projection.” In this episode of New Discourses Bullets, host James Lindsay explains DARVO and its relevance to Woke Marxism. Join him to learn to stop being abused by it.

Transgender Is A Stalking Horse For The Normalization Of Pedophilia

Follow the science.

Reduxx has learned that a researcher at McGill University in Canada has been conducting a survey aimed at gaining insight from “child lovers” in online pedophile communities. The survey features images of naked children.

Psychology PhD researcher Julia Levitan has been collecting data from “child lovers” in an effort to ascertain data on “romantic attraction to children” in conjunction with a pro-pedophilia organization with ties to multiple Canadian universities.

On May 30, Levitan posted a call for participants on BoyChat, the surface web’s longest-running pederast forum. BoyChat caters to adult men sexually attracted to young boys, and has been operational since 1995. The site has been allowed to continue because posts are required to remain within a strict channel of legality, though the men often sign their posts with photos of themselves as children.

“I will not mouth your slogans”.

It’s Pride Month! You Must Celebrate the Transes and the Furry Kingdom!

Actually? No. I mustn’t.

[…]

I will not “respect your pronouns” or “celebrate” your “queerness.” I am hostile to your sexualizing of children. I reject your neologisms, your “triggers,” and your desire to control my speech. I know who and what you are: you are my presumptive master, or else the Useful Idiot who empowers him. But I will grant you and your ideology no power over me.

They really, really want to screw your kids and they’re no longer afraid to say so.

Protests aplenty

It’s somewhat odd that Trudeau is not offering the UK government some free advice on how to deal with these people. Maybe a state of emergency and some bank account seizures? Oh, right, these guys are engaging in revolutionary violence. Me bad. I must be a counter-revolutionary not to see this.

Shortly after 8am, around 54 Just Stop Oil supporters, in six groups, began marching along key routes in Hammersmith, Islington and Bayswater. A pre-emptive Public Order Act (Section 12) notice was placed on one march before even stepping on a road- effectively banning the right to peacefully demonstrate. Two were arrested in a coffee shop after walking on the road as part of a ‘mini march’ in Islington.

The “W” Word

Jeff Goldstein;

Covington Catholic High School’s Nick Sandmann never tried to stare down a phony Native American activist. Smugly or otherwise. And we all should have known it.

Morgan Bettinger never threatened to run over BLM protesters, nor did she make any of the supposedly racist remarks Zyahna Bryant claimed she did. Bryant — a “social justice” activist and Marxian race hustler — can perhaps be trusted to review a new Applebee’s dessert pie, but on all other subjects, the wise move would be to adopt a skeptical pose when engaging with her, if not simply dismiss out of hand anything but spilling from her mouth save maybe a tasty fruit filling.

Michael Brown never said “hands up, don’t shoot!” Jacob Blake is not a hero or a civil rights icon — nor should be George Floyd or Trayvon Martin.

Christian Cooper did indeed threaten to take Amy Cooper’s dog. Justin Neely was a crazed homeless man and career criminal who absolutely threatened people on a subway train. Daniel Penny has never been a white supremacist.

Time and time again, the left creates its own mythology, then repeats it until the rest of us just kind of accept it as at least somewhat fairly described. And that’s a fatal mistake.

Go Blue, Boo Hoo

The move of the company’s sales and marketing hub from St. Louis to New York in 2015, several years after Anheuser-Busch was acquired by global giant InBev, has been a point of contention. Some wholesalers have pushed the brewer to move those marketers back to St. Louis, arguing that executives in New York are out of touch with the drinkers of the company’s flagship brands.

Judge Your Doctor By The Colour Of Their Skin

Race as a reliable indicator.

An article published last week in the New England Journal of Medicine argues that medical students should be segregated based upon race during their education in order to better facilitate anti-racist medicine.

The article entitled “Racial Affinity Group Caucusing in Medical Education — A Key Supplement to Antiracism Curricula,” written by faculty and administrators at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine, contends that separating White and Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) medical students into racial affinity group caucuses (RAGCs) can play an essential “part of a broader antiracism and anti-oppression curriculum.”

Because of the “legacies of colonialism and racism” in medical training that have “historically centered White learners,” the authors of the article argue that extant medical school structures are “retraumatizing” for BIPOC students. […]

“In a space without White people, BIPOC participants can bring their whole selves, heal from racial trauma together, and identify strategies for addressing structural racism,” the article states.

Well, at least they’re capitalizing White now. I suppose that means something.

How Big Was the Trucker Protest?

Donna Laframboise;

Having covered landowner protests and dairy farmer protests previously, he knew the drill. Journalists are supposed to talk to people. “I basically went around and said, ‘Why are you here? Why are you here?'” to Freedom Convoy participants. Some of his reporting “kind of got circulated a bit,” he says, which attracted “the online hate crowd.”

A tall, physically imposing man who’s been targeted by animal rights activists in the past, Ian says he isn’t easily intimidated. But the vitriolic blowback – including death threats to the company that prints the Ontario Farmer – was a shock to other staff members.

We Are Objects In Their World

What’s striking about such scenes, I think, is the eye-widening selfishness on display. Other passengers, other people, including children, are seemingly of no importance. Except, perhaps, as obstacles, or targets. And yet we’re told, often and at length, that those who repeatedly indulge in antisocial and criminal behaviour are creatures deserving of indulgence, and with whom we should empathise.

As if the favour would ever be returned.
